Wet N Wild - Review
Hi everyone! I hope you all are doing well during this quarantine. I really wanted to do another brand review since the Tarte one was so much fun to do. This time, I will be reviewing a popular brand by the name of Wet N Wild. Wet N Wild is known to be one of the cheapest drug store brands on the market today, with exceptional product quality. Let’s look more into their story, their ingredients, and their infamous products.
I went to Wet N Wild’s website and took a look at their layout. I’m assuming their brand colors consist of black, pink, and white. I found it simple and easy to navigate around their tabs. I scrolled all the way down to the “About Us” page where they listed 25 important facts about the brand. They made it the first thing to mention that their brand is, in fact, cruelty-free. The brand also mentions that they are the #1 value brand in America and emphasizes that they did not give themselves that label. This is not hard to believe, knowing that I’ve seen their products sold at most stores for a very affordable price. Wet N Wild also wants to make it clear that their products are meant for everyone of every age, ethnicity, skin type, etc. The brand has won many awards, like the Allure Best of Beauty Award, and they were not shy at all to flaunt their achievements. Those were just some facts that really stood out to me as a beauty advisor, but if you’d like to check it out for yourself the link will be right here: https://www.wetnwildbeauty.com/about-us.
Though Wet N Wild claims to be a cruelty-free brand, they are not yet 100% vegan. This might be a concern for some of you, but please keep in mind they are a cheaper company, so this does not surprise me. What does impress me about this brand is that they are slowly trying to make all of their products vegan. I very much appreciate that they have provided a list of all their products that ARE vegan, which you can see for yourself right here: https://www.wetnwildbeauty.com/vegan-product-list.
As you can see, this list is pretty long and that is surely respectable especially for a drug store brand! There’s not much about the ingredients that the brand uses apart from the usual. So there’s nothing that really makes this brand stand out in that sense.
Now for the moment most of you guys have been waiting for: product review/recommendations!
-PhotoFocus Foundation:
I did not see anything out of the ordinary within the ingredients, checked the reviews, and I didn’t see anything bad about people breaking out or having any problems. I will say that their shade range for their foundation is not as wide as they had emphasized in the “About” page. But, I personally love this foundation, and I find it very lightweight, yet deals full coverage and looks NATURAL. If you are just starting to test the waters with makeup, I highly recommend you use this foundation. It is very affordable for the price of $6.49 on the website (although, I have seen it at Walmart for about $5 bucks!) I think the best part about this foundation is that it has a spatula-like applicator to spread along the canvas of your face. This makes for a beautiful, smooth finish with easy application! https://www.wetnwildbeauty.com/photo-focus-foundation.html
-MegaGlo Highlighting Powder
This highlighter is definitely one of their more popular products. I have seen many people use this product before and I will tell you why it has gained so much publicity. The formula is light and for sure buildable. It’s one of those highlights that can be worn as a part of everyday makeup and more glam night outs. There are many shades, all of which, in my opinion, would look beautiful on everyone. I don’t think they’re too pigmented, but they’re definitely not too light either. Again, this is also a great starter product (although, I think Wet N Wild overall is a good brand to start with in general.) If you are looking for an everyday highlighter, I definitely recommend this one. https://www.wetnwildbeauty.com/megaglotm-highlighting-powder.html
Alright you guys, I hope you enjoyed this mini review! I love doing these, so I will most likely be posting a lot more with videos of myself using the products! If you have any suggestions for future brand reviews or possible topics you’d like me to write about, go ahead and email me or write to my “Ask Me” page! I hope you’re all still doing well during this quarantine. Remember to stay positive! After all, there’s always a rainbow at the end of a storm.
Cheers,

