Wrestlemania 34
It's been a few hours since the end of the show last night. I kept from commenting till I had time to think about it.
The show started off decent enough. Broken Matt won the Battle Royal with help from a returning Bray. The Cruiserweight match was good and both guys showed they deservered to be there. The women's rumble furthered Sasha and Bayley's fued. The IC title match was entertaining and all the men looked strong.
But that's when it started to go downhill. Charlotte beat Asuka, ending her streak. Asuka was barely in the hold before she tapped. Jinder Mahal won the US championship ignoring that everyone and their mother is chanting Rusev Day all over the world.
Ronda actually impressed me a lot in her match as I didn't expect much. She had a great showing and we had a few spots of the women and men facing off (see Ronda punching Trips into a corner) and while she has a lot to work on promo wise she's ready for in ring action.
The SmackDown tag match was a squash match woth the Bludgeon Brothers getting the titles.
The Cena/Taker match happened woth some very entertaining things happening before with Elias although he just got beaten up. Taker killed Cena in 2:46 because Cena wasn't ready for Taker.
Sadly Bryan spent a lot of time 'out' of this match because Kevin and Sami attacked him and Shane before the match started but when he finally did get in the ring he probed he's still a great wrestler.
Nai Jax won the raw women's title which will hopefully end this stupid body shaming/bullying angle they've had going on.
Nakamura vs AJ Styles was just disappointing. The best part of the match was Nakamura's awesome entrance and his heel turn at the end.
Braun picked a random kid (a refs son actually) from the crowd to be his partner which was funny and cute but this match was just used as a break between the 2 big titles and most people were too tired to really care about it.
And in the final match Brock retained his title even though he doesn't care about the business and also went off script by opening up Roman Reigns the hard way (elbows to the head) also causing a concussion. Now unlike when he faces Orton at Summer slam this was not planned and made Vince very angry. Rumor had it that they exchanged words when Brock went to the back and threw the title at Vince/the wall.
Roman was built up all year to make us like him more. To give us a champ who cared and who wanted to be there for the fans. And he gets injured and loses his chance at the title again. He deserved much better.
I hope RAW tonight fixes things.

I finished The Assassin and the Pirate Lord. It's funny to see these characters where they started. Celaena as Adarlan's Assassin so sure she's being led the right way. Sam arguing with her almost every step but also knowing her so well he can tell she's planning something. And

Harry Potter Book 1: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J.K. Rowling
Rating: 4.75/5 “There is no good and evil, there is only power and those too weak to seek it.” 20 years ago this book was released. I was 6 years old at the time and was a long ways away from reading this series. I read it the first time in school. I don't remember when but I do remember reading it. After a few years I re-read the story and was just as enthralled as the first time. This story of a sad young boy who never felt included and was always treated as something less who finally got to be with people who cared for him and treated him right is just as powerful today as it was in 1997. Harry Potter is 'The Boy Who Lived' and he will always be in our hearts. His first year at Hogwarts was filled with magic, new friends, new experiences, and his first fight against Voldemort. Harry learns a lot about the life he now lives and must learn that there is much more going on in the world than he ever thought. “It takes a great deal of bravery to stand up to our enemies, but just as much to stand up to our friends.”

The Selection book 1: The Selection by Kiera Cass
Rating: 5/5 “I hope you find someone you can't live without.I really do. And I hope you never have to know what it's like to have to try and live without them.” The Selection takes place in a future version of our world where North America is one big country known as Illéa. It has become a custom in Illéa for the Prince to have a Selection to choose his wife. One girl from each of the 35 provinces is chosen and brought to the Palace in the province of Angeles. The girls go through tasks and are eliminated at the discretion of the prince until only one girl is left. The country has a Caste system, determining what your jobs could be and who you could marry. America never wanted to join the Selection. She was happy with Aspen even though they kept their relationship a secret. However, as girl between the ages of 16 and 21 she had the chance to join ad even Aspen told her to try it. Being a Five, a low ranking caste, America didn't believe she could ever be chosen. Her name was chosen, and after being Selected she was brought to Angeles, meeting a few of the other girls on the way, but never really wanting to be a part of it. She made a deal with Prince Maxon to let her stay in exchange for feeding him information on the other girls so her family could get a little more money that the Selection girls family's received. Maxon was against having a Selection and didn't like the way his country was being run. He couldn't say or do anything until he was King however, so he followed his fathers rules and had his Selection. He liked America early on but knew he didn't want to be there. He met her in secret at times to discuss the other girls. Things got a little confusing and difficult when Aspen joined the Palace Guard. America knew she wasn't supposed to do anything with anyone other than Maxon but her feelings for Aspen were there and she was ready to throw it all away for him With Rebels plotting against the Crown it wasn't all safe at the Palace. America didn't want to stand by and do nothing. She started speaking with the rebels and seriously jepeordized her chances in the Selection, as ell as her life. “True love is usually the most inconvenient kind.”
