#WIPSNIPPET: What Happens in Vegas (an iZombie Blaine x OC AU)

“Did we ever dance—before? In Seattle?”

The wash of the words—barely louder than his breath—hits her cheek before their meaning hits her sense-fogged brain. So, for a few seconds, she stays where she is, warmly pressed against his front, her hand flat over his racing heart, his palm over hers. Immersed in how he feels, how he smells, how they’re moving together…

And then, his question pierces the fog.

Kitty stiffens and tries to pull back, but Blaine curls his fingers over hers on his chest. His grip is firm, but not overly so. His chin dips, and he whispers close to her ear, moving so that the words slide down her jawline, her collarbone, into the wide neckline of her dress. “I have all these fuzzy but delicious memories, kitten."

The nickname raises goosebumps along her arms.

"Really, really nice ones. Ones where we’re skin to skin, and you’re warm, and wet, and begging me to—”

“Enough,” Kitty says lowly, stepping back, flushed and flustered. He still holds her hand, her arm now stretched between them. His heartbeat is racehorse-fast beneath her palm. They’re surrounded by a crush of other dancing couples, and Kitty suddenly wants to bolt like an undead Cinderella, push through the crowd and just disappear.

He remembers? But Ravi said…

Blaine’s fingers move, grip like a vise around Kitty’s wrist. He matches her tone, voice deceptively quiet even though his eyes are now full of blue fire. “No. Not enough. Tell me why you spent the last two years letting me think you were dead.”

i will never forgive the internet for making the phrase “fiction affects reality” inherently suspicious because like fiction absolutely does affect reality in the sense that the themes and messages of media can challenge or affirm people’s biases, it can impact one’s ideology, so much of fiction is commentary on real social issues

and yet! everyone who uses the phrase fiction affects reality is using it as a pro-censorship argument and i simply do not fuck with that