#StayAtHome: DIY Skincare!
I hope you all are well during this time of pandemic. I’m sure some time throughout the lock down you have found yourself dying of boredom. And although we cannot physically go out to our favorite beauty stores, there are still great ways to keep up with your skin routine and rock that natural look. Let’s explore some unbelievably amazing DIY skincare tips that can relieve some of the most common skin concerns; all of which can be done from the comfort of your own home.
DIY Acne Scrub:
High end brands will always go to great lengths to sell skincare that fights or prevents acne because of how regularly we see people with those problems. The downside of these types of products is that they are quite costly and sometimes can contain chemicals that can be harsh towards the skin and could break us out even more. Much like food, it is much better when you are the chef. You are 100% aware of what ingredients you use to cook, so you know what exactly goes into your body. That’s why some of the greatest treatments in life are home and self remedies.
These acne scrubs are really quick and easy to make, with little to no hassle using them. I’m sure you’ll find the following ingredients very familiar and lying unused around your house.
-Oatmeal Scrub:
- 3 tablespoons of uncut oatmeal (or just oats)
- 1 tablespoon of milk
- 1 tablespoon of water
Mix together. It should create a chunky paste. It’s recommended to keep it on for 40 mins, but I’ve personally halved the time and the results worked perfectly. Rinse it off with warm water afterwards!
Oatmeal is great for both dry and oily skin. It can act as an exfoliant, removing dead skin cells and it can also absorb excess oil, relieving the skin of dirt and grime. Oatmeal is also known to have antioxidant and anti inflammatory properties which can help with redness and promote healthy skin.
https://food.ndtv.com/beauty/oatmeal-for-skin-how-to-use-the-superfood-for-your-skin-and-beauty-needs-1827352
DIY Skin Tightening Mask:
-Banana Face Mask:
-½ ripe banana
-1 teaspoon of olive oil
-1 teaspoon of honey
Mix together. Apply the paste evenly and let it sit for a good 15 minutes. After, rinse with warm water.
Bananas are great products to use to help moisturize the skin. They contain vitamin A which have healing properties, helps maintain and protect the dermis and epidermis skin layers, normalise pigmentation, creates balanced skin, and keeps the look of natural, radiant, and youthful skin. Bananas also contain manganese, which help generate the natural collagen in our skin, which contain protein, and helps create youthful skin.
https://www.tasteofhome.com/collection/banana-benefits-for-hair-and-skin/
https://www.healthxchange.sg/food-nutrition/food-tips/good-reasons-eat-banana-today
DIY Lip Scrub:
-Brown Sugar Exfoliating Lip Scrub:
-1 tablespoon of honey
-1 tablespoon of brown sugar
Mix together. Massage the paste into the lips and then wait about 5 minutes. Though a lot of people just lick it off, I personally do not want to eat the dead skin cells so I wipe it off with a cloth soaked with warm water.
Honey is one of those superhero ingredients that most of us are aware of. Honey is a natural product which contains hydrating and moisturizing agents. Much like the other ingredients listed, honey is also anti inflammatory, contains antioxidants, and can even act as an exfoliant. It helps create radiant skin and eliminates dull skin cells, giving those lips a nice natural pinkish-red. The brown sugar exfoliates the skin and makes the overall product smooth and clean.
https://www.standardmedia.co.ke/evewoman/article/2001307032/seven-amazing-benefits-of-honey-on-your-skin-you-have-not-heard-before
I hope you find these DIYs fun and helpful! Maintaining a healthy skin care routine is always important, and although we cannot physically shop for our favorite brands at the moment, we can make do with what we have at home! Knowing what ingredients you are using on your skin is a huge plus. I have personally been using the brown sugar lip scrub for years now and I feel as though it is much more worth than to buy a high end one. I definitely recommend for you guys to look for other DIY activities during this quarantine. I think it will benefit all of you so that you will remain productive and positive. You never know, maybe you’ll find a new hobby that will stick with you! I wish you all good health and brighter days. Feel free to message me for tips, questions, or just to chat.
Enjoy these DIYs and #StayAtHome and stay safe! :)

