Monday ...
If you really said this then thank you Yasmin for sharing. I’d also say and the rest ... the crying, the worthlessness, the left feeling you can’t do the job you were once good at I could go on. The menopause stinks. More people need to share in order to help other’s.

Wednesday
This year I’m going to ...
Grow another year bolder.
Tomorrow I’m beginning a Creative Writing course at a local college. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while and have never found a suitable course on the right day at the right time etc, etc. Well I’ve found a ten week course and I’m really looking forward to attending the first session tomorrow evening.
I’ve also submitted a children’s book I’ve written to a publisher. Fingers crossed.

Monday ...
I read MSN page on my I pad most evenings and some mornings. Today being a bank holiday I read it this morning. I start with the real news stuff, cast my eye over sporting articles and read those I’m interested in and if I have time I read the ‘other’ bits such as celebrity news etc. After reading an article today my question to you is are we a nanny state/world and why can’t people mind their own business? (Technically two questions). The headline which grabbed my attention today was the following:
‘Beckham sparks safety debate after letting Harper drive golf cart’
As you can imagine there were lots of negative comments relating to his irresponsibility. Actually she wasn’t on the cart alone and didn’t appear to be in danger. I’m sure DB is a lot of things but it is clear that he adores his children and would not let them come to any harm or willingly put them in any danger. I would suspect she begged him and after she looked at him with her beautiful eyes he melted and agreed. Yes VDB do post images and some might say other’s have a right to comment but when did it become wrong to allow our children to take risks? We are rearing a bunch of namby pambies. When our children were quite young (they are older now, married, partners, children etc) we often went to the Metro Centre drove to the top floor of the multi storey car park and yes allowed the children to sit on my husbands knee and drive (steer) the car around the top floor and then park the vehicle. There I said it I was an irresponsible, bad parent. Did they come to any harm? No they didn’t. Did they have fun? Yes they did. Did they do this when there were lots of cars around? No they didn’t. Do they remember it with fond memories? Yes they do. My youngest son commented recently that he looked forward to this treat and was saddened by the fact that his son won’t experience this because he would be either filmed on the car park cctv or by some do-gooder with an I phone and the incident reported to the authorities or worse posted on social media. I’m not saying what we did was right or wrong or what DB was right or wrong but come on lighten up, mind your own business and take it as what it was meant to be - a father and daughter having fun. I rest my case.
You continue to enjoy taking ‘risks’ and having fun with your children Mr Beckham they aren’t young for long and then those precious moments will have gone.

Yippee it’s snowing. Time for some fun. My son, grandson and his step mum had a fabulous time building a snowman, throwing snowballs and generally having lots of fun.

Thursday
Our grandson is 3 today and we’ve spent a lovely afternoon with him and a few relatives for a proper little tea party complete with a Paddington Bear birthday cake.
He is an only grandchild and our love for him is immeasurable.
We plan to live until a ripe old age and watch him grow and flourish. We want him to...
Be happy.
Tell the truth.
Work hard.
Laugh out loud.
Say I love you everyday.
See the world.
Help others.
Say please and thank you.
Be kind, considerate and tolerant.
Do his best.
And together we want to...
Jump in puddles.
Climb trees.
Lie in the grass.
Dream big.
Reach for the stars.
Run barefoot.
Make snow angels.
Imagine.
Fly a kite.
Laugh, giggle and be silly.
Make mud pies.
Look for shapes in the clouds.
Spin until we are dizzy.
Get the last click and ride no handers.
Shout and scream at the top of our voices.
Build a fort or a castle or whatever he wants.
Enjoy stories.
Make wishes come true.
Roll down hills.
Learn magic tricks.
And most of all we want to be here to see ...
Our boy spread his wings and fly.

Tuesday (Boxing Day)
I had a ‘saw this and thought of you’ moment today. It was a quote, I sent it to my sister stating that it should be our mantra for 2018:
I am in charge of how I feel and today I’m choosing happiness.
Sorry don’t know who to attribute it too.
I believe we all need a wee bit more happiness in our lives and we should aim to make 2018 the year of happiness. In the words of Dolly Parton:
“If you see someone without a smile give them one of yours.”

