A Conversation Between Mates Pt I

Night time, Kat's rest house, sitting on the shore

Kat: You know, it's really unfair how your clothes remain dry despite you soaking in the ocean.

Mav: Perks of being a siren. Other than being devilishly handsome, that is.

Kat: *mutters* and having an incredibly huge ego to boot.

Mav: *raises an eyebrow before smirking* Heard that.

Kat: I knew you would, that's why I said it.

Both remain quiet for a few seconds.

Mav: Why don't you join me? It's not too cold.

Kat: You just want to show off your stay-dry-in-the-water ability. Well, it's just too bad for you that you can't see me wet, huh?

Both: ...... *shocked silence*

Kat: *blush* O///O

Kat: What the heck are you embarrassed for?!

Character Introduction: Main Protagonists

These characters aren’t yet final since most of them still don’t have anything else other than a first name but here they are:

Katalina “Kat” Stevens

- She’s gold-eyed hybrid who has the power to manipulate air and the weather

- She can also time jump and teleport through subspace travel

- She’s also a pack healer and is known to be able to heal and inflict any wounds or diseases

- She’s best friends with Paige and has accepted Asher’s pledge of eternal loyalty and protection (a warrior’s pledge)

Mavis Riel

- He’s a pure-blood siren

- He is the first in thousands of years to be born as a male who can use both the sea’s gifts and the siren song

- Unlike with other sirens, he isn’t confined on the sea alone, he can also live well on land for any amount of time (though he gets homesick)

- He and Paige are cousins (though not by blood)

Asher

- He is one of the original elite lycan warriors who once worked with the very first lycan king

- He has lost his mate 1,300 years ago and has almost gone savage but was held back

- He was found and healed by a young Kat in the forest and since then he has grown attached to her and has sworn his complete allegiance to her

- He has the power to manipulate and utilize any weapon of his choosing

- He can also teleport

- Mason is his distant relative

Paige

- She is a pure-blood witch

- She mainly gains her power through siphoning the magic or the essence off of artifacts which will then become useless, she can store or transfer the magic she was able to obtain

- She mostly deals with creation magic using the materials around her, energies not included

- She is mated to Mason, they’ve been together for the past 150 years

Mason

- He is a lycan-witch hybrid

- He is also the alpha of the strongest pack in North America

- His witch lineage gives him the power of necromancy, he can communicate with the dead and bring them back to life but only for a limited amount of time

- Aside from his witch gifts, he is a lycan in every way

World Introduction: The Hybrids

There are numerous types of hybrids all over the world, this mostly due to several beings finding their mates in the form of other species.

There are not much difference when it comes to the regular hybrids, though they can’t have the attributes from both parents, their genes will automatically change their bodies to match with only one of their parent. [For example, a human and shifter hybrid will either end up as a simple human or a shifter, not both; or a vampire and witch hybrid can only be a vampire or witch alone, not both]

But lycan hybrids are of a different case altogether.

Lycans already have difficulty when it comes to reproducing (either the female won’t get pregnant, or if she does end up pregnant, she’ll go through an extremely sensitive pregnancy which can potentially put her and the child’s life at risk), therefore having children mixed with other species is much harder to accomplish, making lycan hybrids rare in this day and age.

Lycan hybrids are also different in terms of having genes from both parents and being able to utilize them both, making it possible to see a lycan who gets energy by drinking blood, or a lycan that transforms mid-air and have wings sprout from their back.

One can tell the difference in terms of being a hybrid or a pure-blood by looking directly at a lycan’s eye (though that person will be considered stupid and suicidal due to several reasons, one of which is disrespect). A pure-blood and a hybrid both have the same eye color when transforming or using their power but instead of having white sclera, they turn pure black.

Here is the guide to differentiating between what type of hybrid one is faced with:

RED

Beings with red irises and black sclera are lycan-vampire hybrids.

They were previously shunned by society due to the animosity the two beings harbored against each other. They were soon accepted in society and rejoiced after the Vampire king had a lycan for his mate and they lived happily together for thousands of years. The animosity between the two races were also left behind and have since been nonexistent.

