Android App Development
As the world’s most popular operating system, Android offers a tremendous eco-system to kick-start your career. Recently overtaking Windows in terms of active online users, working as an Android App Developer is a safe and interesting career option. As most companies look to expand their offerings to mobile environments, now is the best time to invest in your skills as an Android Developer. But as it is often the case with fields so vast, it can be difficult to understand the pre-requisites to become a dev.
So join at Braingroom, as we look at the skills necessary to become a fledgling app developer
Java
Java is the programming language in which you will be writing the application. Knowing Java will be essential for developing Android Applications. Java is a simple programming language to pick-up and is often the first language of many programmers. Understanding the syntax, being aware of necessary concepts and writing clean code will be paramount to your journey as an Android App Dev. Courses for this are aplenty and are definitely value for money.
Click on this link for a very well received course on Java.
Android Studio and SDK
Android Studio is the official IDE (integrated development environment) of Android. It is here you will be developing your applications. Android Studio will fulfil all your requirements as the platform of app development. It is capable of compiling, running and building your code, testing and debugging the app and finally emulating the application.
Using the SDK (software development kit) you can access the various API and software libraries. The plethora of modules allows developers an easy route to the various functionalities of the OS.
XML
XML is the primary mark-up language of Android. To properly facilitate User-Interface and User Experience, knowledge of XML is tantamount. From designing layouts to parsing data, XML will act as your language of action. While not the most essential skill in the list, it is often the differential between a good app and a great app. It can be easily picked up through online courses.
Here's a very popular XML course.
Additional Skills
Diversity is a common theme with application development and hence, an Android developer’s skill set is always broadening. In the long run, it’s worth investing time into Google’s Material Design Philosophy, to make apps that don’t stand out for the wrong reasons.  For apps that deal with data, DBMS (database management systems) like SQLite will help greatly simplify the storing, sorting and exporting of values. For game development, especially one involving 3-D models will involve game engines like Unity, Unreal etc.
The process of learning never stops, only redirects. Although the basic framework remains the same, Android Development is an ever-evolving field. Paying attention to these changes will prove to be very useful in both the short and long run. Online portals like GitHub, StackExchange and developer forums, will help you along the way and may provide with opportunities to freelance or collaborate.
With mobile app development interesting peaks of both interest and demand, now is as good a time as ever to get started with app development. Staying resolute, determined and thirsty for knowledge is all you need to make the most in this lucrative field.
A detailed discourse starting from scratch to your first app. Curriculum curated by app development CEOs. On-demand content and online doubt clearing. Certification and internship opportunities.
For a course that ticks all these boxes and more, check out this link.
So, what are you waiting for?  A world of opportunity awaits!

How I cracked my Interview: Top 10 Interview skills
Tumblr media
Placement season has ended and understandably, it is one of the most hectic phases in every student’s life. Every student’s dream is to land his/her preferred role in campus placements and attain a sense of achievement and stability. However, not everyone is fortunate enough to successfully realize their dreams. After having a buoyant placement season, I’d like to share a few tips that were immensely conducive to my overall performance. Before you can sit for interviews, the first barrier that you would have to cross is the Aptitude test. Aptitude tests are common almost everywhere and are designed to test your higher order thinking skills rather than subject knowledge. Since there’s no dedicated training provided for Aptitude, many students find it difficult to ace this section. Here are a few helpful pointers to keep in mind.
1.    Finding the right preparatory material
In the modern information age, there is a plethora of study material available in all fields. A quick Google search will be enough to show you the abundance of options you have to prepare from. However, not everything will be your cup of tea. Every human being is unique and similarly, every book will be unique in its own way. Not everyone will be suited to the same. Look at some reputed books and choose one that fits your preparation. Some books might be too advanced, some might be too basic. You need to understand your level and select a book accordingly.
2.    Create your own notes and information sheet
Once you’ve decided on a book and started preparing earnestly, it is imperative that you make your own notes for quick reference. You cannot skim through the book every time you have a minor doubt. Make your own notes with quick tips, short-cuts, and formulae etc., for quick reference. Keep an information sheet that contains all the fundamentals so that you can revise everything at a glance.
3.    Practice Logical puzzles
A section that most students have a problem is logical thinking. It doesn’t have a set pattern or formulae to solve every question. Hence, it is necessary to solve as many as you can to familiarize yourself with the format and have an edge over others. Regular practice of logical thinking questions will help you master it in a short duration while also improving your analytical and logical thinking skills.