Friday ...
today is all about communication.
Recently we were at Wetherspoons having breakfast when I observed (I’m a people watcher) a family of three, one female adult and two children around 8 to 10 years old. During the twenty minutes or so I observed them not one person in the party communicated. The children were busy with paper activities provided by the chain and the adult glued to her phone. You can now order food via an app so the adult didn’t even need to communicate with a member of staff. I may be doing the trio a disservice they may have been communicating all morning and this was just quiet downtime I’ll let you decide.
However, if I thought that was high on the non communication front what I observed a couple of weeks later was much, much worse. An adult female pushing a baby (approximately 18 months old) in a forward facing pushchair, therefore no verbal or non-verbal communication. If that wasn’t bad enough the adults only focus was her telephone, she was also wearing earphones. So not only could she not see the impressionable child she could not hear them either. Appalling on all fronts. Is it any wonder that children are attending nursery with poor speaking, listening and understanding skills. In a nutshell children are lacking in vital life skills because they are not being spoken too, sung too or read too from birth.
Please, please, please put away your mobile devices and communicate.

Pause for Thought
I’m not an incredibly religious person in fact I don’t quite know what I believe in however I thoroughly enjoy listening to the Pause for Thought section on Radio 2’s Chris Evans breakfast show. My favourite speaker is The Reverend Kate Bottley I could listen to her words of wisdom and dulcet tones all day long.
Today Kate talked about visiting her poorly mother in hospital and as a recent hospital visitor myself I could relate to her some of her words. I finished the crossword with my dad, discussed the weather and what he had had for his tea, and when all conversation dried up we just watched the world go by, in simple terms we people watched in the small ward he called home for a couple of weeks.
Kate talked about small gestures of kindness today. The kindness she witnessed during those quiet moments at visiting time much the same as I did.
The sharing of newspapers (even though the crosswords were completed), the staff remembering how patients liked their cup of tea, the chat between patients and visitors, a simple smile, the plumping up of pillows, I could go on. I witnessed many acts of kindness both verbal and non verbal which all seemed to brightened a small part of the day for often quite poorly people.
It costs nothing to give someone a smile, a wave, help them on with their slippers, put a neighbour’s bin out, pick up a piece of litter, put your own litter in a bin all these things are small things which don’t take too long to accomplish.
Kate finished her segment with these words of wisdom,
“Little things really matter and they soon add up to make a big difference.”
I believe if we all did a small gesture of kindness each day I’m sure the world would be a better place.

Wednesday ...
I’ve been shopping with my new daughter-in-law today. We had a really good time, it’s a welcome change to have another female in the family. We shopped, we ate lunch, we talked and we laughed.
Charlie Chaplin (1889-1977) once said;
“A day without laughter is a day wasted.”
We certainly didn’t waste a single second today.

Monday ...
Most people are guilty of procrastination for whatever reason. We are all very good at excuses, reasons why not, if fact we could have done the thing in the time it takes us to convince ourselves why we are putting it off.
However, I know I feel a great sense of achievement once a task is completed.
So...
in the words of Philip Stanhope, 4th Earl of Chesterfield,
Know the true value of time; snatch, seize, and enjoy every moment of it. No idleness, no laziness, no procrastination: never put off till tomorrow what you can do today.”
So get off your backsides and get it done!

Sunday’s ...
offering isn’t a quote from a celebrity, historian, world leader or politician but from an article I read on MSN. A piece about a seemingly ordinary person with an inspiring story to share. Read all about Johanna Eppley’s trials and tribulations at blogonadiet.blogspot.co.uk or search for her story on MSN.
Her mantra, she says is simple and these are the words which inspired me,
“Do as much as you can do today, and then try again tomorrow and see what you can do then.”
Each day you get a little stronger, a little faster, and a little more brave. Then an amazing thing happens and one day you wake up and have become the person you had set out to be.”

Why ...
Bridget-the-Fidget? It’s actually a moniker my brother-in-law gave me quite sometime ago. He thinks I fidget, get excited about adventures and can’t sit still. He’s perfectly correct, I can’t deny it. I like going places, having experiences and adventures and get excited about them all. I like making things, writing about things, collecting things and organising things. I’m about to start a ‘commonplace book’, read all about them on Anita Lacerta’s website
I love collecting quotes and aim to write an inspiring quote in my commonplace book each day, as well as other things. It’s a gorgeous Ted Baker number my son bought me for Christmas last year and I’ve just decided what to use it for.
I’m hoping to add a quote to my blog each day (please forgive me if life gets in the way sometimes) but that’s my plan.
Today’s offering is:
“Life’s an adventure. Don’t forget to pack pants!”
Apologies I don’t know who said this, if you do let me know and I’ll attribute it.