Lycan-vampire hybrids can live off of normal food or blood/emotions/essence.

GREEN

Beings with green irises and black sclera are lycan-fae hybrids.

Previously, they were the only lycan hybrids recognized in the world since the first Faerie king had a lycan for his mate.

Lycan-fae hybrids are considerably faster compared to normal fae, almost the same speed as those of the royal family though they cannot surpass the one leading the whole kingdom.

PURPLE

Beings with purple irises and black sclera are lycan-witch hybrids.

There are only a few of them left since they were hunted down before due to the power they possess. They are considered to be the second most powerful lycan hybrid to exist.

SKY BLUE

Beings with sky blue irises and black sclera are lycan-siren hybrids.

Finding one on land can prove to be a hard feat to accomplish. Even though they can be comfortable living in either economies, most of these hybrids tend to choose to live more underwater since it is considerably more quiet and peaceful - or so they say.

SILVER

Beings with silver irises, white sclera and pupils are lycan-angel hybrids. While beings with silver irises and black sclera are lycan-demon hybrids.

They are almost unheard of. Rumors say that there only exists one silver-eyed lycan hybrid.

You can differentiate between the two with angel eyes losing their black pupils in exchange for pure white ones, their irises also glow bright silver, almost turning white when using their powers.

Demon hybrids on the other hand retain the color of their pupils but also obtain black scleras much like with the othr hybrids. Their irises glow stark silver against the pure blackness of their eyes.

GOLD

Beings with gold irises and black sclera are lycan-dragon hybrids.

They have now become a tale of legends. Dragons, who once roamed the earth to protect all of its inhabitants are now slumbering deeply in the various realms and providing protection and the sense of safety to everyone in the planet.

They also once inhabited the earth and proved to be more powerful than those of the elite lycan warriors or even the lycan royals themselves. The only one who surpasses them in strength is the lycan queen.

It was said that the one responsible for the banishment of the gods from earth is the very first lycan-dragon hybrid.

Even when the dragons still existed, the lycan-dragon hybrids are few in numbers, only a handful or so. They are beings whose powers are immeasurable. The last golden eyed hybrid was said to have existed hundreds of years ago and had all the genes of the different races present in their ancestry and running through their veins. Just that alone is enough to attest to the amount of power a gold-eyed hybrid possess.

Just like with the other hybrids, their eyes are of normal, genetically produced eye color and will turn to gold the moment they transform or use any of their power and/or ability.

Here Comes a Thought Pt I

A lycan royalty was pregnant around the time the then lycan queen foresaw her own death.

That royal gave birth to a female lycan the same time the queen was on the verge of death. The moment the queen took her last breath, the royal baby gave off her first cry. Or at least that’s what they made everyone believed. The baby was actually born a little early and let out her first cry a second past the queen took her last breath. They first thought that they could just pass it off as a technicality but failed. The rightful lycan queen have a crown tattoo at the back of her neck, it’s a crown with 7 circles at the top symbolizing the 7 hearts of the the slumbering dragons.

The kid had no such tattoo. This will manifest the moment that first cry happens. Regardless, the other royals decided that the public could not know that the new lycan queen has not yet been found and is not part of royal bloodline, therefore, they decided to raise the royal baby the way the lycan queen was supposed to be raised without actually telling anyone that she isn’t the rightful queen.

Now on the other side of things, another lycan baby is born to pure lycan parents, the mother was of royal lineage but was oblivious to that fact, the father was of lycan parents who both had a mixture of genes from all beings running through their veins.

She let out her first cry the moment the previous queen died. She had a birthmark of a crown with 7 distinct circles on top located at the back of heck. The crown was placed right on top of a crescent moon with a small dragon flying towards it. The only ones who knew of it were her parents, and the witches who were present, her godfather, her godmother who assisted in her birth. The lycan parents asked the witch couple to hide this fact from everyone until they are sure of what should be done.

The witches cast a spell that will hide the mark from everyone else. The spell falters when she loses control of her powers and/or during a sudden transformation.

