In the quiet moments, your absence lingers in the depths of my mind like a forgotten song, humming softly at the edges of my thoughts, waiting to be heard again. Your absence was cold, but not cold like the biting wind or the howling winter nights, no.... no cold like a void. Cold like nothingness, like a hole in my heart. Cold like a cub waking up alone, without the comfort and warmth of its mother. I tried to grasp hold of the thin strings holding our bond like an unfortunate soul grasping helplessly at the bolted gates of heaven but to no avail. I know now that there is a place in my soul that will forever be cold.