Tarte - Review
I believe I was first introduced to Tarte cosmetics by watching a vlog on YouTube. A bunch of beauty influencers such as PatrickStarrr, MannyMUA, and Bretman Rock, all of which exceed 4 million subscribers on YouTube, were treated to a Hawaiian vacation. All influencers stayed in a luxurious resort and were given an itinerary for meals and fun activities, fully paid by the company. My first impression of Tarte was definitely extravagant. I was impressed by the company’s tactic to invite social media stars to Hawaii and show off one of the many natural ecosystems they collect their ingredients from. That’s why even before working at Sephora, Tarte has always been one of those brands that stood out to me. Their concept of promoting eco-friendly products and lifestyle is very attractive.
Before I review some of their products, I wanted to chat a little more about the actual company. I did some research on Tarte’s website (https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/explore/about-tarte/)  and went to their about page. Not only does this brand encourage and use natural ingredients, but they are also hypoallergenic, cruelty-free, vegan-friendly, and like to give back to the environment and protect it. Tarte cooperatively works in ways that will ensure that the ecosystem in which they obtain their ingredients is well taken care of, including environments such as the rainforest and the ocean. The website also briefly talks about the idea of kindness and being a good samaritan.
As most people believe, the more natural the ingredients, the better the products. I can almost 100% agree with that. There are a lot of brands, I won’t name companies, that try their best to incorporate natural ingredients, and sometimes, it just doesn’t work. I can strongly say that Tarte is a very environment, animal, and human friendly company and also has some amazing products.
*An important note: on every Tarte product listed on their website, the tag always reads, “Always formulated without parabens, mineral oil, phthalates, triclosan, sodium lauryl sulfate, and gluten.” A lot of makeup and skin care products contain these ingredients that aren’t too good for the skin. Again, Tarte’s motto is all about “the natural.” Which is why they use fruit and plant extracts such as maracuja fruit and marine algae.
I am about to list some of the products from Tarte that I have personally used and found that they work amazingly:
-Drink of H2O Hydrating Boost Moisturizer
https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/best-sellers/drink-of-h2o-hydrating-boost-moisturizer/777.html?cgid=best-sellers&dwvar_777_color=multi#start=21
This is a vegan, hydrating moisturizer, filled with electrolytes. It can be used everyday to smooth and soothe skin. In my opinion, it gives a beautiful, natural glow once applied. I’ve seen this product on many people, so I know that it works well with all types of skin.
-Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation
https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/best-sellers/water-foundation-broad-spectrum-spf-15/772.html?dwvar_772_color=medium-tan%20golden&cgid=best-sellers#page=2&start=40
This is a vegan, hypoallergenic, water-based foundation with medium (buildable) coverage. It gives a very natural finish to the skin and is supposed to have a lightweight feel. I personally think that because this product is water-based, it gives that extra hydration for people with dry skin, but for those with oily skin, I would just recommend using a mattifying primer underneath this foundation.
-Aquacealer Concealer
https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/best-sellers/aquacealer-concealer/767.html?cgid=best-sellers&dwvar_767_color=fair-light#page=2&start=44
Much like the Sea Water foundation, the Aquacealer Concealer also gives a natural, medium coverage for under eyes, dark spots, and blemishes. I believe this product does a great job when one wants to build up the coverage. Another perk to this product is that it acts as a hydrating serum as well.
-Rainforest of the Sea Quench Hydrating Primer
https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/best-sellers/rainforest-of-the-sea-quench-hydrating-primer/1332.html?cgid=best-sellers&dwvar_1332_color=multi#page=2&start=46
This is a great product for my “lazies” out there or if you’re in a rush. I love using this product because it pretty much acts as a moisturizer and primer in one, so you have skin care and makeup coming together. I highly recommend this product for people with dry skin, and applying it before putting on your foundation.
-Maneater Voluptuous Mascara
https://tartecosmetics.com/en_US/makeup/eyes/mascara/maneater-mascara/856.html?dwvar_856_color=black&cgid=makeup-eyes-mascara#start=4
This is one of Tarte’s many mascaras that gives perfect length, volume, and dark pigment to your lashes. This product works great if you’re looking for maybe a more fluttery, wispy lash look. I personally love this mascara because it does a great job of lifting my (nonexistent) lashes and because it DOES NOT flake! I also highly recommend trying this mascara on your bottom lashes, I promise they’ll look beautiful.
Also, if you’d like to check out the YouTubers that I listed above, here are there channel links:
-Patrick Starrr
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCDHQbU57NZilrhbuZNbQcRA
-MannyMUA
https://www.youtube.com/user/MannyMua733
-Bretman Rock
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC3EFKdXAU99j3ppGgvTz7XQ
If you ever have the opportunity to play with Tarte at Sephora or Ulta, I highly recommend investing in their products. This is a great company, with a beautiful message of promoting natural beauty with the beautiful nature around us!

Treating Dry Skin
In my last post, I talked about 3 ways on how to deal with oily skin. Now, I’m going to tell you guys my findings on dry skin! There is a natural oil called sebum that our skin produces. As I’ve said in my previous post, too much of this oil will make your skin feel greasy which leads to pimples because of dirt being trapped in. But if your skin doesn’t produce enough sebum, it could lead to dryness. Dry skin ends up feeling itchy and once scratched, could lead to irritation, cuts, and redness
(see article here for more information: .https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324935)
I personally deal with oily skin on my face, but the majority of my body is very dry. Sometimes my skin feels more oily or more dry depending on the weather. I think for me, living in Las Vegas with dry heat helps my oiliness. But when it is winter time like it is now, the weather is almost like a very parched chill and that’s when my skin starts to get dry patches.
Being a beauty advisor, I have realized that a lot of skin products do not have fragrances. Those are products that commonly use harsh chemicals that can completely unbalance your skin’s pH levels. Usually, the more hypo-allergenic brands do not have a specific scent to them. There are of course great products that help treat problematic skin that have scents, and this is just depending on what you want the product to do. For example, certain flowers, such as roses, help reduce redness because of its anti-inflammatory properties. It also helps with hydration. (see article here for more information: https://www.indigo-herbs.co.uk/natural-health-guide/benefits/rose) Some products that contain ingredients, like vitamin C, that can help brighten a dull face, dark spots, and under eyes. Try finding products that use hyaluronic acids and ceramides, which help protect from the pollution of our environments, keep moisture locked into the skin, and has healing properties that help with anti-aging.
I want to suggest a couple high-end products that I like to recommend to my customers at Sephora and also some more affordable drug store brands as well. Try them out and let’s see some change in that beautiful skin!