When the lycan baby opened her eyes, she had gold eyes and not just rings. Her irises were of pure gold, something that has not happened in the past hundreds of years.

World Introduction: The Supernatural Species

For now, all I can think of is calling it the Earth AU. I know, it’s not creative in any sense, but it is what it is. It’s still Earth in every aspect except that supernaturals are also a prominent part of the global population.

Note: There are no aliens so far.

There are several supernatural species that are occupying the earth aside from humans. These species are lycans, vampires, dragons, witches, faeries, sirens, shifters, angels, and demons.

There were three major species that were created with their own greater purposes. These are the lycans, dragons, and gods.

The lycans’ purpose were to lead and provide a just system to the different beings that the Creator was planning to inhabit the worlds with.

The dragons’ purpose were to guard and protect the said inhabitants.

The gods’ purpose were to oversee the way things were and to act as the direct messengers of the Creator.

But, just like with any other fantasy novels written today, one of these three powerful species became too greedy.

The gods were aware that they were not the only beings the Creator have brought to life; that there were other universes and worlds out there that the Creator has made.

They grew greedy and prideful, wanting themselves to prove to everyone in every universe, in every world, that they were the best creation that the Creator ever made. They wanted the power to create life and anything they wanted for themselves, but that was something the Creator could not overlook.

Together, the gods made it possible for the different worlds to come together as one. The earth, which once only had human inhabitants became filled with other beings that came to be known as vampires, faeries, sirens, angels, demons, witches, and shifters.

After this feat, they wanted more. They thought of the endless possibilities of having the lycans and dragons on their side after seeing what they, gods, alone were able to achieve. So, they asked them to join forces with them and overrule the Creator to take over the worlds and make everything possible for their own desires.

But the two beings refused. They remained loyal to the Creator and they were given additional power and gifts of their own, something that further enraged the gods.

A great war commenced when the lycans and dragons refused to join forces with the gods to overthrow the Creator and take over other universes and realities.

The different species of different worlds came together, and alongside the lycans dragons, they were able to banish the gods into the realm of the unknown, a place the Creator himself has deemed nonredeemable, a place where the gods will be in stasis, paralyzed but aware of everything happening around them, a black abyss where no light can ever pierce.

The seven powerful dragons slumbered after the great war, wherein all of the species came together to banish the gods who wreaked havoc in their way of life. The beings were finally at peace. They all worked together to form a better, more stable way of living.

And that’s how it’s been for the past hundreds of thousands of years.

Another Note: The species introductions might not be equal in length since I will be mostly focusing on Lycans. But they may vary depending on the mood of my brain as I’m writing this.

Lycans

They are more powerful than werewolves, in fact, they are known to be the strongest supernatural being in the world, which is why there are not that many of them left, much less the population of the hybrids. Lycans are mostly part of the elite global economy, including the reigning Lycan royalties who are recognized in every kingdom of supernatural beings.

Normal lycans are physically stronger than any other species in the world. The weakest of the bunch can still overpower the strongest werewolf alpha anywhere in the world.

Lycans who are considered to be elite among the elites are the ones who have extra abilities aside from the enhanced physical attributes. For example, the Elite Warriors who have additional gifts such as the gift of sight, teleportation, etc.

And then there are the lycan royalties who have been around for thousands of years. They were the very first creatures made to touch the earth, alongside those who guarded the skies. A lycan queen is chosen once the then-reigning lycan queen dies, a newborn with lycan lineage will let out her first cry the moment the previous lycan queen takes her last breath.

They are fewer in numbers when compared to the other species but they are still the most feared and respected amongst them.

When a lycan transforms and takes on its true form, it remains standing in its hind legs while taking on the form of a very large wolf. Lycans can come in various shapes and sizes but they always come out as extremely attractive beings. When they transform to their lycan forms, they still tower and look tougher over all of the other beings no matter what their human body’s height and size might have been. Their eye color remains the same though they glow when they are in lycan form. Lycans who are part of the royals have gold rins around their pupils and irises, elites have a single ring around their irises. while the elite warriors have gold rings around their pupils.

