#strictly science#god is a paradigm through which i choose to interpret/comprehend the world.#it is the one and the same as the world to me. my understanding of god doesn't even resemble the generally accepted definition

You know what I've never really seen realistically depicted in fiction? The way that people in places that get a huge amount of snow deal with said snow. Specifically in the cities. I get that it's probably not exactly an intuitive thing to think about if you've never lived in a place that gets a lot of snow, and even if you do, you probably figure that they must have some really sophisticated infrastructure systems specifically for this purpose. It's not like they'll just scoop the snow off the streets and gather it into huge piles, and then just climb over the progressively larger and larger snow piles every single year for months while waiting for the piles to melt in the spring.
We do. There's no point in planning more sophisticated systems to get rid of something that'll eventually just go away on its own. So they just pile the snow into randomly designated spaces that cars or people aren't supposed to go through, and let it pile up. There's significantly less street parking available in the winter because some spots where you could otherwise park a car are currently the parking spot of a snow pile three times taller than a car.
You get used to it. And if you grow up around here, it never even occurs to you to think of it as something strange in the first place.

It's the funniest thing when they get more than that
Tumblr posts have 3 options.
1. 0 notes. Big flop.
2. #10k (failure, you get 2k)
3. About 1000 comments and a total of 50k notes still going around while your boog is dead

OH MY FUCKING GOD THIS IS GENIUS NO WONDER I DIDN'T THINK OF THIS
but like genuinely. I've wanted to write a paper on this game since I started playing it, but I don't think they accept tumblr posts as valid sources. I personally don't think the platform discredits the analysis tho.
btw we do *get* that the worldbuilding of DE parallels the character's arc right? We understand that, right? That Our Guy commits all but a sliver of himself to the oblivion of amnesia in a moment where the only alternative he could see was suicide. And at the other end of that tragic attempt at self-annihilation he gets the chance to reinvent himself and overcome the longstanding, persistent habits that brought him to the cliff's edge to begin with. And that the world itself is presented as approaching an equally definitive precipice, with one of the richest characters in the cast even remarking that Capital is dead, and everything else being 20-odd years away from being swallowed by the pale
And we understand that the pale is forgetting, right? Right? It's informational entropy applied to the world, facts and events and places and memories being destructured and obliderated, reduced to an indistinct soup of whispers, past present and future. That it emerges from humanity's collective inability to imagine a future beyond moralist capitalism, and that this inability to see the horizon inevitably metastazises into Mesque's accelerationist nihilism that ultimately destroys the world. [starts shaking you] WE UNDERSTAND THAT RIGHT??
That the game's splash screen is a view from the bay of Revachol, from the deserter's island. And we know what it shows, right? Revachol, in the distance. And beyond that what? A horizon? No! It shows Pale. Because that's his perspective. Because he has abandoned all hope, lost all sight of the future and has committed to self-annihilation. For him the entroponetic collapse is imminent. We see that, don't we?
That the game is a thesis on hope. That the world has the chance to reinvent itself from the precipice of oblivion just like Harry does, and that the only thing that can do that is imagining the future. A future. Any future, and making it. Piece by piece, day by day, committing to it, and refusing to give in to despair and nihilism. We understand, don't we, that there must be no truce with the f-
you know what, nevermind...

I neeeeed more stuff like this

Turns out I really fuck with detective stories that aren't normal or straightforward in the slightest. The mystery doesn't even get solved in one of these

I AM GOUNG INSAUNE OUVER THESE TEUXTS
“the city and the city” is one of the major influences on disco elysium but i think they come away from their respective stories with opposing viewpoints
mieville says “the magic was never real, and the person who believed in it was being led astray - eventually it got her killed”
disco says “the magic was real all along, and the people who believed in it are dismissed as cranks, but holding onto hope in something beyond what we can see, whether it’s the phasmid or the tower of matchboxes or revachol herself, is never foolish”

Corwi is like kimtsuragi if kimtsuragi wasn't afraid to let his inner freak shine
#also I'm questioning the gender of every character#my language doesn't have gendered pronouns and they use last names for everyone in the book. pretty sure corwi is a woman tho#anyway what i meant to say is that corwi is a force of nature and i need her to enter the canon of blorbos in my brain. she's just a little#guy and she probably would break any law to enforce the law. she's a cop but we've all got flaws. she would investigate a broken toilet if#borlu asked her to. she's corwi and I'm putting her in the microwave#(and if it turns out she's not a woman rhen whoops that adult man goes by she/her now. whoops.)#the city and the city#i can definitely see how this book inspired dr#de*#disco elysium#kim kitsuragi#china mieville

Physically, I am always on a journey to be as near large bodies of water as possible. Mentally, I'm always on track to become the most abstract concept possible. You will not be able to comprehend me by 2035. Good luck with your squad-in-office-attire shenanigans :p
"i can stack donuts on it" well i can spit corrosive enzymes on it. AND the donuts. then i can slurp that shit crazy style
