Today on BomiLito’s “Myths, Monsters and Folklore Tour” we visited Lytham Hall in Lytham, Lancashire, UK. Long purported to be the home of several ghosts and a place of high oddness as we shall shortly see! More info on the hall here: https://www.lythamhall.org.uk/
Tumblr media
The hall itself self. Which we are assured is home to several incorporeal beings. Most notably a common or garden “White Lady” who stalks the “long gallery”. Also a spook of Thomas Clifton who built the great gaff in the 1700′s. We figure he must be sure enough bored by now having to hang around so long. Maybe the odds are good that he would take every opportunity to bewail us!
Tumblr media
A crap long shot of the Hall. While we could actually enter the building we were prohibited from taking any photos due to “security”. The word “security” was stage whispered at us in such a manner that suggested all sorts of intrigue. Excitement levels rose! Then dipped. No ghosts came to greet us. Though we were assured a phantom dog had been seen that very decade!
Tumblr media
SO! We turned our attentions to the vast gardens! Luckily, here, we found all manner of fortean oddness! We steadied our bowels and pressed on.
Tumblr media
Very strange tiny bore holes! Woodworm? Maybe! But also maybe tiny wormholes to other dimensions? Wow! And how many tree’s have you ever seen with an elongated anus? Another wormhole perhaps?
Tumblr media
Things get weirder with the discovery that this tree has a scrotum (see: ballbag)!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A pile of old dead trees in a site suspiciously comparable to the Patterson/Gimlin Bigfoot Film site! Here we found yet another hole! A dirty great one! Carlito could feel the pull on his finger and very nearly let out a wet one. Lord knows how those mushrooms hang on!
Tumblr media
Bom Carrot stumbled upon what she described as “octopus eyes”! Myxomatosis octopus eyes! Pure evil!
Tumblr media
Now, our heads battered by so much supernatural weirdness we stumbled upon this beautiful carcass. This old dead tree gave off a presence..or a stench...can’t remember which..Anyway, it was this fellow who prompted the thought, “do tree’s have ghosts?!?”. Surely they must! So, we found the perfect subject for our next painting!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A ruddy great hole that, no doubt, hides any number of goblins. A strange straight cut. Maybe from a UFO laser? And! Some witch pubes! These elements combined could be very dangerous. We suppose.
Tumblr media
We were not sure what this was so we decided it was a UK Bigfoot lair. No doubt we are right.
Tumblr media
A petrified sea serpent! A relic, no doubt, from the time Lytham Hall was situated underwater.
Tumblr media
Suspicious signage. Deep water? Or lurking boggart? Or both!?
Tumblr media
Bom Carrot braves the boggart and points to a suspicious movement. A moorhen! But It COULD have been Jinny Greenteeth! It wasn’t. But it COULD have been.
Tumblr media
A strange trench deep in the woods. Surely a long used trail for a giant slithering being!
Tumblr media
We saw not one heron! Fake news to keep dynamic explorers off the off beaten path!?
Tumblr media
In the cleft of a dead tree we found what is obviously a tortured soul sucked very dry. We ran away. Be sure to not stare at this photo too long!
Tumblr media
A giant claw! No doubt another relic from a time long ago when the whole of the UK had gigantism and lived under the waves.
Tumblr media
A curly metal implement. We took this metal object to be analysed by a high falutin laboratory*. They only confirmed our suspicions that it is not of this earth. Maybe a “boing” from a UFO? (*fiction based on fact)
Tumblr media
Ummm.....
Tumblr media
More witch pubes! Pretty thick on the ground at Lytham Hall!
Tumblr media
From this distance the Hall itself looks very tiny. Which just goes to show things are not always as they seem! That concluded our jaunt. We survived once again even though we took ourselves to the very precipice of no return. All in a days work!  Now to paint a Ghost Tree.

Here is our, as yet uncoloured, ink painting of the Dragon and Mermaid that we did not see on our recent “myth, monster and folklore” hunt to Marton Mere, Blackpool, UK.

Hello! We are Bomi from Korea and Carlito from UK and our art collaboration group called ‘BomiLito’!
Today we kicked off our tour of the search for the weird and wonderful at Marton Mere, Blackpool where (supposedly) lurks a dragon, a mermaid, the ghost of a monk AND an actual crocodile!
All somehow avoided us but that won’t stop us drawing and posting our adventure related artwork in the next few days.
Tumblr media
Quite obviously the footprint of a huge beast! Dragon or Bigfoot maybe?
Tumblr media
A mermaid (or dragon) has obviously passed this way into the mere many times! Note how brave Bom Carrot is as she edges towards the water.
Tumblr media
Carlito points to some weird and windy bulrushes where something surely lurks. A ghost monk sleeping? A dragon? A mermaid? Some ducks?
Tumblr media
A cloven hoofed footprint!? Do ghost monks have cloven hoofs?
Tumblr media
A well slopped through trail that no doubt leads to the lair of the beast or mermaid. This being our first adventure we admit we did not have the sufficient cojones to follow it all the way. Plus! We had no wellygogs.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No doubt a spy for the real dragon. We were also watched all day by any number of birds and trees!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Broken branches! Snapped by something huge passing through! A dragon perhaps?!
Tumblr media
Ohmaya! We are deep in surreal and fortean territory now it seems!
Tumblr media
A ravaged and savaged tennis ball we found along the trail. Has it passed through the drooling jaws of a centurys old dragon?! Surely no ordinary animal could have caused such destruction of a ball!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Two photos of the mere itself. All looks calm but who knows what lurks in the depths?! In the top photo we can see what looks to the untrained eye as two swans with their young…..but is it!?! Is it really? And what of the glowing blob in the upper right hand corner?! A glowing ghost monk!? Or not.
Tumblr media
A sign that, for some utterly odd reason, does not allude to any of the fortean goings on in the reserve! Bitterns though….which will eventually be ghost bitterns we no doubt. Fight the fake news.
Tumblr media
Bom Carrot contemplates the fact that we had no real sighting of either dragon, mermaid or ghost monk today but we DID collate plenty of indisputable evidence.Over the next few days we will paint BomiLito interpretations of the creatures we did not see.Thank you to the kind people of Marton Mere, Blackpool. It is a place of pure beauty (and hidden horror) and, as such, well worth a visit.