Lycans are immortal in every sense of the word, though they still die of old age [after living for thousands of years (approx. 10,000 years per lycan)]. The only known ways to kill a lycan is to inject liquid mercury directly into its heart, rip off its head and remove the brain, as well as removing the spine from the body. These are still hard to accomplish since a lycan is too strong, the only ones known to be able to accomplish such feat are other lycans themselves and the elite lycan warriors.

Vampires

Vampires in this world are a separate breed from demons since they are believed to be a mix of both angels and demons. All vampires need to obtain essence from another being in order for them to survive. They are not all dependent on human blood in order to live.

Though not all vampires in this world drink blood, drinking the blood of angels and/or demons are prohibited, since they’re blood is poison to vampires and will kill them off immediately in the sense that the blood that was drunk will tip the balance off and the said vampire will turn into the now more dominant blood in their body (e.g. a vampire who drunk the blood of an angel will lose all vampire abilities and will turn into an angel).

There are the traditional vampires who must drink blood in order to survive. The blood they obtain does not necessarily have to be from a human; it can come from any other species except for angels and demons.

Then there are also those who can live off of emotions. They can obtain emotions from every species except for the lycans, who are immune to vampire empaths. With this, angels and demons are not exempted to the feeding.

There are also vampires who feed off of another being’s essence through touch. They can obtain that being’s energy which can be replenished after the other party sleeps and/or eats.

Vampires do not get burned under the sun but they do grow weaker the longer they stay under it. They have fair skin though not completely white as a sheet, their complexion still stand out. A vampire’s eyes will turn red when utilizing their powers.

Vampires have impenetrable skin but can be burned. The only thing known to be able to pierce through their skin are vampire teeth, shifter teeth (which is only made possible through the venom that the shifters secrete upon biting), and the lycan’s claws and teeth.

They have blood running through their veins which means that blood-drinking vampires mated to another vampire can still survive.

Dragons

Dragons are even fewer in number compared to lycans. They’re number is mostly next to zero. The only remaining dragons in this world are the guardians of each plane which are located in various kingdoms occupied by the different species.

There are dragon hybrids but they are extremely rare since their genes can only be activated once the said hybrid have each and every other supernatural being in its ancestry.

The dragons were also one of the very first species in the world, along with the lycans. They were tasked to protect the other beings by watching over them in the skies. They soon evolved and were able to adapt to various states and terrains, making it possible for one dragon to guard over the different species that soon occupied earth.

Dragons cannot die of old age. The only way to kill a dragon is to take its heart and break it apart. A dragon’s heart is not inside its body, it’s a physical embodiment of what it is and is the most guarded treasure in all of the world. The hearts of the dragons are currently being guarded by the lycans and their locations are unknown to everyone else aside from the reigning lycan queen.

There are only seven living dragons, all of which are slumbering and guarding the kingdom of every specie, all of which are the followring:

Bizitza: The dragon of life who resides at the lycan realm

T’sute: The fire-breathing dragon watching over the demon realm

T’ur: The water dragon sleeping in the middle of the oceanic realm

T’odol: The essence dragon who overlooks the vampire realm

T’baso: The earth dragon guarding the realm of the faes

T’argia: The light dragon that lives in the sky guarding the angels’ realm

T’magia: The dragon of magic that watches over the witches’ realm

The dragons ceased to exist a couple of tens of thousands of years following the great war. They fell in love and the beings they fell in love with became the embodiment of their hearts. Once their love one dies, they too cease to live.

Witches

The witches are the beings who became closest to humans. They mostly had the same lifestyles and ate the same types of food. The main difference between them is that witches live a lot longer than humans, especially the pure-bloods, and they dabble in magic.

There are witches that work with dark magic but that does not necessarily mean that they are evil. Instead, they just get paid more for their service.

A witch’s specialty in magic mostly comes from their family lineage. For example, a witch born from a family of seers will most likely become one themselves.

There are certain cases when a witch decides to go down a different path, but it takes a lot of time and magic in order to achieve such feat. Only a handful of witches was able to successfully alter their fate.

When using their powers, the eyes of pure-blood witches turn purple.

