i feel so bad for all of the womens figure skating athletes in these olympics

On the one hand I love watching figure skating on the other I'm one step from bashing the kneecaps of the people who are starving and abusing young girls just so they can jump quads for a season or two before their bodies break

Get Kamila Valieva out of the competition & then in therapy. Russian figure skating is child abuse.

Kamila Valieva

Kamila Valieva is a 15-year old Russian figure skater who is competing in womens figure skating in the Olympics.

Many people were calling her the best female figure skater competing this year, and were sure she'd take home gold for her country.

But, her drug test recently came back positive for three heart drugs: Hypoxen, L-carnitine, and trimetazidine. Valieva had listed Hypoxen and L-carnitine on a doping-control form for the Olympics. Trimetazidine, on the other hand, is a banned substance in the Olympics.

Trimetazidine's main function is that of a heart drug usually prescribed to older people, but it can also increase stamina and lessen fatigue.

Valieva was allowed to continue competing.

My thoughts

I don't think it's right for her to be competing, but I'm not entirely blaming her for the situation.

I'll start with the fact that she's only 15 and must be under a lot of pressure. We also don't know what her coaches were giving her and if they were telling her it was something different than it actually was.

I do think she shouldn't have been allowed to compete to make it fair for the other competitors, who won't be getting a medal ceremony.

BUT, the media is making it seem like this drug makes her absolutely perfect at figure skating and is completely ignoring the fact that she had to train and learn moves and tricks, ignoring the fact that she'd fallen and started crying after her performance tonight. The media is putting so much pressure on her.

Olympians and the media have been apologizing to the public that we had to watch her skate. Her performance was barely commentated on and the American reporters are tearing her apart.

Literally get her to therapy.

I feel like it's half her fault and half not. I DO NOT think she should continue competing in Bejing.

tomorrow is dress up as a superhero day at our school (can be actual superhero or like a doctor or something) so im wearing a red shirt with a spooderman logo under a lab coat. its a reference to peter 3 in nwh in a way also. credits go to my mother for that idea.

wonder hits close to home

in Wonder, i feel like via's character is done so well. the way she feels about her parents giving almost all their attention to auggie, the way she feels that her house is like the earth and auggie is the sun. that the earth revolves around the sun, not the daughter. like damn- i felt that. the way she told justin she was an only child. the way she didn't tell her parents about the play.

and in the movie- the emotion is conveyed SO WELL. like i have tears forming in the back of my eyes every time i watch it. every time i read the book.

it's how it feels to be an older child- your parents divert their attention to the youngest. sometimes it feels like you don't even exist.

via has her own problems in life, like miranda and her feelings about her parents and auggie, and when she finally got to talk to her mom about it, auggie had an issue at school.

i do feel a little bit that auggie thinks the world revolves around him (i know he has it hard too don't come at me) because of all the attention he gets and stuff like that, and doesn't acknowledge via's issues. and the parents are so used to auggie having issues that when it comes to via, they don't seem to care as much. "Be kind, for everyone is fighting a hard battle. And if you really want to see what people are, all you have to do is look."

and knowing your parents try hard, and not wanting to hurt their feelings if you tell them you don't feels as loved or that you feel like you don't exist. especially if they're trying hard. if you don't tell them, you'll still feel like shit. if you do, then they'll feel like shit AND you'll feel like shit.

i'm glad that via has justin, though. that he didn't mind that she lied about being an only child. he knew where she was coming from and understood why she said it. he's gotta be one of my favorites, even though he's a side character, he made a big impact.

i would want mr browne as a teacher. i like him more in the movie for some reason as a character -also maybe cause it's daveed diggs- BUT MAINLY AS A CHARACTER I THINK :)))))))

anyways, it may be a kids book, but

wonder is a gem.
