Face to Face | Promotional t-shirt
Using the two screens from my third poster and by masking off different areas I adapted this design to work on a t-shirt, I also had to use a different binder with the acrylic paint suitable for printing onto fabric, and heat set my final print using an iron. The process used to create this t-shirt meant that it could be mass produced and handed out at events or sold through high street clothing brands to spread the campaign message.

Face to Face | Logo Stamp
Two laser cut stamps featuring the Face to Face logo design in reverse, these stamps can be layered using two colours or used individually. I will provide blank circular stickers and two inkpads in the my EoYS display for the public to stamp their own logo stickers and interact with the space.

Face to Face | Screen Cover
I first tried to create a frosted glass screen protector which would obscure the phone’s screen from sight, however the pressure of the sand blaster cracked the tempered glass and dislodged the laser cut paper design I had glued onto it. I decided to explore an alternative idea of using stickers as temporary covers instead (could be applied at night time to avoid distracting notifications), initially I tried printing from college onto blank sticker sheets however the quality wasn't great and the stickers left a residue when I trialled them. I sent my design off online to be printed onto removable stickers, these were of a higher standard than the previous batch and didn't leave a residue, they will be available to take away from my EoYS space.

Face to Face | First Screen-printed Poster
I loved the hands on process (left) of printing my designs using screens and felt this method of working really tied in with the notion of getting out of the digital world and doing things hands on/face to face rather than printing through the computer. I experimented with a couple of different background papers and merging inks together, but found that ultimately I wanted to show the prints on a plain white background as I felt this showcased the design by putting all focus on the print and making the colours their most vivid. These colours are a lot more contrasting and brighter in reality, this scan makes the image look quite flat but this is not the case. This is the first of three posters that will form the main exhibit of my EoYS space.

Face to Face | Poster Design Ideas
I narrowed down my ideas to the 6 strongest and consulted my peers as to which they thought had the most potential. They liked the ‘concept of the [digital] prison’ design and thought the ‘untie yourself one [was] clever’. As well as these two, the ‘glued to your phone?’ design was also popular for its ‘powerful imagery’ conveying a clear message to its audience. Originally I was planning on producing one poster, however as these 3 designs all successfully communicated my message I decided to develop a series of screen prints instead, additionally this will create a more interesting End of Year Show space.

London | The Design Museum | Hope to Nope: graphics and politics 2008-2018
This exhibition was an eye opener as to how graphic design has been used in the past decade as a political tool and the impact it can have on its audience, although I haven’t drawn any direct inspiration for my poster design I did enjoy viewing and learning about this collection of work. The exhibition doesn’t particularly have one focal point, rather it is a wide range of material/messages packed into three rooms. Within these rooms the subject of social media is also explored as a political tool used to appeal to huge numbers of people: tumblr, facebook, twitter, Instagram … Political campaign materials in non-English speaking countries are frequently written in English now so that photographs (of protests etc) represent their views to people across the globe. Campaigns also often adopt a slogan which is translated to a hashtag and becomes popular rapidly, gaining recognition on a global scale.