3 Simple Ways to Help that Oily Skin
Do you have oily skin? Are you always searching for mattifying products? Do you avoid oils and other serums?
Well, let me tell you something. Oily skin actually needs these hydrating and greasy products!
Many of my customers at Sephora come to me asking how to balance their oily skin. They are always shocked to find out that the drier the products they use, the more grease shows up on their face. The reason for oiliness is because the face needs hydrating. So naturally, your body will produce oils to give your skin the moisture that it needs. Excess of these oils can cause problems like clogged pores, blackheads, or pimples, which are things we all don’t want.
Here are some simple ways to give your skin the hydration that it needs:
1.) DRINK A LOT OF WATER. This may be the simplest, yet most effective way to see results in your skin. Drinking lots of water in general is, of course, really good for your body. As the saying goes, "you are what you eat," and I promise it will show.
With this in mind, I wanted to add a short article, by Byrdie, that lists particular foods that can cause oily skin. It’s always okay to indulge in your favorite foods, as long as it’s not all the time. Oily skin due to bad eating habits = acne!
https://www.byrdie.com/oily-skin-causes
2.) Wash your face at least twice a day, once in the morning when you wake up and once at night before bed. Cleaning your face gives your skin a fresh base for makeup, and helps it tackle the day much easier.
3.) Try hydrating moisturizers! There are a few different types of moisturizers, including lotions, gels, serums, etc.
Here are some really high-quality product recommendations [* = personal favorite]:
-*Drunk Elephant - B-Hydra Intensive Hydration Serum
-Origins - Ginzing Ultra-Hydrating Energy-Boosting Cream
-*Glow Recipe - Watermelon Pink Juice Oil-Free Moisturizer Gel
-Biossance - Squalane + Omega Repair Cream
-*Youth To The People - Kale + Spinach Green Tea Hyaluronic Acid Superfood Air-Whip Moisture Cream
-Tatcha - The Water Cream
I wanted to share another short article by Byrdie that explains the difference between dry and dehydrated skin. This will help you understand what type of skin you actually have.
https://www.byrdie.com/dry-skin-oil-production
Let me know if you guys have any personal questions regarding oily skin. We all have different skin types, so of course, we want to cater to what’s best for you. You can reach me on my “Ask Anonymously” feature or email located on my homepage. :)

For my readers,
Ever since I was a little girl, I have always been interested in makeup. I remember sneaking around in my mother’s closet, looking through her makeup kit, and admiring the few lipsticks she had. One of my most vivid memories as a child was actually putting on my first lipstick. A beautiful shade of brick red with a slight shimmer in mint green packaging that had a particular smell to it. It was Clinique, actually. I am brought back every time I use that brand, for it served as my first glimpse into the world of makeup.
Working as a beauty advisor has really expanded my knowledge of the beauty industry. My Tumblr blog called YouthBeauty is made to provide advice to anyone interested in expanding and improving their makeup and/or skin care knowledge. From experience, I know very well that there are a lot of people who are too shy to expose their insecurities and do not want to physically come into a makeup store to ask for genuine advice so they buy whatever might be trending. But the unfortunate truth behind buying the latest and most popular products is that they might not always work out for you. Now there’s nothing wrong with wanting to try out new products, but just like buying a house, buying makeup is an investment and must be chosen to fit the needs and wants of the individual. YouthBeauty is meant to help those who want to know how to apply certain makeup, give advice on how to handle different skin types, educate on what certain products do, help expand their beauty knowledge to use products tailored for them, and for those who are unsure of what they’re looking for but want to learn. In a more brief explanation, YouthBeauty can basically be a beauty consultation online in the form of a blog.
I will be writing about tips and tricks/how-to’s, brand promotions, personal product suggestions, and other advice. I want to be able to tend to people’s personal needs and help them choose products that would help them complement their natural beauty. For example, I currently have a draft talking about a common inconvenience that many people seem to have, which is oily skin. In my post, I have explained possible reasons for oily skin and I also provided my reader with tips and products that will help balance out their skin. But the biggest part of those kinds of posts will be to explain why they are experiencing whatever the issue may be. Like every problem, the way to solve it is by addressing and genuinely understanding the issue. By knowing what certain products or regimens do and why they do it, helps the client better understand their issue which leads to them treating it properly. One main motivation for writing about beauty for my blog is because, in this day and age, it’s really important to help people understand their worth. Makeup can sometimes be put down by society with people believing that it is an artificial way to present oneself. In my eyes, makeup is another outlet of art for people to express themselves. It helps bring a confidence that women, or men, never realized they had. As the famous social media and beauty star, Patrick Starrr, always says, “Makeup is a one size fits all, and when you look good, you feel good.” My goal is not to help people find products that will cover up their flaws. I want to help those who struggle with insecurities and help them embrace their imperfections by tending to their needs and their desires to look their absolute best.

