Capulian fanon concept:

Everyone has become tired of Julian's innuendos, he doesn't seem to have a filter and he's not sure how to dial it down for everyone else's sake.

So the captain decides it is just a question of mental resilience and self-control, and decides to put Julian through resilience training. Typical military stuff, getting up early, intense exercise, outdoor skills etc. Cap is in his element but Julian is struggling.

One night, while sleeping in the cold outdoors for the training, Julian snaps and declares defeat, Cap looks shocked that his training didn't work, explaining that it should be easy. He heavily implies that this is a strategy that has worked for him for years and that it's "perfectly normal" to repress one's feelings entirely.

Julian argues that none of this is "normal". They get talking and Julian reveals his desires aren't even all dirty, most of all he just longs for closeness. He realises that might explain why he kept sleeping with others, hoping he could get that closeness he wanted. He explains he would go insane if he had to repress that, and the captain wonders whether repressing his own needs has impacted his mental health at all. He realises his shame at his own sexuality has pushed him to reject all intimacy, even platonic.

They both conclude that they need a healthier relationship with closeness and intimacy. That Julian needs to dial things down, while Cap ought to dial it up.

Cap insists Julian try to complete the training instead of giving up, but in the spirit of compromise and closeness, instead of trying to grin and bear the cold night separately, they could huddle (cuddle) together to stay warm. Allowing them both to experience the healthy intimacy they both need and long for :)

I do think Capulian could work it out actually. I mean obviously not in canon because none of the ghosts ships have any chance of going canon but in a fanon way, the dynamic of two repressed assholes who annoy everyone and are annoyed by everyone including each other haha unless... no🙄 unless😳😳😳 is so fun

Julian: Yes, later. *half-curtsies back* Now, Captain, if you just let me finish!

The Captain: *sighs* Go ahead?

Julian: Right… you’re not going to slow down, are you? Fine! What I was trying to get across is - that is to say, I get it. I also don’t like to talk-

The Captain: *scoffs* Hah!

Julian: *walks in front of Cap and stops him in his tracks* -about feelings. I also don’t like to talk about feelings.

The Captain: Hmph.

Julian: But I think that it is necessary, in this particular situation. Believe me, if there is one person who prefers to kiss and not tell, it is your favourite local MP. *points both his thumbs at himself*

The Captain: Right.

Julian: But this is not a one-off bit of rumpy-pumpy in a hotel room, this is eternity. Or, it might be. You can try to run away all you want, but we’re kind of stuck with each other, so…

The Captain: I am not running away!

Alison: *opens her window* GO!

The Captain: For King And Country!

Julian: Aaaaaand he’s gone.

Fanny: *walking back into the house past Julian* He’s running faster than usual. Might break his own record.
