My review of ‘The Nightmare Before Kissmas’
⭐️⭐️⭐️
Saw the cover.
Thought WOLFSTAR.
Bought the book.
If you look through the reviews, you'll find that everyone describes this book as cute. Cute. Cute. Cute. And it was indeed cute—just cute.
So cute that I felt like I was vomiting rainbows!
What can I say? I prefer a certain amount of angst in my stories, and this book did not deliver. Honestly, I felt it was much longer than necessary. The whole "Christmas Politics" plot felt far-fetched, as if the author wanted to create a nice little gay Christmas story, but her agent insisted, "Tsk tsk, it needs a deeper plot! We need a story!Nobody just wants to read about two guys—one a sunshine-confident (but deep down self-conscious) Christmas prince and the other a shy, melancholy Halloween prince—who fall in love, but can’t be together; yet they also can’t stay away from each other. It’s forbidden, but it feels so right.”
You get what I mean, right?
Moreover, if you're going to write about Christmas, then you need to convey the magic of the holiday! (They literally just watched Christmas movies and called it a day) I'm Jewish, but I have always been fascinated by Christmas. There is a certain magic that the holiday brings out which I did not feel in this story.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the next book. I saw it’s an enemies-to-lovers story, so it could be a hit or a miss!

My review of Wrath of The Triple Goddess
🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
I think I might be a bit biased towards everything related to Percy Jackson… (book, not TV)
Well, what can I say? Another hilarious adventure with our beloved trio—lovey-dovey Percabeth and a contented Sally. It’s safe to say I loved it. I’m healed. I’m happy.
I found the first half of the book to be a bit slow. The trio's characteristics felt shallow and lacking depth, as if Rick only highlighted very specific aspects of their personalities. However, the writing improved significantly as the story progressed. The second half of the book really saved it for me.
we witnessed more conflicts among the trio, and we gained a deeper understanding of the minor characters. We saw a more vulnerable side of Annabeth, especially her deep love for Percy, although I feel she sometimes underestimates him. Her dedication to her friends and her openness with Percy all demonstrate how much she has grown as a person. She is truly maturing into a remarkable woman.
Additionally, Rick remembered to give Grover some personality this time around which is a great bonus! We also get a really really incredible Percy The Boyfriend scene which may or may not made me cry….
But another thing that bothered me was Percy’s negative perception of himself (oh my god do I sound old???). Whenever he took action or glanced at Annabeth, it was always accompanied by comments on how he was a failure and how little faith he had in himself. Was he always this way, or am I exaggerating things with my adult glasses on?
I understand that it serves as comedic relief to some extent, but it breaks my heart every time he talks about himself like that, especially since I hold him in such high regard.
What does it suggest about Percy’s relationship with Annabeth when he sees himself as so inferior to her?
Can we expect some character development in the next book? Will we see a more mature Percy Jackson?
Well, a girl can dream.
Now, you might be wondering, "Why give this book five stars if you have some issues with it?"
Well, here's my answer:
BECAUSE I LOVE PERCY OKAY? I ABSOLUTELY ADORE HIM AND HE IS MY BOYFRIEND (though he’s a minor now… what do I do with that information???)

