It fails every day to fulfill the social contract, which is essentially the rubric by which capitalism and capitalist democracies would judge themselves.

The American people overwhelmingly oppose Trump’s plan. In fact, a recent poll found that only 14% of voters support cutting social services to fund an extension of Trump’s tax cuts. That’s why Republicans passed the bill early in the morning when no one was watching — because they know how wildly unpopular it is. This bill is NOT a done deal. It still needs to pass the Senate. It's important that we get in touch with our senators and tell them to vote NO on this bill. Keep calling. (202) 224-3121

"We are watching maybe the biggest example of why capitalism doesn't work and why these billionaires are actually often the least deserving people you know."

Reminder for Americans that Feb 28th is a 24-hour nationwide economic blackout! This blackout is to protest major corporations rolling back DEI initiatives. Do not spend money on the 28th from midnight to midnight. If you have to spend money then buy from small local businesses. I’ve heard about this boycott through several sources so I’m hoping it’ll be big (but it’ll be bigger if you tell people about it)!

Congress came very close on Wednesday to putting billionaire Elon Musk in the hot seat over his ongoing attempts to effectively take control of the U.S. government by infiltrating every federal agency. But the effort failed in a 19-20 decision.
The U.S. House Oversight and Government Reform Committee held a vote to subpoena Musk, put forward by ranking member Rep. Gerry Connolly, a Democrat from Virginia. Republican Rep. James Comer, the chairman of the committee and longtime ally of President Donald Trump, tried various tactics to hamper the motion, including by insisting it wasn’t debatable.
“Mr. Chairman, why don’t we want to debate Elon Musk coming in and talking to us about his work and how he has enriched himself for $64 billion?” one Democrat asked.

Elon Musk, an unelected billionaire who gained his wealth and power through apartheid and (more recently) lining Trump’s pockets during the 2024 presidential campaign, is essentially raiding the Treasury Department as we speak. Instead of having arm chair arguments over whether Musk was “pointing” at the inauguration, let’s see reality for what it is... our democracy is crumbling. It’s time to stand up and protest! Go to your state capital at noon (2/5/25) and join this historic protest to fight fascism!

I was on Xiaohongshu and a user asked if it was true that Americans sell their blood and all the Americans in the comments were saying “oh yeah it’s true people here sell plasma all the time to make ends meet” and one person said “sometimes you don’t get paid with cash but with Amazon gift cards” and I think that’s when it hit me. We sell our bodies for vouchers for the company town general store.