Perfume Application Tips: How to Layer & Make Your Fragrance Last Longer
Perfume has the unique ability to capture and awake our dearest memories of a cherished experience, place or a special someone. It can also turn you into focus of attention and let’s face it, we all want to smell great all day long. But often, we elegantly spritz a couple of drops of our favourite scent only to notice that it’s gone by noon or we douse ourselves in the perfume so everyone can smell it, even those on the other end of the city.
However, there are a few tricks that can help you get the most of your favourite fragrance without using the entire bottle in one day.
Tumblr media
TIP: Go for a strong base note
Fragrance consists of top notes, heart notes and middle notes. Top notes are the initial scent you smell after spritzing your fragrance, and it tends to fades quickly; heart notes are the middle of the fragrance, often developing throughout the day, as these warm and wear the underlying scent you left is in the base notes, the heaviest scent that lingers the longest. Perfume with more prominent base notes will last longer than lighter fragrances with scents in the top notes category. one with prominent top notes. Base notes usually include balsamic or woody flavours, as well as spicy and leathery ones; they are the stronger ones. Citrus, floral and green scents have lighter base notes which are more volatile, therefore it will evaporate quicker.
TIP: Apply to your pulse points
Fragrance reacts to heat, so applying it to parts of the body that are likely to heat up during the day helps release the scent. Pulse points include neck, inner elbow, wrists and back of the knee.
TIP: Don’t rub
Try not rubbing your wrists together. Friction will cause the top notes to fade faster and the perfume won’t last as long. If you can’t spray the fragrance, then try to dab it on your skin really gently.

HOW TO REMOVE STUBBORN FOUNDATION & CONCEALER
Bring your makeup brushes back to life by removing that stubborn staining and waxy residue that foundations & concealers leave behind!  Lots of makeup products contain silicones, oils and pigments that can leave our makeup brushes looking a little worse for wear and not something that you want to be rubbing over your face.  Using a brush soap and water alone often doesn’t cut it, especially when you’ve been using concealer. That waxy residue can be hard to remove which means you definitely won’t have fresh looking bristles.  Check out my quick way to bring them back to life!

How to maintain healthy hair
1. Comb wet hair
You should always comb wet hair with extreme care as it is fragile and prone to breakage. Take a broad toothed comb and run it from the roots to the ends of your hair as gently as possible.
2. Get your hair trimmed regularly
Trim your hair every few weeks to get rid of those split ends to make you hair look and feel healthier. Cut about half and inch of your hair every 6/8 weeks to avoid the split ends to grow out again.
3. Avoid washing your hair everyday
Washing your hair everyday will make it more oilier and more prone to getting greasy. Try to wash you hair at least every 2 days and use dry shampoo the days you don’t wash it. If you don’t have oily hair try to go longer than 2 days.
4. Conditioner
Always make sure to condition the ends. Rinse the conditioner off with cold water as it is good for both strength and shine.
5. Hair masks
There are a range of hair masks you can get to suit your hair, whether it be for greasy hair or for frizzy hair. Ideally you can use hair masks every time you wash your hair, but once a week is okay.

Get your dream hair colour! -Get crazy if you want
Learn to be comfortable with your body
Don’t shower every day -I know, I know… but listen… It’s actually much healthier for your skin to shower every other day and wash your hair even less. Plus it saves a lot of water.
Get a perfume -Have a scent
Get enough sun -You don’t have to be tan but getting sun on your skin is very healthy and it’s visible in other ways than tan.
Smile and spread joy
If you’re happy, show it -It’s contagious