My review of Twisted Love
2 stars- ⭐️⭐️
I’m actually really proud of myself for finishing this book lol
Alright peopels, let's discuss another overhyped book from BookTok. Unfortunately, It seems that lately lazy writing and boring characters are getting fame while well-crafted, beautifully written books struggle to get attention.
The book is called Twisted love but the only twisted thing about this book is how the author managed to twist the plot to fit her story until it nearly snapped. It was so unrealistic that I was amazed that the editor approved this book.
Alex Volkov, a wealthy man with a cold attitude, has the vice president on speed dial but lives his life as a normal middle-class man. He even sublets his best friend's house because he's that kind of friend. I mean, It’s not like he can live in a fucking mansion or something and take Ava with him?????
He also carries a terrible tragedy with him and remembers every single detail from that night. It has fucked his life so deeply, making it hard for him to commit to anyone or anything. Because of this, he sees himself as a cruel, cold-hearted villain.
But here's the catch! None of this is evident in the book. Sure, he talks tough to anyone who dares to threaten Ava, and he makes serious threats to people, but that's pretty much it.
Also, GET THIS— Alex Volkov has a special taste in ladies!!! He has rules in the bedroom which cannot be broken!!! but Oh Lord, they get broken so fast! Like, the first time he and Ava have sex.
And Ava, sweet innocent Ava. I could have loved you. Truly. You are a real sunshine, a good friend and funny as hell. It’s a shame you were written by an author who does not like to structure a well paced plot.
So many things happened but were resolved so fast it was like drinking warm water on a hot day. Effective but dissatisfying.
Things happened it’s just that we were TOLD they happened. We weren't there to experience it along with the characters.
But with all the pile of shit, the book was funny as hell! I found myself chuckling and laughing out loud many times while reading, which was refreshing and allowed me to connect with the characters better. I appreciated the strong friendship between the girls and how they managed their busy and successful lives.
I’m a bit curious about Jules and Josh… I’m a sucker for Enemies to Lovers so I might continue this series.
Only time will tell….

My review of “The Sword of Kaigen”
Since no one warned me, I’m here for the people! DO NOT READ THIS BOOK UNLESS YOU HAVE A FULL DAY TO YOURSELF! I MEAN IT!
(Spoilers ahead sweetie)
I started reading this book as I usually do, all happy and excited to enter a new world but then, the worst enemy of any reader came to visit- Life! And this isn't the kind of book you can read while doing your everyday activities , oh no sir, because then you'll find yourself crying your eyes out on a bus on your way to work and trust me, it is as embarrassing as it sounds.
I started the book completely blank, aside from the awesome reviews I had read. They said this book was the best they’d ever read and that it was completely underrated. As the pretentious little book reader that I am, I wanted to judge for myself. Frankly, I think "The Sword of Kaigen" is a really well-made and thoroughly thought-out story!
I saw that the author started writing this series when she was twelve, so it's no wonder she knew her characters inside and out. Each character had unique traits that made them well-developed individuals. None of them were perfect, and I often found myself frustrated with their behavior, but their imperfections made them feel more human to me, rather than just words on a page.
The world-building of the story had some issues. I noticed some plot holes and unrealistic settings that bothered me. For example, the story was set in a place that seemed like the Tokugawa Period but included electricity. This seemed contradictory as I expected the setting to be more advanced and modern. Additionally, there was a TV in the characters' home, but none of them had phones or computers, which seemed odd.
Another issue was with the whole Emperor plot. The Matsudas were the reason the Emperor could continue to rule, yet he still treated them poorly even after they were nearly wiped out. I understand that it was a way to show how the emperor didn't care about his people, but I expected at least a bit of political hypocrisy where they would be publicly thanked, ensuring the soldiers' unconditional loyalty to the government by providing them with goods and services Bluh bluh bluh.
In my opinion, the relationships are the reason this book was so good- the children, the mothers, the newly formed family. The redemption arcs and the bond between mother and child that has shattered my heart.
(I am not lying, I literally cried for an entire hour and couldn't function normally the next day).
It was then I realized that M.L. Wang was no ordinary author. She had a way of tugging at your heartstrings and manipulating them at will. I felt like a puppet in her Avatar-like story, and I don't think I'll ever recover. The grief was so intense that it was agonizing for me to continue reading and see how everyone coped after losing such an important character whom I had grown to love within 200 pages when there are characters I can't seem to like after two whole books!
I want to mention that the fight scenes were incredibly well-written and detailed. I typically skip battle scenes in books because I find it hard to imagine them, but M. L. Wang's descriptions were so vivid and thorough that I felt like I was right there fighting alongside the characters. Amazing writing.
I am genuinely curious about the future M. L. Wang envisioned her characters however, it is uncertain when we will get more books from this world she has created.
In the meantime. I will read the rest of the books she has published and will wait patiently for her inspiration to resurrect.
