Liu Zhigang seems like the best combination of chill guy and absolute maniac. Like he's insanely powerful and always feels really intense, but also doing what needs to be done for humanity without raising a big fuss?

Also, the idea of him being the Ruler's favourite boi is so good. I'm insanely curious about what kind of things he could have gotten up to in past timelines that made him so popular.

This has kinda inspired an OVR style AU, where the rulers keep giving him power boosts like the constellations give rewards. Like, Sung Jin-Woo is the only one who can level up, but Liu Zhigang keeps randomly getting new abilities and insane dungeon finds that also result in him getting more powerful. By the time Sung Jin-Woo arrives it's kinda an inside joke of the national hunters that there's something about Liu Zhigang that makes him special and if you go on a raid with him you always get the good stuff.

Liu Zhigang was swimming to Japan.

Canon says later that no one would let him leave the country after what happened with Kamish because they didn’t want to lose such a powerful defender. He was only allowed to go to Korea later because Sung Jin-Woo is even stronger so people were like ‘without him as a defender we’re all screwed’ and people still complained about it and he yelled at them about ‘Korea is right next to us you dumbasses if we let Koreans die we’re going to die too.’

When the Japan gatebreak happened it’s mentioned that Liu Zhigang encountered a golem at sea, with the golem at the process of swimming to China. He says ‘fighting it on the water was a pain’ so why didn’t he like, wait for it to get to land? Maybe bait it in the direction of open coast?’

Unless he wasn’t anywhere near land. He and the golem met in the middle of the effing sea while he was trying to sneak over to Japan to help out with the rampaging golems. What do you bet he swam the rest of the way, found out Sung Jin-Woo beat them, and then turned around and swam back and went ‘yeeeah… I was totally fighting a golem just offshore the whole time, it took FOREVER’

No wonder the rulers made him so OP: they’re in his effing fanclub. Whatever he got up to in previous timelines they were like, ‘A++ protecting humans this guy, let’s give him more power next time so he can do more of it.’ And like. kept ratcheting it up until they gave him access to more power than the people who were actually channeling them.

I have like vague thoughts surrounding a pre-mountain thing where Tianlang-jun and Su Xiyan encountering a young Liu Qingge sent off by his teacher to wander around hunting things. He thinks it's training, it's actually that she needs him to pause on beating up the other disciples so they don't get pissed and shank him. There are several encounters and some mistaken identity stuff, but that's all I got. Can't quite figure out how that continues, would love any additions.

Two things.

First, Atsushi would be so devastating as a detective? Most of the Armed Detective Agency is filled with very smart people who will solve your crime, but won't really care about you, or the criminal, as a person. Whereas Atsushi, from this, seems like someone who would show up to solve your crime, do that, but also destroy the fabric of your reality with his insight. Like the kind you find at the end of an Agatha Christie, where solving the crime brings more things to light then you were prepared for. He'd be so ruthless about it as well, it'd be delightful.

Second, everyone of these insights directed at Akutagawa is somehow about Dazai? I'm becoming so fascinated with the way he haunts the narrative as a living person. His impact on those boys. Just wow.

absolutely beautiful. I’m a big fan on how this puts Jinwoo in a Situation. Like the man doesn’t have enough politics. Love it.

The fact that the whole thing about Orochimaru experimenting on children for danzo is all a misunderstanding should be of great relief to Hiruzen. “Growing babies” takes on a whole new meaning when finding out that the snake sannin was actually instead spending his nights rolling in bed with the Nara’s Shadow Deity (which is a whole new can of worms for the village to digest) in some weird BDSM play and not actually becoming a recluse (it was actually because of pregnancy) to follow through on the orders of the shadow leader (which he thought meant Danzo) to acquire unknown undocumented children (Orochimaru hadn’t gotten around to getting the paperwork done for his and the Nara Shadow God biological children due to the whole issue of the divine heritage which was… understandable) to experiment (the misshapen “children” were actually the Nara Diety’s shadow children apparently?).

Instead, Hiruzen faces the greater headache of dealing with the political fallout of his student not actually being a traitor, his student having children outside of wedlock with a god, the village accusing a god’s lover of experimenting and torturing children, the Nara getting a screaming fight with the village and Orochimaru on the clan status of the demigod children, and a god just swanning around the village like a tourist.

(Too bad no one’s realized that Sung Jinwoo isn’t in fact a Nara Shadow Diety or tied in anyway to the Nara, but no one wants to offend a god to ask why he looks more like an Uchiha than Nara.)

yeeessss. I imagine that he infiltrates to find his sister dressed as woman as a member of the harem. It takes like two days for Luo Bingge to clock him, but he doesn't want to make Liu Mingyan to cross with him and, more importantly, it is objectively hilarious to watch the Bai Zhan War God trying to be a harem member.

Mostly this involves Liu Qingge being really bad at not getting into fights with foreign demons who he deems as "getting too friendly" with the other harem members and that only succeeding in attracting their attention for himself. Also, him hearing about all the ridiculous ways that the harem members joined the harem and being incredibly judgemental about having to fuck your way out of a life and death situation.

There is, of course, the obligatory getting to know each other. Where Luo Bingge learns that Liu Qingge hits all the soft parts of him that wanted to believe in the honor of the peak lords and all the demon parts that appreciate a man who can and will fight him. Liu Qingge in this is weirdly self-actualised? Once he figures out that he enjoys being around Luo Bingge he moves pretty quickly into the "how do we make this not treason, or at least how to stop the fighting between my martial siblings and new husband".

Also, they later discover that Liu Qingge and Luo Bingge did have the obligatory going on a quest to save Liu Qingge's life.

This is either before shen quingqiu gets captured or he doesn't for some reason, because for all that Liu Qingge hates him I just don't think he would leave a member of the peaks behind to suffer like that.

Hot take, but if Liu Qingge had survived in the og PIDW, Luo Bingge would 100% have tried to add him to his harem.

I’m enjoying how the majority of ovr Kim Dokja/Yoo Joonghyuk fics have Kim Dokja´s perspective that this is some long emotional journey to being loved , with miscommunication and romcom plot lines and Yoo Joonghyuk’s thought are literally I love and cherish this idiot and one day I’m going to fuck him so good he forgets his own name.
