This song is so painfully Blind Mag coded. Even though she didn't lose her head literally, she lost her identity to Rotti and to GeneCo. I don't even think the majority of the fanbase knows her full name.

Hey can any H2G fans tell me their thoughts on Humma Kavula? I just now listened to the radio drama and am reading the books, and he's not in either! I'm so very much a staunch "movies should adhere to the book" type person, so I'm now not happy that they just randomly put a whole giant character in an otherwise great adaptation. But on the other hand, I love Humma as a character, and he really pushes the plot forward and ups the stakes. Plus, I grew up with that version of Hitchhiker's Guide, so there's so much nostalgia. I wanna hear other thoughts.

Rb-ing this on my main because I feel like bragging a bit
Added a vintage Rolling Stone magazine to my collection, I now have two origional Stephen King feature mags from the 80s
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The Twilight Zone was a birthday gift last year, and the Rolling Stone, I found that sucker at an antique mall for $5, and in mint condition.
Got some new boots too, real cowboy boots this time, not like that fake vinyl pair I had. They were my exact size and only $30.

I absolutely adore your Dark Tower OC.. and I agree that the whole Walter being Marten thing isn’t my favorite choice. If you’re ever up to it, I’d damn well adore a whole post about your OC! As a fictive it intrigues me very much.
Holy moly this has been in my inbox for a bit, I'm so very sorry! I had to cut someone off who I had introduced to Dark Tower and Stephen King, so for a while there I wasn't able to touch DT with a ten foot pole without my brain just shutting down. But we are back!
I'm in the process of rewriting a large portion of the lore for these OCs for that exact reason, so I apologize if anything here is patchy or vague and full of plot holes.
So firstly there's Olaia, my Eyes of the Dragon OC. (I do consider this to be an unofficial prequel to DT) She was given to Flagg as a "give me your firstborn" type deal (very likely to change, I just haven't had any other ideas yet) and she is set to marry Prince Thomas. That, of course, is just another way for Flagg to manipulate Thomas as he does in the book. She ends up turning on Flagg. I won't say any more in case you haven't read EOTD, I would hate to spoil it for you.
Then there's Torren, who is a reincarnation of Olaia. He was supposed to be Marten and Gabrielle's kid but Walter showed up and basically, in summary, said "wouldn't it be funny if I just... Took him? And threw him at Cort?" (I kinda write this under the assumption that Walter can do damn near anything he wants within some reason, so please correct me if I'm wrong)
Torren grows up the son of Cort, which, as you can imagine, is just GREAT for his mental health. (I'm making Cort similar to how he is in the comic books even though I loathe the comics. Aileen's relationship to Cort here is the same, but I decided to scrap the whole caricature of feminism thing she had going because it really felt shoehorned and poorly rounded. That's a whole other post for another day. Aileen's forced feminism is replaced with commentary on corporal punishment and familial abuse)
Torren does find Marten, though, at a relatively early point in life, so he starts studying magic and the occult and the different religions of all-world. He also learns whatever the Ka-tet will teach him, despite not really wanting to be a gunslinger. He just enjoys hoarding knowledge like the figurative crow he is. (Not super relevant until the 8th book but dude loves birds. He has an encyclopedic knowledge of birds and will talk about them at length if asked).
Through Marten and, eventually, Walter, he learns a good bit about keystone Earth, and kinda just becomes this wandering hippie mage running from his past after taking revenge on his father.
There's a ton I left out about him, like his curse and journey with identity (I've been reading the series since freshman year of highschool when I was very much still a closeted trans person, so I wrote him to give myself the representation I didn't have, and just never had the heart to scrap that subplot even though I don't know how well it would canonically have panned out for him.)
Last but not least there's Olaia (The Stand incarnation, Flagg just re-used the name because he could not be bothered (I could not be bothered to rename her)) she's not super important, she's more of a commentary character. I'm in the process of rewriting most of her story and lore.
I promise you this is all MUCH better and well written in the actual fic, I'm just god awful at summarizing because there's so much depth I try to include. These are characters I've had for four years. Thanks though for listening to this ramble of information! If there's anything you want me to dive deeper into, just let me know and I promise I'll get to it much quicker than I did this ask!

Hey ravers of Tumblr
I've been thinking about getting into flowstar after going to my first rave (IT WAS SO MUCH FUN HOLY SHIT) and I've seen people use crochet flowstars. I crochet, and that's waaauyy more in my budget than an actual one. Do they work the same? Worse? Better? Any pointers?
My background in flow is hoops and silk fans.

so i had this thought while listening to the soundtrack for the millionth time, but... what happens if you manage to kill a repo man while they're on the job?
because we know by the intro cinematic that nathan most likely isn't the only one, and with how many people are getting their organs yoinked, no doubt someone has tried to defend themselves. what happens if, when your time has come, you actually manage to successfully kill the repo man who came after you? do they send another one after you? do you get charged for murder and stay in prison? do you get charged and they carry out the death sentence by way of organ repossession?
my personal headcanon is that if you kill a repo man when your time is up, you become the next repo man and have to take up the mantle, like it's some sort of curse.

Oh holy moly, where to begin! This also depends on if you consider Eyes of the Dragon to be the prequel to the series (which I do).
There's Olaia and Torren, but Torren is a reincarnation of Olaia who has a sort of soul bind to Flagg/Walter. Same dude. (Also I'm operating with the OG versions of the books where Marten and Walter weren't retconned into the same character until WAY later in the books, which I blatantly refuse to acknowledge because no.)
There's also Kej, who is one of the Big Coffin Hunters.
That's just a snippet because I do not want to infodump too much (and plus the DT hyperfixation is taking a backseat in lieu of mothman.)
Extremely urgent, my friends. Tell me about your Dark Tower OCs. Immediately. Or else.

Additionally, both Salem's Lot adaptations are 3 hours long. (Ahem, 1979 and 2004)
everything is longer than god now. one hour and ten minute tv episodes. six hour adaptations of one single YA novel. two and a half hour movies that are half of one musical. I’m sick of it! take me back to the true way: 22-episode seasons of tv where some dudes die and are fine again every 45 minutes for 15 years.

Not looking for discourse, I'm just curious what y'all think bc I'm not too sure
Edit to clarify since some of my rebloggers are confused; I just tagged the taz folken hoping someone else would be equally as nerdy about it as me and actually delve into the myth :3 there's SO much more material than JUST taz, they didn't create Indrid, he's been here since 1966!

Already missing my days as a radio DJ and I haven't even graduated yet T_T
There's just so much I haven't played, so many genres I haven't explored. I hope my tiny little station doesn't die when I leave highschool, I want someone else to take it on and keep it going.

Y'all ever wonder if Clarice were to become Buffalo Bill's victim? Midway through the movie (in my first time watching) I sorta thought she was going to be his next victim. I think it makes so much sense. His last words to her were "what does it feel to be so beautiful?". He thought she was beautiful, and he wanted to be beautiful too.
It'd be very terrifying and curious if she became his captive in the movie/ book (but especially movie). Not sure how it would work, but I love imagining canon divergences like this one.
