Before, I start I'd like to say thank you to everyone who supported this story and thank you for being patient with me. I know I'm extremely slow with updates and I'd kind of abandoned this story. I really missed writing and I decided that instead of leaving this story for dead, that I'd come back and revise it. I know that this story was kind of cliché and I received some messages telling me that it kind of reminded you of Twilight. That is what I really didn't want to happen. When I went back and reread it, I realized that it really was too much like Twilight. So, I'm rewriting and I hope those of you who have been reading will continue to when I upload the revised edition. Thank you so much for your continued support!

Three friends hailing from New Orleans, one a college student who's been corrupted due to her need to pay off college loans, the other a latin firecracker who's busy trying to make ends meet for herself and her son and lastly, a crazed rebel who seeks nothing but money, fame and power. The three degenerate beauty queens began with a bank robbing but now, using their beauty and manipulation skills, they've gotten themselves down to Miami in the center of rap musicians, strip clubs and easy money. How far will these three women go for their crazed obsession? Only time will tell.

Chapter Five

Bria's POV

Fifth period seemed to drag on for hours. I bounce my leg and tap my pencil on my desk anxiously. I was more than excited for lunch. I couldn’t wait to sit with Chris and his family in the library, but at the same time, I was scared.

I still couldn’t get over the look Chris had given me and Shane in the parking lot earlier today. What was that all about? And what did Chris mean when he said he’d hate for me to get hurt? The bell rang to signal that it was time for lunch.

I got up, quickly shoving pencils and my binder into my backpack. Something told me to slow down. I didn’t want to get to the library before them. That would make me look too anxious and lame. So I took my time walking down the hall.

Shane spots me walking alone and jogs over to me with that goofy smile he always wears.

“Hey, Bria.” He says.

“Hi.” I reply.

“You wanna come and eat with me and my friends today in the cafeteria? They’re cool, I swear.” He says enthusiastically.

“No, I’m just gonna sit in the library.” I say, trying to walk away before he can press it any further.

He catches up to me. “Well, I’ll come with you. I know it’s gotta be lonely sitting in there all by yourself.”

I hate to turn him down a second time, but Chris invited me to his table today. Plus, Shane and Chris obviously have history. Bringing him with me would only cause drama.

“No, I’m fine. I like being alone. Go eat lunch with your friends.” I say.

He looks hurt for a second, but quickly recovers, flashing me another goofy smile. “Okay..” He says. “I’ll see you later.”

He runs to catch up with his friends. I hate to have done that to him. He’s a really nice guy and the closest thing to a friend I’ve got here despite what Chris said about him earlier.

I start off towards the library again. When I get there, they are already seated. I swallow hard, wiping the palms of my hands on my jeans in case of sweat. I take a deep breath and walk over to their table. They appear to be in a heated discussion. I take a seat next to Chris. The table goes quiet. Here’s to hoping they weren’t talking about me.

Chris clears his throat and motions towards his siblings. “Bria, this is Violet and Ian, my brother and sister.”

“Hi..” I say shyly, tucking my hair behind my ears.  Ian nods at me and Violet flashes me a fake smile.

“I like your shirt.” She offers.

I look down at the shirt I’m wearing. I’ve had it since 8th grade. “Oh, this old thing?”

“Yeah.”  She says, looking down at her nails. “It’s cute...” Something tells me she doesn’t really believe that.

“Thanks..” I say anyway.

I’m blushing profusely now.

“So, where are you from?” Chris asks me.  It’s now that I’m realizing that we don’t know anything about each other.

I shift nervously in my seat and look down at my hands. “Well..I was born here, but my mom moved to California with me when I was a baby. I used to spend my summers here when I was little.”

He chuckles. “California, hm? What made you move back to Brinnon? You like the rain?”

I shake my head, chuckling a little myself. “Not exactly. My mom got a job offer in Europe and I told her I’d move in with my dad so she could take it.”

He places his hand over mine and squeezes it. “That’s extremely selfless. Your mother must be really proud of you.”

I can feel my face heating up; I must be red as a tomato by now. Violet and Ian are in their own little world, hugged up, talking comfortably with each other. I don’t like to judge people, but I find that extremely weird.

Chris’s table isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and as much as I’d like to get to know him, his siblings were making me uncomfortable. On top of that, I’m self-conscious and sitting at a table with three inhumanly beautiful people is like a blow to my self-esteem.

“Uhh..I just remembered. I had to talk to my 2nd period teacher about an assignment.” I said, making up a lame excuse to leave.

He nodded his head, smiling genuinely at me. “Ahh, well, that sucks. Just come sit with us tomorrow.”

“Yeah..uh..okay, I will.” I said, starting towards the exit.

  Shane’s POV

I decided to leave lunch early and check on Bria. She is always sitting by herself. I would be lying if I said I didn’t worry about her. She’s a really nice girl. She’s so quiet and mousy, and awkward..and cute.  I wish she would open up to me a bit. I’d really like to get to know her better.

I’m at the library door, but that’s where I stop. As I’m looking into the glass door, I spot Bria sitting at a table with Chris, Ian, and Violet.

“Hmph. So that’s why she didn’t want me to come with her..” I mutter to myself.

 I turn to go back in the direction of the cafeteria, trying to push the feelings of jealousy and anger back. I clench my fists and attempt to regulate my breathing. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten this pissed off about anything; usually I’m in control of my anger. It’s my own fault though. I should have warned Bria about them..
