I included part of the scene where he's explaining himself to Poppy despite most people normally seeing it as his worst moment

as I think this specific part still portrays him as a victim as literally what he's saying is that if he had another choice he wouldn't be doing this

but his captor who he's been at the mercy of for Hours is literally standing over him sharpening knives so like how is he the bad guy here in the writers minds?
