This may be a silly question, but who would you say is your favourite Jeff and why?

this is a hard question because they’re all my babies that i love for different reasons. i’d say maybe nine just because he was so unique for his time and a lot of people love him which makes me happy

how do you feel about ethel cain? and do you have any media that is like a/the main source(s) of inspiration for you?

i’ve been asked the ethel question before and honestly i do not like her music very much personally but i do think her and her artistry are really cool. i’ve followed her on tumblr for years and didn’t even know she made music until like 2 years ago lol she was always just mothercain to me.

second question is hard because my main inspiration is actually my real experienced life in rural new jersey but aside from that, rob zombie movies, specifically the firefly trilogy, but 31 and lords of salem too. i’ve always really liked the dirty nasty eclectic feel of them. similarly, the texas chainsaw massacre franchise, but mainly just 1974 and 1986.

i also take a lot of inspiration from music, not really anything specifically, it all depends from character to character. a lot of characters backgrounds can come very literally from different songs, and listening to music is often what inspires different backstories, personalities, and relationships. if i need to think something up, i’ll shuffle a few songs and eventually one will spark something.

How do you pronounce carnalhaus and where did it come from?

more or less you just say it as carnal-house

i’ve talked about this a few times before but it comes from the word charnel house, which is a vault where bones or corpses are piled up.

charnel -> comes from “carnal”

house -> comes from “haus”

charnel house = carnalhaus

my username on tiktok is carnalis, which is where the word carnal comes from. additionally my username in other places is usually girlviscus which is kind of self explanatory, girl + “an internal organ of the body”. girl organ idk

oh something about val ive discussed other places but not really here: he’s intersex, and specifically has something called androgen insensitivity syndrome. genetically he’s considered male (xy), but physically has traits more considered to be female. basically his body resists androgens partially (which normally would develop a masculine appearance).

some physical traits he has related to this are his tall skinny stature, a small amount of breast tissue, ambiguous genitalia with traits of both organs, basically no body hair, narrow hips, lean muscles, etc.

additionally, it’s common to have heart issues along with this condition, which is coincidentally what val has, and what partially influences his whole vampire thing.

thats very helpful, thank you so much! i agree that its important to get over the hurdle of wanting interaction/interest from strangers, and thats definitely what im struggling with rn. its reassuring to hear that i shouldnt stress about this kinda stuff and just let it come organically though, im hoping its something ill get more comfortable with soon :) ty again!

i’m glad i could help !!!! i think unfortunately with interaction and interest it can just kind of come by chance sometimes. some people get a lot of interest really fast, and sometimes it takes a while to build a following. that’s just how internet algorithms work and it sucks !!!

i think of posting as kind of my personal archive rather than something on display for someone else. everything is sorta posted for my own reference, except for things people specifically ask for. i have a lot of stuff i’ve never even publicly posted !! again i recommend focusing more on friends when it comes to ocs, for me it helps me feel less of a need to look to other people for interest :3 and if need be u can always talk to me !!

how did you start posting about your characters? im too afraid to start cus I have no clue how 😭

truthfully i really started posting on amino when i was like 12. for some reason people really digged them there, so when i came here a couple years later when i was 14 i just started posting whatever i wanted LOL. i didn’t really worry at all about interactions because i cared more about just having my stuff out there rather than getting attention from it.

i feel like that’s something a lot of artists need to get over if that makes sense. when you find close people who you can share things with and bounce ideas off of then you don’t care about whether strangers are giving you attention from it or not. i think that’s a big reason why i feel like i can post so freely on the internet.

BUT onto more stuff about your actual question lol, i guess it differs on what platform you’re posting on. on tumblr, im pretty erratic with everything. i just post art, or post lore explanations or silly things, but i make sure to keep it with the same tags for the most part so its relatively easy for other people to navigate.

for tiktok what i found really helpful was making those infographic posts i reposted on here. people have erm short attention spans over there sometimes so i always try and lay things out as simple as possible in an easy to read format.

for twitter it kinda depends, i just find myself posting notes app screenshots lol

as for people actually seeing your stuff it depends on what kind of ocs they are (if they belong to a fandom or not or whatever) and stuff like that, but i suggest you don’t stress about it too much. i for one barely use tags on any platform so i kinda just let people find things by chance and they’ll stick around if they’re interested
