i'm not saying people shouldn't be reading more books, but i do think it's funny how many people thinking "reading comprehension" is just about how good you are at reading books and not like. criticial thinking skills.

Love learning history of literally any kind cause it reminds me humans never change (negative).
Wars
Fashion trends
Killing ourselves for beauty
Putting idiots in charge with unchecked power
Women being forced back into the home despite proving they were equal to men
Racism
Slavery
Poverty
Great depression
LGBT+ history
Medicine
Mental health
Tech
"Natural" disasters
Radioactive waste
Strikes and Unions
And so on
We literally never learn and never do better.
And when we do "learn" or "do better" we backtrack immediately.
It's always 1 step forward and 10 steps back with us.

I have some news for members of the united states armed forces who feel like they are pawns in a political game and their assignments being unnecessary.

does anyone have that quote that goes something like 'white germans under the nazis lived just fine as long as they were loyal to the state, gave their children to the army, and paid their taxes, and in this sense many americans would be comfortable living under fascism' trying to find who said it but google is giving me jack shit

It's important to remember that Luigi Mangione is being framed for murder. The "evidence" they have on him is absolute clown shoes absurd.
They're trying to win this by swaying public opinion. That's why they're doing movie deals about it and staging ridiculous photo ops.
They're gonna try to give this kid the death penalty to cover up for their own gross incompetence and in the hopes that they scare the working class out of trying to fight back.
Please don't help them do this by using his name as a synonym for political assassinations. Please do not perpetuate the idea that he's guilty.

THE ENTIRE WEST IS BEING PUT UP FOR SALE AND I AM BEGGING YOU TO CALL YOUR SENATORS
Tumblr media
Trump’s budget bill has many, many things in it, but buried amongst it is the MILLIONS OF ACRES OF PUBLIC LAND FOR SALE.
This is the entirety of the Arizona state forests, the entire Cascades mountain range. Swathes of pristine desert around the national parks in Utah. On the doorstep of Jackson Hole.
THIS BILL IS BIG, BUT IT CAN BE AMENDED AND ABSOLUTELY MUST NOT PASS AS IS please.
If you have ever enjoyed the wilderness, we stand to lose it all forever.
CALLING your senators - NOT JUST IN THE WEST. ALL SENATORS, is CRUCIAL.
Outdoor alliance has a great resource for reaching out.
I don’t have a huge following but please, everywhere I have ever loved, the forests I grew up playing in, the land I got married on, is all at risk and I am begging.

You know what I got more to say about AI.
It kind of ties into the last thing I reposted so consider this an add-on.
But what do you mean that people like me have had to work our asses off for fucking years and have put in countless years of study both formal and informal and we still have to fight for positions that we deserve? We still have to fight to be heard. We still have to fight to get people to fucking listen despite the fact that we have multiple studies under our belts and degrees and certificates.
We have to spend countless hours in our jobs to help the people that we put in so much time to help and to continue to educate ourselves even outside of work hours. We have to spend countless sleepless nights to really understand the material in school so that we can do the best we can in our field of choice, or we have sleepless nights because the actual job part is extremely demanding and we are NOT protected from unpaid overtime by workers rights.
And despite all this people won't listen to us and still don't take us seriously and we're still left in the dust, yet the second someone finds out about chat GPT they don't have to worry about any of that. Oh no they just get a quick little paper in a second, or maybe five little papers in 5 seconds, one for each class, they don't have to retain a God damn thing they just have to send it in and get their good grade.
They don't have to prove themselves in their jobs because most of these jobs and managers don't actually care about if you know what you're doing they only care about if you look like you're being productive, so people who are cheating their way through school without retaining any form of important knowledge, and people who aren't doing their jobs and are letting robots do it for them are the ones who are climbing the ladder and succeeding while those of us who have worked our asses off are being trampled on again.
People using AI to get ahead are being listened to more because they just look smarter because it looks like they're doing more because they're using fucking ai, but those of us who have actually worked to hold on to any knowledge still have to face doubts from people and still have people coming in and telling us we don't know what we're talking about.
It's a HUGE disservice to both us and those who rely on us to know how to do our jobs.
I am literally going insane. I learn more and more every single day that actual applied knowledge means nothing to people.

It's already gotten into the workforce too. I worked with two people who, instead of actually sitting down and talking with the kids or at least watching them like we're supposed to until they're comfortable coming to us directly, they would just use chat GPT to falsify medical notes and they were the ones who got praise the most from management because it didn't matter that the notes were fake and inaccurate it just mattered that they were in. I also knew a girl who was going to school for social work and she was legit using ChatGPT for her PSYCHOLOGY classes. This girl literally didn't even know the definition of "people pleaser" (no I'm not exaggerating).
Stop using AI, it's harmful for the planet and kills your braincells.
And what kills me even more is that even though managers and teachers claim that they won't tolerate it, I have seen far too many people get away with using Ai and I've seen them get away with using it to climb the ladder so it's a very very big problem right now that people who are putting in no work whatsoever are getting into enviable positions while those who actually try but just aren't perfect because they aren't using AI are getting left in the dust.
People who have actually retained the knowledge and can apply it and have worked their asses off are getting overlooked in favor of those who use Ai and just get the job done quickly.
That's terrifying.
"Why is it a problem if students use AI to get through college"
Because if you demonstrate to me that you're willing to set aside concern for truth, evidence, and verifying things with your own eyes whenever it happens to be inconvenient for you, I have a solemn responsibility to make sure you don't get into medical school.

don’t forget that it’s your life. it’s not school’s life, it’s not work’s life, it’s not your family or your partner’s life—it’s perpetually your life, for better or worse. what do you want from this life? forget happy, what motivates you to live? why are you here?
