I hate how often some (typically abled) people will go “well, if you can’t [get a specific support], then what?” when it comes to disabilities. As if it’s a “gotcha” moment. And then act like you’re exaggerating when you answer that question honestly.

Disabled people often die from a lack of support. A lot of disability aids are not a luxury, but a basic need in order to live.

“Well what happens if—” people die. People hurt themselves. People hurt others. Disabled people don’t magically become abled if our needs aren’t met.

If a bedbound quadriplegic is caught in a housefire, and there’s nobody there to save them, they’ll probably die. They won’t magically become able-bodied out of sheer will.

If a nonspeaking/nonverbal autistic is denied access to alternative methods of communication, they’ll suffer in silence. They won’t spontaneously become capable of speech.

Disabled people are disabled all the time. Our disabilities don’t go away just because they’re inconvenient, or if we’re in danger.

after seeing many misconceptions on the ages of the characters and also the general lack of knowledge on relevant key events, I thought I'd create a timeline!

A comprehensive breakdown of important dates in Repo! The Genetic Opera:

1993: Rotti Largo was born (July 14th)

2006: On April 5th, the first ever death for NOS (Neuro-Overstimulation Syndrome) was recorded. GeneCo was then founded later that month in Milan, Italy by Giuseppe Largo and Dr. Michael Whatley who eventually discovered a treatment using an experimental drug called Zydrate and genetic manipulation.

2011: Marni was born (No date)

2016: Nathan was born (No date)

2017: Blind Mag was born (July 5th)

2019: Luigi Largo was born (November 20th)

2024: Pavi Largo was born (September 29th)

2025: By this point, The Genetic Opera, an interactive TV show, was sponsored by GeneCo to promote designer organs and keep the public "status-conscious" in order to continue boosting profits.

2032: Carmela Largo/Amber Sweet was born (August 23rd)

2035: Graverobber was born (No date)

2036: Marni brings Mag to meet Rotti Largo

2039: Shilo Wallace was born (August 27th), Marni Wallace dies, Nathan becomes a repo man

2040: Mag's eye transplants (March 21st)

2048: Blind Mag's Corpus Crusade tour

2053: Tao of Mag, a charity concert event held for blindness

2056: Rotti signs his last will and testament, declaring Shilo as the sole heir of his estate (August 7th). The events of the film take place on November 7th - Nathan, Rotti, and Mag die. Shilo presumably goes missing. Amber takes over GeneCo at a later unspecified date.

Some common misconceptions cleared up by the timeline:

Mag did not receive her eyes at 19, the date listed on her repossession chart says otherwise

Marni and Mag have a relatively large age gap. At the time in which Marni brought Mag to meet Rotti, she was already 25, and Mag was only 19. I personally like to think that Marni was a singing mentor of some sort (since in Chase the Morning we specifically see that Mag has a memory of Marni singing), and perhaps worked with specifically with disabled people and this is how they met!

The age difference between Shilo and Graves is only 4 years!

Mag and Luigi only have a two year age difference. Her being under GeneCo's thumb since she was 19 and Luigi was 17 is probably why they have a relationship.

On that topic, Nathan is only 3 years older than Luigi, there's no way him or Mag could have "baby sat" the Largos as children if they're all approximately the same age (excluding Amber, but considering Nathan had his own daughter to raise and was a repoman and Mag was a world class opera singer I still doubt that would be the case)

This one doesn't have a specific date, but I felt it should be added regardless: Pavi's face disfigurement seemingly happened very recent to events of Repo! We see several times within the film that there are posters and billboards of him with his original face, even in the pictures Rotti has he didn't have the scarring yet. The posters say that GeneCo offering face replacements will be happening in 2057. Pavi was the one in charge of that, and he was stealing faces prior to his scarring (as seen in the pictures). We also know from several sources, including Luigi himself, that Pavi's face happened because of a botched surgery. It's safe to assume this was because of the new face replacement campaign that was being offered, and it was within the last year or two before the events in the film.

Repo head cannons I have since I am having repo brain rot!!

So- I know the fandom is low key gone but I want to revive it so please repo fans interact with me I beg of you!

- Shilo really likes moths, I know she had a lot of butterfly specimens and I like the imagery of the pinned/trapped bugs and her being trapped in her room but because goth I think she’d really like moths and probably really likes the Luna moth or the Death Head moth

- Shilo would make ethical jewelry using bugs like vials with bugs she found in her room or like in the graveyard. I think she’d make some sick ass butterfly wing earrings and if Mag got to be closer to her, I think she would make Mag a pair of butterfly earrings :)

- Amber Sweet has a huge gay fan base that’s it I don’t know what else to tell you but I’m gay and I’m obsessed with her. She may be addicted to the knife BUT I AM ADDICTED TO HER!!!

- Amber as head of genco would definitely like… actually help the community and become kind of an anti hero like she’d not be a hero or the good guy but definitely would not continue repositions because that’s fucked up and I don’t think she wants to become her father

- Graverobber is actual rich and has supportive parents- he just wants to be dark and brooding because theater kid so he just is three raccoons in a trench coat and gothic face makeup. No reason I think it’s just funny :)

- Luigi cries in the shower and that’s the only reason he showers

- Pavi would have an onlyfans account… that’s it idk but tell me he wouldn’t! He’s so obsessed with himself I think he’d make a second account to follow the first account-

- Nathan probably has known the Genco kids since they were little, probably 14-17 years olds and probably has been to so many Genco Christmas parties. Probably has to get a gift every year and panics about it but they just give him a comically large check.

- Shilo would definitely have snuck out to go to a genetic opera to see Mag perform me thinks idk she just would

- Shilo runs a Mag stan account!!!

-Mag is in love with Marni and has always had an unrequited love which is why she sings still, because Marni can’t anymore and it’s the only time she feels connected to Marni, until she sees Shilo

graverobber will frequently feed the stray cats in the alleyway outside the hole-in-the-wall he calls a home. as a result, when he leaves to go graverobbing, he'll be mobbed by cats the moment he steps outside.

amber is extremely aware that a lot of her female fans have a crush on her and will sometimes playfully flirt with them, blowing kisses to them onstage.

luigi can't stand pavi's fake italian accent. pavi knows this and will turn it up to eleven whenever he wants to push luigi's buttons.

mag was the maid of honor at nathan and marni's wedding. it was a bit painful, since mag had feelings towards marni, but she would always be there for her.
