Hey guys! Sorry I vanished. I’m taking 21 credit hours, working part time, and writing both a journal article and manuscript, as well as independent + lab research. (So I’ve been super busy, and have not, in fact, had a life outside of work). But I’m gonna try to be coming back! I love everything that y’all have tagged me in, and all the reblogs 💜 for the sake of my own mind tho I’m not going to be scrolling through my entire activity feed so I’ll most likely miss things. But just know I appreciate you all so much and am going to make a big attempt to be more active with you all now.

how to show fic writers you care:
REQUEST! If a writer’s requests are open, or if they’re asking for requests, then by all means, send some their way - BUT, make sure to read their rules/FAQs/about pages first.
REBLOG THEIR FICS! Likes don’t mean anything - they’re nice, sure, but if you’re just a passive/silent reader who likes then fucks off, you’re not exactly showing the writer(s) anything except you saw the post. Reblogs mean that fics get more exposure and reach a wider audience. You should ALWAYS reblog a fic if you’ve read it, which brings me to my next point:
COMMENT! When you reblog that fic you just read, leave a comment. Tell the writer what you liked about their fic, and why you enjoyed it; reblogging and adding a comment isn’t the only way to do this, though, as you can easily hit “reply” and do the same, or drop the reader an ask to tell them what you liked (many writers often have the option for you to go on anon if you’re shy), even leaving comment(s) in the tags is more than appreciated by most writers. So, yeah, there’s not really any excuse for readers to NOT comment. Always comment, always reblog.
REC LISTS! If you read a lot of fanfic, one way to show writers you actually give a shit is to add their fics to rec lists. Pretty self explanatory, innit?
DON’T BE DEMANDING! If a writer hasn’t updated a fic or posted any new writing - that’s their own fuckin’ business as to why, so don’t go into their inboxes demanding that they write or that they post. Writing is an art, and writers aren’t machinery - we got shit going on that means that we can’t write, and that’s OUR fuckin’ business, no one else’s. If you’re the person who puts “OMG, PART 2 NOW!!!” in the replies/comments/reblogs/tags, just stop. Don’t.
INTERACT! A lot of writers will post ask games/memes and shit while they’re doing stuff, which is your - as readers - opportunity to talk to that writer and get to know ‘em. Reader-writer interaction is absolutely VITAL, so by all means - go and talk to your favourite writers, even if it’s just to say “hello” and ask how they are. SEND WRITERS ASKS AND INTERACT WITH THEM.
(yes I know I’m repeating myself but) ALWAYS COMMENT, ALWAYS REBLOG. On every fic you read, if you liked it - REBLOG IT AND LEAVE A COMMENT!!
And, finally:
IF YOU LIKED A FIC - REBLOG IT, AND LEAVE A COMMENT!!

It is done. Find it HERE
This is a new idea I’ve been working on!
Summary:
Umino Iruka loved Konoha more than anything else. He did. He still does. Many regarded him as the Will of Fire in flesh and blood, loyal like no one else: more than willing to die for the kids, for the village. Except, when the village loses the Will of Fire, where would the Will of Fire go? That was the choice Iruka had to make.
I’m hoping to get the first chapter out tonight. Who’s excited? (I am)

Next Chapter of The Depth of Magic
HERE
There is magic in the world- great, blistering streams of uncontrollable power and force. One man seeks to harness this power, but to do so he must first face the dangers that create it.
In other words: Madara seeks power, but a certain Siren may change his fate.

Writing Realistic Interpersonal Relationships
Let me share some knowledge on interpersonal relationships: platonic, romantic, familiar, whatever they may be. There are many things that constitute relationships, and build chemistry (good or bad). We often recognize these things without putting words to it. So, let’s add some words to it.
1. Social Integration.
Social integration is so important for mental and emotional well-being. It’s made up of four parts: Instrumental, Satisfaction, Emotional, and Participation within ones social system. To get a little science-y: Positive Instrumental and Participation (in social systems) shows a significance decrease in depressive symptoms. This means, if people have someone they can rely on to perform PHYSICAL social support (This is instrumental, and it’s like watering the plants when the individual is away, or feeding the dog for a friend) their depressive symptoms is predicted to deacrease. It also means if an individual partakes socially (participation- partying, drinking, movie nights) their depressive symptoms is predicted to decrease.
However, if they don’t have Instrumental support of social participation, but do have social satisfaction- their depressive symptoms are actually predicted to increase. Why? No clue yet, we need to do more research. We may speculate it’s a “the grass is always greener on the other side” thing. They think their social life is good- but they have no one to rely on. No one to help them feed their pet when they need, or turn off the stove. They may THINK their social life is good but FEEL like it can be better.
And there’s no statistical significance for emotional support.
But how can this be applied? Well, how do you write your characters? Are they supported, physically and still constantly upset- which can be very real with chronic illnesses- but if they don’t have any mental illness- why are they upset? Do they have social support non-physically. They can talk to people, but when they need a ride to the doctors is no one there to take them? And yet they’re still happy and always giving amazing reviews about their friends? Why? The relationship may seem unhealthy for readers.
2. Ticks
People have ticks. Little things they do that’s habitual. When someone is nervous, they may express it by rubbing their thumb and forefinger together. That is WHAT THEY DO when they’re nervous. Some may stutter. Some may close off with their body language. Some may tap their finger. Some combine a few, or do a few different ones.
However, they won’t tap their finger in one scenario, and then wring their wrists in another, and then stutter in another- yes, people can be trained to control it, but it’s also habitual. Especially for someone untrained, they usually give off the same ticks through their interpersonal careers. Watch people. When I’m nervous- nervous, I either run my thumb against the palm of my hand, or close off and lower my gaze. When I’m excited-nervous, I bounce and stutter over my words. Sometimes I pick up someone else’s ticks when I observe them, but that’s also mimicking, and I’ll get to that later.
How can this be applied? Pick some ticks for characters in certain situations. Keep to it, it will be very human, and it’s actually quite fun to play with!
This leads to mimicking:
3. Mimicking
When people are around others they like, they mimicking what the other person does- one person crosses their legs, the other person may cross their legs. One person puts their hands on their hips, the other person may do it.
It’s a way to try to forge bonds quicker.
____
So yeah! This is some words of wisdom from a person studying psychology~ I hope this helps your future writings!
And if you have any questions, feel free to ask!

Hey I was just reading your drabbles about Tobirama and this bit: "Tobirama pulled out the kitten. He held it up, as if the little shit was Simba." had me in stiches! Thanks for awesome work! :D
Oh thank you so much!! That means a lot to hear. And, just perhaps, the little shit was Simba.
I have a few more drabbles in the work so I hope to post something tonight! Keep an eye out!

Who wants to write a story with me?
Like how Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchet wrote Good Omens. We go chapter by chapter- someone starts, and the other person continues. We don’t plot, we don’t plan. We wing it and see how it goes. We add in plot twists, ships, anything- without telling the other person other until the chapter is posted (of course, I’d prefer if things happen naturally, like in a story! Not just in there to be there)
I am ready to get baffled and fall in love and cry. I have had this idea for a while and I want to do it- I want to see how well we can wing it and create a story!
(It can be fanfiction- based off a fandom or original. I don’t really care!)
Anyone interested?
