The Level up Series - The Pre’
For my around the way girls 🍫💁🏾‍♀️
Tumblr media
“We are all stars, but we must learn to shine.” - Marilyn Monroe ✨✨
I remember having to go to the county clerk office in my town to get information on a ticket I had acquired. It was about 10am (which was too early for me) and I didn’t even want to go. I drug myself out of bed, threw on a hoodie, sweats and slippers. I was only gonna be inside a min. My hair was a mess so I wrapped a scarf around my unlaid edges and whipped up a messy bun. I was a also an avid smoker so I of course, in true stoner fashion, smoked a blunt on my way there. This was my morning coffee. So I blasted my music and headed to the court house.
Tumblr media
When I got there there was no one in line so I was the first up. I saw the employees behind the counter milling around…typing things, using the copy machine or having conversations but no one stopped to greet me or acknowledge my presence. I was high so I was patient but after about 5 mins and actually making eye contact with some of the ladies I had to wave someone down to get serviced. I was helped by a lady who seemed like I was bothering her and who finally asked me to come through a door to wait for the next available representative. I could see behind the counter once I stepped inside and the employees weren’t particularly busy so I couldn’t understand the wait or annoyance they displayed. I waited about 20 more mins before I got the information I needed by another employee who also responded to me very dismissive. But something interesting happened during my wait….
Tumblr media
A white gentlemen came in with a suit. I wouldn’t have paid him much attention because my head was down on my phone but I heard how promptly he was greeted and the “sir” that was even added in addressing him. By lady #1 who seemed annoyed with ME. The gentleman in the suit wasn’t that much older than me but she addressed him with importance. I looked at his outfit and noticed his socks were mismatched and his shoes weren’t clean. There were trays in his hemming almost as if they had been very old pants. But from the waist up (which is all they could see from the counter) he looked like somebody in charge. I was so baffled at how many people greeted him and stopped what they were doing to help him and make him feel seen and how he clearly threw something on this morning too. He was helped quickly and asked if there was anything else they could do sent on his way with a “have a nice day”While I was given my paperwork with no eye contact and a “mmmhmm” after my “thank you”.
The 8-8-8 Rule ✍🏾
Tumblr media
“You can’t redo a first impression, but you can redefine your lasting one” -Mia Chanae✨✨
Did you know that people make 11 different notions about you by the first 8 feet, 8 seconds and 8 words that come out of your mouth?
First impressions are important and maybe you (like me) have made terrible ones. Or ones that don’t really showcase who you truly are. I always joke that I have the superpower of being hood and classy all based on how I feel lol. Maybe you’ve made impressions that were terrible but you want to reinvent yourself. All of these things applied to me so during quarantine I dived into finding and elevating myself. It led me to getting a certification in Ettiquette consulting and working towards entrepreneurship. This blog is my journey🙌🏾 . All of the things I learned through the years and the information I learned through Ettiquette and lifestyle practices. Any video, course, book or interview about Ettiquette and leveling up…..your girl has done it all. The paid ones and the free ones. I did my research so you don’t have to. This blog will help you see that reinvention is possible and that it starts with you. It can start today but maybe you’re unsure where to start. Like I was. I’m not leveled up completely by any means. “As I minister to you, I minister to myself” Everyday I’m in learning habits that don’t fit with the woman I want to be. I’m from a small town and my neighborhood is less than affluent. I was able to leave the city, travel, experience other cultures by way of the military. I came back home and realized there was a separation between how I thought and where my mind could go and the people who never left the city. 👽
Tumblr media
I want to share my experiences with black girls who wish for more but grew up where I did and feel like it’s unattainable.
Maybe they didn’t get the scholorship or the navy ticket and didn’t leave their hometown. ✈️
Maybe they are in a new place but can’t seem to make friends. 👯‍♀️
Maybe they are tired of the attention their look gets them and want to change it all up. 💇🏾‍♀️
Maybe they want the “glow up” they never had. 💅🏾
Maybe they spends hours on social media wondering how they all look so put together..🙇🏾‍♀️
WHAT IS THEIR SECRET?????!!!! 😩😩
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨ I’m here to spill the beans and give YOU the secrets and tips to achieving the lifestyle you desire. 🥰
✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
You can upgrade your life one step at a type and incorporate habits and routines and mindset of the people who you admire. You’re no different from them. I hope you enjoy this blog and level up with me. You are the only thing stopping you. Not your financial situation, not your environment, not the color of your skin. You get one movie ladies….YOU decide how it plays out. So pinkies up ladies….class is in session. 💕

cut out the words “like” and “um” from your vocabulary and notice how much more intelligent you sound. it will change the way people listen and speak to you, especially if you’re a young woman.