4.    Verbal questions
Verbal is a section that many non-native speakers struggle with. It not only tests your grammar and vocabulary but also your understanding of the language. It is highly recommended that you regularly practice verbal since it also has the added benefit of honing your language skills for the interview stage.
5.    Practice, Practice, Practice
It is a hackneyed phrase, but for a good reason. There is no such thing as “too much practice”. It can get overwhelming and repetitive at times but it is important that you stick with it and practice as much as possible. Besides improving speed, it also improves your confidence and gives you the courage to face new and difficult problems without panicking. Often, some questions are lifted verbatim from popular books. Thus, there is no downside to it. Keep practicing and soon, you might find yourself acing the tests you were previously worried about.
6.    Time your mock tests
Once you’re clear with the basics, it is time to step up your game. All the tests that you’ll be taking for various companies will be timed. So it is essential that you not only solve the problems but also do it at a good pace. Timed mock tests will be extremely helpful in this. Ideally, it is recommended that you take the mock tests during the time of the day when you’ll probably be taking the actual test. This will help you get acclimatized and concentrate properly during the tests, without getting distracted. Additionally, the difficulty level of mocks often tends to be around the same, if not higher, as the actual tests. This will help you get a fair idea of your potential score.
7.    Time Management
Often overlooked, Time Management is crucial especially if you want to rank in the higher percentiles. With consistent practice, you can become confident enough to tackle most problems on your own. However, there have been many cases where students get stuck on an especially hard one and as a result do not have enough time to complete the subsequent easy questions. Here’s where time management comes into play. You must make use of your limited time effectively. Allot a fixed amount of time for each question and try not to exceed it. If you feel that a certain question is solvable but is quite lengthy, flag it and move on to the next one. You do not want to miss the latter part of the paper because you spent a lot of time on one question. Solve the remaining and come back if you have time to the flagged ones. Managing time effectively is often the difference between making the cut-offs or just missing it.
8.    Smart solutions
Another overlooked aspect is figuring out shortcuts and practicing them. There is never just one way to solve a question. There is a plethora of ways to work out every question. It is up to you to determine the most efficient way through constant practice. For example, you do not need to solve every problem by making long calculations. If it’s a multiple choice question, you might be able to eliminate wrong answers from the given choices and be able to figure out the correct answer without actually making even a single calculation.
9.    Analysis of mocks
Despite following all of these, you might still find it difficult to master aptitude tests. This is where the best stand apart from the others: Mock Analysis. It is not enough that you write mock tests. It is also important that you do a thorough analysis after every mock. This helps you figure out your strong and weak areas and areas where you waste a lot of time. Regularly taking mock tests and analyzing them earnestly will go a long way in helping you ace the actual tests.
10.    Additional miscellaneous tips for the exam
If you have stuck with this till the end and did everything sincerely, then Kudos to you! You’re on the right track. However, it is important to remember that this is not a success guarantee. Tests are unpredictable and anything might happen on the D-day. It is necessary that you keep a calm head and take the tests confidently. Try to avoid any unnecessary complications that might arise. If it’s an online test, get yourself acquainted with the online interface by taking several mocks. Make sure you have the necessary stationery with you. Check for calculator availability and arrange for one as per requirements. Read the rules and instructions carefully and don’t overlook anything. Finally, do not worry about the end result and give your best shot. There’ll always be opportunities. Put your best foot forward and success will find you.

Scope of Python in Future
Tumblr media
Python is one of the best programming languages that is not only dynamic in nature but also is known for its multi-faceted usage in the industry. At braingroom, we always encourage our learners to be updated in their skill set. Check this blog to know more about Python and also the opportunities in the field.
Python is a highly extensible, multi-paradigm, general-purpose programming language. Guido van Rossum, a Dutch programmer, began working on a hobby programming project to keep himself occupied during the Christmas holidays in 1989. Being a big fan of Monty Python’s Flying Circus, he chose Python as the working title for a project that was meant to be a descendant of ABC, the then prominent programming language. Since its release, it has become widely popular, hailed for its simplistic syntax and semantics and visually pleasing, user-friendly formatting.
