Seven ☾

When the meeting concludes and the Yotsuba executives begin leaving the boardroom, the atmosphere is brittle. With some satisfaction, Kyosuke notes that Hatori is perspiring more than usual. Disgusting, he thinks, trying not to smirk. Now he matches Shimura.

The elevator ride from the nineteenth floor to the lobby stretches on in an uncomfortable silence that Kyosuke drinks in like a demigod sipping ambrosia. The grey specter of death looms overhead waiting to snatch one of their numbers into its jaws — waiting for its master to write a name. Tension has been high ever since that idiot Matsui snuck into their meeting and Kyosuke is all too eager to relish every single moment that control is snug within his grasp.

“You don’t really think… Kira would seriously kill one of us, do you?” Hatori laughs unconvincingly. His bravado disintegrates by the second as the numbers flash down. 18…17… 16,,.

Unable to resist, Kyosuke replies with a cruel nonchalance. “You’re head of marketing, aren’t you? What do you think about the optics of the scene you caused, Hatori?”

Hatori pales. “B-but I said I wasn’t - I wouldn’t-“

“If I were Kira,” Namikawa interjects, “I’d kill you for insisting on talking about this outside the boardroom.” Both Hatori and Kyosuke stare, but Namikawa’s eyes remain focused on the closed doors.

13… 12…11…

Incensed and humiliated into silence, Kyosuke grits his teeth. Was Namikawa trying to advise him to keep his mouth shut? Did Namikawa know? A bead of cold sweat drips down the back of his neck.

“If you were Kira…” Kyosuke laughs, trying desperately not to sound as pathetic as Hatori did moments earlier. “Is that a confession?”

7…6…5…

“Hardly.” Namikawa’s bored tone doesn’t falter. “But it hardly takes a genius to work out what’s in Kira’s best interests.”

Hatori whimpers from between them. “Let’s talk about something else, ok?”

Cursing internally, Kyosuke forces yet another laugh. “Fine. We’re almost at the ground floor anyway.” And in just a few more minutes, Hatori would be meeting a sticky end. Perhaps the others would too, once this L situation reached a proper resolution..

Why don't you like lawlight? (I'm not asking because I'm trying to disagree, I'm just genuinely interested in your point of view)

In a nutshell, I’ve been in the DN fandom for ten years and Lawlight has just been so done that I have no interest in it at all. That’s basically it, haha. 

Separate from the actual ship itself, I guess I’m also just not a big fan of the discourse that sometimes goes along with the Lawlight fandom, in particular when it comes to fandom discussions about “canon Lawlight.”  I think the number of times that I’ve had to point out that abusive behaviors are abusive not romantic has left a sour taste in my mouth, lmao. 

Mind you, ultimately I don’t really care if people ship abusive relationships b/c they’re... y’know fiction? It’s just that I find the unwillingness (by some, not all) to acknowledge the canon abuse pretty ???

Author: Cas / @casuistor For: Lev / @masahikokida  Prompt: No Kira AU Light undercover interacts with Teru Comments: Hrm I was a fool, and somehow missed the “No-Kira” part of this AU until way too late into writing this, but I hope the fact that neither of them are Kira even though Kira exists technically ended up ok, orz. Enjoy!

As Light takes his seat amongst the crowd present at the live broadcasting of Kira’s Kingdom, he tries to keep his expression perfectly neutral. Despite his protests that Kira surely would not be so foolish as to make a personal appearance at Sakura TV, he had to admit he didn’t exactly have a better plan than keeping a close eye on Demegawa and his inner circle. With Japan officially declaring its open support for Kira several years ago, the original Taskforce the NPA put together had been forced to disband, leaving only a spattering of of individuals still committed to bringing a beloved mass murderer to justice. As the youngest member of what was left of the task force, Light was deemed the least likely to arouse suspicion in a crowd of overexcitable zealots; he’d tried not to be offended by this assessment.

To be as diplomatic as possible, Kira supporters were an interesting bunch. After a full month of trying to get closer to Demegawa’s inner circle , Light feels he’s more than earned the right to judge. After all, most of the people gathered appeared only to be here for the pomp and circumstance. Demegawa arrives on set dressed in white robes, brandishing a gaudy baton in his right hand. That’s new. Light observes, uncertain of whether he’s amused or dead on the inside. If he didn’t know any better, he’d have guessed it was a moon scepter from a popular magical girl show spray painted over in gold. Beside him, a familiar face scowls with poorly veiled contempt.

 “This is an insult to Kira,” the prosecutor mutters under his breath. 

“You don’t approve of Demegawa-san’s…ah… enthusiasm.”

“No.” His tone is curt and glacial. Light can only suppress a desire to laugh as he joins in the others more raucous applause with two polite, sarcastic claps of his own. Teru’s hands remain defiantly folded on his lap.

“Unfortunately, one of the more logical explanations for Demegawa-san’s continued existence is that Kira would disagree with you.”

Teru adjusts his glasses, his lips still curved downwards in displeasure. “Disagrees with us, you mean. Surely you don’t approve of this farce yourself, Asahi-san.”

I HONESTLY DONT KNOW! I like a lot of different food and I’m the sort of person who’d get sick of eating anything if I had to eat it every day, even if I technically like the food so hrm….  I guess there’s something to be said about the simplicity of just having a bowl of rice, kimchi and seaweed. But on the other hand, heart attack bombs like mac and cheese are also fantastic. As are fish tacos and literally every single thai noodle dish ever, so and I haven’t even gotten to stuff like potato korokke or red bean pastries…. I can’t pick, lmao 

Rem: If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

ALSO HARD. Teleportation would be incredibly nifty so I’m immediately drawn to that, but I also like the idea of being able to touch objects and absorb all the information about them instantly. So if I wanted to read a book? Bam, one touch and done. Either one of those powers would be neato -w-

This honestly has changed so much over the years that I’m not quite sure what it is exactly anymore, soblol. I think I would like to be doing research on cognitive neurosci and its applications, but I would also be >w< about doing research on neurological and psychiatric disorders while practiciing clinical medicine on the side! tl;dr, the dream job entails learning new things about brains and applying said knowledge to better help people in need in some capacity :)