Witches can die just like a human can. It’s completely up to them to learn how to erect protection spell around themselves.

Faeries

Faeries are a group of beings who choose to live in the forests across the globe/

The royal bloodline are those belonging in the species known as Faes. They have high standards, and regard no one other than the lycans and dragons, above themselves. They are a prideful group of people, but they are also known to be hospitable as long as you do not make one of them your enemy.

Faes are incredibly fast beings. They are tall and lithe with the perfect agile bodies.

Other species  include pixies, who are known for their mischief. If a person happens to pass by their side of the forest, they should be prepared for various pranks and tricks along the way.

Nymphs who are embodiment of tree spirits are also abundant in the forests. Unlike the pixies, they help the explorers who happen to pass by their tree. They are a little bit of a flirt though.

There are also banshees who help the spirits of the dead to cross over peacefully without having any more worries. It is customary to have a banshee present during funerals.

Faeries, in general, have long limbs and pale complexion. Despite this, they are still considered to be one of the most beautiful beings in earth. A pure-blood fae’s eyes will turn and glow bright green when using their powers.

Faeries are weak to iron. Shackling them with and iron bracelet and collar for three whole days will more than enough to drain their life force and kill them.

Sirens

Sirens are the beings living in the water. They are also referred to as merfolk in general.

Sirens use their voice and heavenly beauty to lure beings with evil intent into their doom. It does not matter if the person blind or deaf, a single touch of a siren can make anyone fall head over heels for them.

They are peaceful beings who live in the ocean and are responsible for taking care of the underwater economy. All merfolk who have the ability to use the siren’s song (voice, beauty, and touch) are females. The males have incredible strength and speed and are capable of living above ground without the need to return to the ocean as fast as possible.

Sirens are considered to be the most beautiful beings above ground and under water. Some sirens, though extremely rare, are also gifted with the ability to command and manipulate water in any way they want.

Other merfolk include naiads who are water spirits, they take form and shape of a human but with a body made completely out of water, they do have glowing yellow eyes and are often seen playing pranks on travelers and passengers of boats.

Sirens all have the same distinguishing feature of platinum blonde hair, a siren’s hair is also her pride, making sure that their hair stays long and will not be cut from the moment they were born until they die. Male sirens are the only exception to this rule. A siren’s eyes are blue and will grow bright to almost white when using their powers.

Sirens will die if they lose their voice. Destroying their vocal chords or striking them directly at their heart while above water will ensure instant death.

Shifters

This group include all types of land shifters.

There are of course the werewolves which are considered to be the strongest of the shifter kind. Unlike with lycans, they completely take the form of their wolves and stand on four legs. They are huge compared to the regular wolf which makes it easier to tell them apart.

Other canine shifters include foxes.

Aside from wolf shifters, there are also feline shifters, which take the form of panthers, jaguars, leopards, and cheetahs.

There are also bear shifters and other forest animals. They share the forests with the faes. The wolves have close, tight-knit bond with the faes.

A shifter’s eye color remains the same once they shift, they only have a brighter glow.

All shifters are weak to silver. A silver bullet straight to the heart of the brain will kill them instantly, while liquid silver will turn them insane and savage before finally killing them off.

Angels

Angels does not necessarily talk about the ones being talked about in religion. They pertain to species capable of living in the skies.

There are angels, those who have a body made of pure light once they fully transform.

These beings also include any and all who can transform into winged creatures including the aerial shifters who can turn to falcons, eagles, and other types of birds of prey.

Harpies are also included in this group.

All aerial beings or angels have grey almost white glowing eyes when using their powers.

Cutting off the wings of angels will bring instant death. Aside from this, snuffing out their light source at the center of their chest can also be enough to kill them.

Demons

Demons are the creatures of the underworld.

These include incubus, succubi, minotaurs, imps, and various creatures that resides in the underworld.

They are not necessarily evil, just like how angels are not really pure beings who can do no wrong. But when angered, they tend to turn just a little bit evil.

They are considered demons due to their origin.

A demon’s eyes will glow silver when using its power.