Shout Out to The Woman I’m Becoming
I love this for me. I can feel myself transforming into the woman of my desired reality. I act how I want, I radiate how I want, and most importantly, I receive what I want with easy ease.
She’s no longer fearful, now fearless.
She no longer moves with caution, now confidence.
The books I read, the environments I place myself in, the people I choose to follow & entertain all shaped me into the legend worthy Goddess I am today.
I do not know what the Universe has planned for me, but I must say I’m very pleased and grateful thus far.
I AM BLACK FEMININITY AT IT’S FINEST

Ladies...You should not be paying for the date. In business etiquette the person who suggested the meeting pays for the meal. Why not implement that same standard in dating? 🤔

This!!!!! I’m telling you ladies. Refined Black Women are EXOTIC! A seat at any table is possible with the right polishing and system 💕
How would a darker skin woman succeed in wealthy spaces? The hard truth please
The Hard Truth? It's A Piece of Cake :)
One thing that dark skin girls need to understand is that by nature ALL humans are inherently attracted the new and mysterious.
Sad truth is, there aren't many black girls in wealthy spaces, period. Some would say it's a curse but others (like me) would say it's a blessing. Why? Because you STAND OUT. And in this society, if you don't stand out you simply don't exist.
In my experience, it's a million times easier for me to lock eyes with the Goldman Sachs Partner across the room than my white counterparts. If I tap the shoulder of the Fortune 500 COO, he'll be more likely to listen to what I have to say because frankly, he hasn't talked to a whole lot of black girls.
Elegant dark skin girls are a hot commodity in these worlds, and its time someone said it.
Tumblr media
So here's how to succeed:
1. Expose yourself to wealthy spaces:
This is arguably the hardest step because lets be real, stepping into these circles is intimidating. But you have to face your fears to get the gold. So expose yourself to the wealthy. Go to high-end bars, public gallery openings, museums, fancy restaurants. I live near NYC so if anyone needs a wingwoman to get them comfortable in these settings feel free to hmu. But you HAVE GOT to get comfortable with traversing these spaces.
Tumblr media
2. Make a scene, but only the good kind:
Here's the deal, appearances matter more than anything in these circles. So yes you WANT to make a scene. You WANT to be notice by everyone. You WANT to turn heads. And by being a dark skin girl in a predominantly white setting, you easily will. BUT, its all about finding the perfect balance between owning the room and still being appropriate. So you have to dress your absolute best and keep it extremely classy. Less is always more. Keep your hair neat and demure, keep your jewelry to a minimum, and always stay as modest as possible. This will mindfuck the wealthy thinking at all black girls are always gregarious and dressed like Meg the Stallion. They'll see you and be confused, baffled, and maybe even a bit enchanted. Which brings us to the next step:
Tumblr media
3. Have a compelling story:
What do the most viewed Ted Talks all have in common? They all start with a story. This is because as humans we're attracted to the anticipation, the drama, the repeatability of a good story. You don't have to be the smartest. You don't have to be a Harvard alum or play tennis professionally or be a Rhodes Scholar. But you do have to find that thing within yourself that makes you shine. So what is it? Is it the fact that you were raised by a single mother and practically raised yourself? The fact that you speak 4 languages? Whatever it is (I PROMISE you have a selling point), memorize it and prepare to use it to your advantage. By telling your unique story, you humanize yourself and prove to your wealthy counterpart that you are in fact a human just like them and are relatable. That you are important and they have lessons to learn from you. So tell your story and make sure it pulls them in and leaves them wanting more.
Tumblr media
4. Learn the Art of Seduction and use it to your advantage:
We may think we’re an advanced species, but truthfully, we’re not. We are all extremely easy to seduce and that’s a universal fact. Doesn’t matter if you have dark skin, light skin, or purple skin; if you learn how to seduce others with your body language, words, and demeanor, you’ll be a success. So do your research! The books that have taught me to seduce, manipulate, and destroy (not in that particular order) are “The Art of Seduction” by Robert Greene, “How to Win Friends and Influence People” by Dale Carnegie, and “The Wisdom of Psychopaths” by Kevin Dutton. Use the tactics in these books and you’ll be able to infiltrate and work wealthy settings like none other.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. Create an Alter Ego:
I go by Elle 99% of the time. However, 1% of the time, when I’m at an event, I (secretly) go by Olivia Banks. She’s my alter ego. She’s sharp as a tack, absolutely gorgeous, and the most successful woman in the room. She always knows what to say. Everyone loves her. Men want to have her. Girls want to be her. She’s one in a billion. Having an alter ego has allowed me to traverse a ton of wealthy spaces with confidence and ease. It’s the way I put aside my insecurities and immediately present as the person I want to be. And it WORKS.
So before entering these wealthy spaces, create an alter ego! Who would you be without any limits? How would the world treat you? How would you walk? Talk? Dress? Put on that personality like you’re putting on your outfit. Understand that you don’t have to fake it till you make it. You can actually BE it to make it.
Tumblr media
In conclusion,
I KNOW people are drawn in by looks and I KNOW many people have inherent prejudices, but guess what? You are still a prize. If you look put together, find yourself in the right places, and know how to sell yourself (figuratively), you will find success. And no, it doesn’t have to be hard or stressful. Just be the person you want to be and understand that you are, by nature of being a dark-skinned Queen, the best. ✨
