“What happened?” Roy wants to look away from Jason’s kaleidoscopic eyes. He wants to drown in them. “Couldn’t say.” He’s lying, and he knows Jason can tell. Jason’s arms come to rest on the counter on either side of Roy, as if to pin him there. It’s ludicrous. As if Jason needed to do more than just look at him. Does Jason realize he’s stepped between Roy’s thighs? The light from the fixture that Jason had picked out and replaced himself feels like a miniature sun beating down on Roy’s head. Jason’s lips part slightly, and Roy chews the inside of his cheek at the feeling of Jason’s warm, rapid breath on his cheek. He’s never wanted to kiss someone so badly in his life. Somewhere down the street, a siren roars. Jason backs up so quickly it’s as if Roy had scorched him. “You need to be more fucking careful,” Jason spits, face red. Roy gives him a slow blink and a crooked grin. “Whatever you say, sweetheart.” He watches with vindictive satisfaction as Jason swallows hard.

Roy, well, Roy likes to kiss. He likes the feeling of soft lips pressed to his. The gentle movements, the way heads tilt to make room for one another. He likes cupping a hand to his partner's cheek, licking into their mouth, breathing their air. He likes carefully biting at their lip, pulling and sucking. Jason glanced over while they waited for the gate to finish swinging open. “That bad?” he asked. “Not here,” Roy said. Not with Lian so close. She was a deep sleeper, but Roy didn’t want to risk it. Didn’t want to talk about it at all. Knew he needed to. She was practically Jason’s kid too, these days. He had a right to know. Roy had a right to know. Why had Dick never told him. He blinked, and they were on the bridge. Jason was holding his hand all of a sudden, squeezing with steady pressure. Roy squeezed back all in a rush, before a heavy inhale had him leaning forward, pressing his forehand to his fists. “Ten minutes,” Jason said, voice tense and unhappy. “Stop breaking traffic laws,” Roy said back.
