as much as I was rooting for an Eddie vs his parents confrontation, the more I think about it the more I like the direction the show went. Eddie lashes out when he's in a bad place - like with Buck in the grocery store when he's grieving Shannon, or with Bobby after he leaves the 118. Eddie a couple of episodes ago, before the move, was definitely stressed out and starting to spiral, and there's a way they could have written this arc where that built and built until the pressure burst, and maybe that Eddie would have yelled at Helena. But all of that stress was about being desperate to fix his relationship with Chris, and instead of things getting worse, as soon as Eddie's in the same place as his son their relationship starts to improve. And in this episode Eddie regains his confidence in his abilities as a father and fully bridges that gap that's been growing between him and Chris, and he does what he's been wanting to do so badly this whole time and he brings Chris back home. And he's so happy. So it's like, he fixed it. He got what he needed, his son's coming home (to the fixed-up murder shack for now, back to LA in the near future). And he did it without ever stooping to Helena and Ramon's level and trying to drive a wedge between them and Chris, because he knows Chris loves them and he doesn't want to damage that relationship, even though they've been shutting Eddie out of his son's life for months and dismissing his role as Chris' father. And once he has Chris back, he doesn't have to fight her. He's not going to waste time on anger now, he gets to chose joy. He gets to be a little snarky (didn't want him to lose his seat on the bus lmfaooo eddie ilysm), and he gets that bag packed and he gets out to where his son's waiting for him in the car and he's smiling the whole damn time. good for him.