Being a general-purpose language, Python finds a plethora of applications. One of the most common applications of Python is in software testing. Because of its easy syntax and being open-source software, with an active community for support, it is the most preferred language for automated testing in the software industry. Although not used explicitly, Python is used in almost all software products as a means to achieve the final product, if not the final product itself. It is a dynamic language that is used to facilitate the tools necessary to build the final product. With its clean design, it is easy to work out the kinks and redesign the code as per requirements, thus becoming the most preferred language in coding circles.
Python’s ability to function across different operating software making it the prime candidate for use in Graphic User Interface (GUI) based desktop applications. Developers have access to various toolkits such as wxPython, PyQt, PyGtk which can be used to create highly functional GUIs. This finds a lot of applications in Image Processing, Graphic Design Applications, Computational Applications and Video Games. Additionally, it has also been used to create a multitude of web frameworks such as Django, TurboGears, CherryPy, Flask etc, which make it a must-know for web development. It also has several libraries for various internet protocols. Moreover, Python has also been used in operating systems themselves. For instance, it is an integral part of Linux distributions, featuring in Ubuntu’s Ubiquity installer and Fedora’s and Red Hat Enterprise Linux’s Anaconda installer as well as Gentoo Linux’s Portage, its package management system. Additionally, its simple syntax and module architecture has also influenced numerous languages such as Boo, Apple’s Swift, CoffeeScript, Cobra and OCaml.
However, these are only the presently existing technologies dependent on Python. Furthermore, there are some key future technologies and fields that are heavily dependent on Python. Artificial Intelligence, Big Data and Networking are three key areas that are reliant on the programming language for future development. Artificial Intelligence goes hand-in-hand with Machine Learning and is one of the most important fields currently. Python is often touted to be the best language to code with and this is especially true in the field of AI. It involves a lot of algorithms and with its clean syntax, Python can accomplish what other languages in just one-fifth of the code. Moreover, it has a lot of libraries that are pretty useful such as Numpy for computation, Pybrain for Machine Learning and Scipy for advanced math.

Powering India using Solar Panels
The future is green! You’ve heard this phrase countless times through your life. You probably yearn for the days of air, clean and pristine, void of the effects of fossil fuels. Well, those days do not seem far off, with giant steps being undertaken to ensure the day starts green. India is already using renewable sources like wind, solar and biomass for a fifth of its energy requirements. In fact, India is currently on track to be the third largest installer of photovoltaic cells. From small rooftop panels to a predicted total capacity of 100GW by 2022, the growth has been exponential. At braingroom, we always encourage our learners to be updated in their skill set.
With the production of solar cells and modules improving with each passing day, the potential of solar seems to shine out amongst renewable options. This is further solidified by the position taken by the Ministry of Power, with abundant support given to spread the usage of solar panels. Our tropical and sunny climate means that the solar energy available in a single year exceeds the possible energy output of all of the fossil fuel energy reserves in India. Not only is solar a clean and renewable energy but switching to PV cells reduces our dependence on exports, thereby strengthening our economy.
The above reasons can explain the rise of solar tech companies in India. The 2016 manufacturing capacity of solar cells and solar modules in India was 1,212 MW and 5,620 MW, respectively, amongst the highest across the world. Companies like Vikram Solar, Waaree, Adani, Emmvee and Jackson are leading the utility-scale solar projects in India. There is an abundance of opportunities for safe and secure employment in these companies. According to a report issued by the Natural Resources and Défense Council (NRDC) last year, India may end up creating over a million new jobs in its endeavour to have 100 GW of operational solar power capacity by March 2022. Solar panel instalment can prove to be the next big booming workforce. Students with degrees and diplomas can find themselves suitably rewarded for their engineering acumen in this field.
In many countries, including India, solar training institutes have sprung up, equipping students with the skill and ability to install solar panels in all environments. Most of the courses last a fortnight and provide both theoretical and practical knowledge in the basics of photovoltaic power systems, electromagnetic spectrum and radiation, designing solar power systems, testing and commissioning of solar power plants, and operation and maintenance. Such training institutes offer a variety of certification levels, be sure to take one that suits your profile. One thing to keep in mind before joining a course is the accreditation of the institute.
Make sure to get a certification that guarantees your expertise in the field. Learning the techniques for solar panel installation shouldn’t be complex but it always helps to have an experienced and reputed teacher. Keeping in mind the scope and likely boom of the solar sector, now is as good a time as ever, to begin your journey under the sun. With the right attitude and ambition, you can be sure of your contribution in making the world a better place!
