(Katherine you can view my page just don't tell me if you did) Howdy! I'm a 21 year old nonbinary game developer/programmer (C++ C# lua) who loves Red Vox, Radiohead, Outer Wilds and Risk of Rain 2. I came to Tumblr from the great 196 migration. If you're reading this, please talk to me, I will be your friend if you ask. I am learning Japanese and I know a bit of toki pona and Esperanto.

I've been trying to add Lua support to my engine and I made this example scene to test it.
This is the code:
I'm trying to make the API like Roblox and Unity combined because that's what I'm used to.
(I tried posting this once but it didn't work so there might be 2 posts)

I got balls.
Everything in Vulkan is sooo slooow to setup (or maybe I'm slow because I haven't used it) but It's so satisfying to have it work in the end. I setup a dynamic UBO for the mesh positions. I plan on changing this later but for now i have actual usable visuals. 😭
Hopefully I will be able to make an incredibly simple game out of these tools soon.

I can now load and display as many meshes as I want! (or as my gpu will hold) I'm putting all the models into a single vertex and index buffer and then just setting the index offset to pick a model. I don't know if that's the right way to do it but it's a way. now all i gotta do is give the models their own position attribute and i can make the worlds most simple game.

I feel like I'm finally starting to understand Vulkan. I'm waiting until I get too confident and then rug-pulled, but for now, I'm actually enjoying this. Now I just need to talk to about graphics programming... (I got my friend to start learning OpenGL at least!)

found out about a genre someone's dreams made up called "hit em" that was described as 212 bpm 5/4 crunchy music and i decided to take 15 minutes and put my own distorted hellishness onto it
melody and mixing needs a lot of work but this is a good start methinks
i tried to make it "true" 5/4 and not just 4/4 with an extra beat (there is a difference), kinda like what schwank - $1.78 did where it actually feels like 7/8 and didnt just cut off a half beat every measure (at least thats what it feels like to me)

i tried to make a cover of dumb by nirvana. it's not super accurate and i also didn't have a cello, so i had to use a melodica. i think i learned some stuff tho from making this.

I finally made the Vulkan triangle 😭
I'm really not too good at this because this took like probably about 20 hours in total just to see a rainbow triangle.
Now I have to figure out how to make it look like this...
No clue how I'm gonna do it but I've gotten this far by just trying so maybe it'll work out.

damn I really want to be friends with this individual
About Me
thought i would make this post because why not
My online pseudonym is Cerulity32K, casually Cerulity. Though, my preferred name is Kali.
Though my mental conditions are mild, I do have ADHD (inattentive) and am seeking an autism evaluation. I am also trans (she/they).
But let's get to the good stuff. I excel in computing, especially low-level stuff and graphics (webdev scares me) and math, advanced functions, calculus and linear algebra being the most useful to me. I like to intersect math and computing, and it leads to some pretty fun results, especially when dealing with graphics. My main languages are Rust, C, C++, CUDA, C#, and Python, though I am trying to understand Assembly for a few systems (my laptop [x86_64], NES [6502], and the Atari 2600 [6507]). The main libraries I go to are Raylib and Macroquad for 2D games, and for 3D I go for wgpu, Vulkan, or OpenGL, though wgpu may be the main one I use from now on.
I also do music. My favourite types of music are either loud, distorted songs (FREE.99), literally noise (Portal 2 OST), or electronic-jazz fusion (Creo). I also sometimes make music. It's usually remixes or covers, as I suck at melody crafting, but I have made a couple original songs. I specialize in industrial chiptune and what I like to call "rustcore". My two music environments are LMMS and Furnace, though the latter is the main one I use nowadays.
My favourite game genres are automation, puzzle, and platformer. Factorio, Exapunks, and Celeste are my favourites in those genres respectively.
Other than that, I like to do procedural or subdiv modelling in Blender.
All in all, I'm just a software catgirl :3

i finished it. i kinda gave up half way through because i just wanted it to be finished. this was my first time *actually* trying to mix something and it's not super great and i'm pretty sure there are multiple popping noises in it, but whatever i'll make more songs and get it right.

I have the urge to work on my personal game again because of the idea of making music for it in 16 tone equal temperament. It's made in a custom game engine and I don't know if I should just continue where I left off or separate the game engine into a library so the game code is different. There's a lot of stuff that needs fixing but if I were to start again I would do a lot of things differently which makes me wonder if it would be better to start from scratch. I've been working on this on and off for 3 years now. I don't know if I'll ever manage to finish what I want to make and that's probably my fault for wanting to do it the most complicated way I could imagine.
