Presenting the funniest thing I wrote when I was 12-13 years old:

I gotta explain why Kai and Nya’s dynamic mean a lot to me for a minute. I’m someone who is an eldest sister to just one brother, who is also close in age to me. When it’s just one boy and one girl who are close in age, it’s hard to explain that this kind of dynamic has an interesting effect on how siblings are socialized. The reason I was able to watch Ninjago as a kid, and why he watched mlp as a kid, is because we were less tied down by gendered expectations. We were told to hang out together and be together all the time, so our interests and expectations are a mix of things that are traditionally masculine and feminine.

Obviously no one else has to do this, but I have this personal thing where if I see people portray Nya as having traditionally masculine interests and mannerisms, I really like it when Kai is also portrayed as having an equally amount of traditionally feminine things he does as Nya does masculine (I hope I worded that right). It’s not in a sense of “this thing is for boys, and this thing is for girls,” it’s just something that I think is sort of realistic, from personal experience.

Apparently the reference to Christofern was Nya mentioning in season 2 that Jay ate “the hosts fern”

So now I hc that Jay ate christofern not because he’s fucking dumb or anything (well maybe he kinds is) but because he knew how much Lloyd hated that plant and Jay was like “Dw I gotchu bro” and the second he saw the plant he well. He ate it.
