Unicorns don’t have to be only based on horses. Lots of other creatures want to be magical too.
(I’m reluctantly uploading some art after ignoring Tumblr for months because they tagged a bunch of my art as inappropriate and took it down. It wasn’t at all and I’m still kinda pissed about it)

More than three months ago, Alexis Hall and I came up with the idea of a hippo who loves words. It came about after squeeing over the cutest dang video made by Canada about the fictional “house hippo” (and we both still want one). I took the idea of Dashiel Bartholomew Wilder and ran with it.
I post a new Dash word every Thursday. I get words from all sorts of places - some are suggested by my various dictionary apps as their words of the day, some are suggested to me by friends.
Dash is all about following your bliss and doing what makes you happy, even if that means the types of things he likes aren’t necessarily embraced by most hippos. Yes, Dash is my social commentary about a lot of things. I’ve got a book about Dash slated to illustrate this fall and my creative cohort and I are developing a plush for him. His fans have asked for one.
I’m going to start posting every week here. If you’d like to catch up on all things Dash visit his webpage and scroll through his gallery on my website.

If you like pirates, bunnies and characters who are LGBTQIA then check out my current serial story with episodes posting every Sunday.
After John Oliver’s book was a hit revolving around two boy bunnies in love, I drew my own bunnies commenting on how wonderful that was. Mine have been around since 2015. I had them joke that they should tell their own story, but do it as pirates. I thought it was a joke - Skip and Pip fans answered loudly that they really wanted to read that.
Five episodes and 11 pages posted, I project it to be around 35 pages when finished and it will probably become a book. Who knew pirate bunnies would be so popular?
See what you’re missing and catch up on the story here!

I think it’s time to blow the dust off my Tumblr account here and give it another go. It’s been more than a year since I last posted. I found I could only juggle so many social media accounts and Instagram was a good fit for me as it turns out. But it wouldn’t hurt to come back to this and see what happens.
The last few months I’ve been juggling client commissions and Skip and Pip’s first book. I released it into the ether around Valentine’s Day but I had no idea that graphic novels take longer to hit retail spaces than standard novels for some reason. As soon as I see it up all the places it should be selling at, then the bunnies can throw an official party. :D

Last fall, I entered a cover into Josh Lanyon's contest to create what would ultimately be the cover for the new Adrien English story So This is Christmas. I didn't win and that is very much okay. There was a cover that captured the feel of the story better than mine. It's quite lovely and perfect. But Josh asked if we could use what I had produced for a different project. The answer was "of course" but I took a look at what I had put together and I literally had a lightbulb go off over my head. I'm sure anybody in the room with me at the time would have seen it, it glowed so brightly. My offering, which originally had only Adrien English on it, seemed in need of his partner Jake Riordan. It took me well into the novels to like Jake and once that happened I loved him as dearly as Adrien. I have had the pleasure of illustrating Jake six times, but I'd never seen him in a photo version. Josh humored me as Josh does when I suggested it because she is a very nice person. ;) It wasn't nearly as easy as I thought it was going to be. I knew what he looked like in my head of course but finding stock cover models that matched my visual idea gave me a good three hours of searching frustration. You won't find this Jake anywhere because I altered the stock model photo so heavily using Photoshop magic. He won't be everybody's Jake, but he is definitely *mine* in a very selfish sort of way. I've never been so happy to lose a contest. It allowed me to go flex my photo skills and create a character that is so very near and dear to my heart.

Skip and Pip “Tails of Winter” #1 and #2. These are posting through the month of January and early February. All things Skip and Pip can be found on their website.
I was heavily influenced by Yuri!!! on ICE when drawing this. I’ve watched all the episodes too many times to count in the last few weeks. What a wonderful anime!

Wow, I still haven’t mastered trying to cover all the social media bases. Between Facebook, Twitter, two websites, Pinterest and Instagram, I'm finding Tumblr keeps falling by the wayside.
My new resolution is to be better about keeping up with it, not only with commissioned projects but the comic as well. *crosses fingers* My 2017 calendar is VERY booked right now.
Skip and Pip celebrated the New Year! And they have a fairly amazing 2017 ahead of them with two book releases - the first a compliation of all their 2015-2016 comics followed by a full length backstory, “How Skip Met Pip: A Bunny Love Story”.
You can check out more about them on their website!

My art contribution to feed my Yuri!!! on ICE obsession had them coming out looking like Disney princes.
I’m pretty okay about that.

Commissioned art for SJ Himes and her Beacon Hill Sorceror series. Man, I love this universe. A necromancer and a vampire as main characters? Fabulous world building on SJ’s part.

Wow Tumblr. I have ignored you. *begs forgiveness*
So 2016 is being a bit of a handful and trying to keep up on all the social media places seems to have been beyond me. But here goes nothing and trying again.
I updated my website this weekend to better showcase the work I  have completed the last year. I’ll try to be better about posting here.
What is going on with Skip and Pip will be a separate post. :D

My daughter pointed out that I hadn’t attempted a comic with contained no dialogue. I thought it would be fun to try. It’s short and sweet.
Sometimes I think that is all we need.
