Preserving the Flow: A Water Conservation Crusade

It was the year 2071, when I, Eloísa Briones, was 65 years old. By this time, you can imagine the changes that have taken place in the world. First of all, now there are more screens everywhere, practically everything is digital, and material things like notebooks, books, etc. are almost non-existent. First, it all started when I was drinking chocolate on my favorite sofa  when suddenly I heard my dog barking, an action he does when he is thirsty, so I decided as always to get up to serve him his water. Then, when I turned on the faucet, everything changed, as I could confirm the news that had been scaring everyone for the last few months. Because of it, I froze, I just could not believe it. We had run out of water,forever.

- Come see what happened Nonina! -Immediately, I shouted to Nonina .

- I can´t believe it. -She responds.

At this time, I knew this was going to happen at some point but I didn't think it was going to be so soon, so I quickly pulled out my magic time machine, where of course I planned to put into practice my plan that I had worked out months ago. After, together with my dog Nonina we got on the time machine and decided to go back to my city Guayaquil in the year 2026 when I was 20 years old. Additionally, at this time I was so young that I felt I could do whatever I wanted, so I took advantage of that and created my campaign to try to make people aware of water and how they are really wasting it. Consequently, my plan was to bring pictures, news, and physical proof of their future outcome. After planning how to convince people to preserve water we started going all over the city taking these images to people, but since obviously at that time most of them were using the internet our option was to publish these proofs all over social networks so that they would go viral. 

-What do you think of the campaign we have created, Nonina?

-I think it's great! We are really making a change for our time.

Finally, we achieved our goal of making people aware and subsequently saw an answer to the problem, when many people started to save, seeing the change in the city or even seeing how people did the same as we did. So together with Nonina, we returned home more relaxed with the change we were able to achieve in our society.

How did I save water yesterday?

Yesterday was holiday, that´s why my family and I didn´t stay at home all day so we use water only for wash the dishes of the breakfast because we were out the rest of the day.
