Although I’m a Shannon and Sayid girl for life I really do mourn the fact we never got to actually see Nadia and Sayid’s relationship, because they do match each others freak in a way.

Because Sayid may have spent 7 years searching for this woman, but Nadia also spent 7 years waiting for him. She spent 7 years waiting for a guy she had a (seemingly unreciprocated) childhood crush on and then only actually became close to as an adult while he was the only person showing her a sliver of humanity while she was a prisoner… girl, what the fuck were you doing?

They both have this insane faith that this person they, in all honesty, barely know will be waiting for them and one day they’ll be reunited. And then they do find each other but it’s been so long and they barely knew each other in the first place and have spent so long building up the other their head… how the hell are they ever meant to build a proper relationship with each other? That is such a great set-up for an incredibly messy and complicated relationship but we never see any of it.

Show me them trying their hardest to make this relationship work under impossible circumstances, show me them trying to fit each other into their lives after so long, show me them realising that real life can in no way live up to the versions of each other they built up in their heads! Show me their relationship crumbling and falling and breaking apart but the two of them refusing to give up because this is what they searched for and waited for for so long! Refusing to let each other go because this was their dream! Because this was all they ever wanted and they should be the happiest they’ve ever been, right?

I always get so confused when I see someone say they don’t like whatever female character in Lost because they’re “badly written” it’s like… guys, this is Lost we’re talking about. Basically every female character just exists to prop up the male characters around her. When it comes to the women in this show I’m the one who has to do most of the heavy lifting here but I’m fine with that. Shannon wasn’t even in two full seasons but to me she’s the main character. We don’t know shit about Penelope Widmore but that’s my best friend and I won’t hear any slander against her. In my head Kate lives up to every slither of potential she had. Ana Lucia and Libby too. Danielle and Alex get what, three scenes together but I still think about their relationship every day. Claire spends two seasons with absolutely nothing to do after Charlie dies but she does stuff in my mind and that’s good enough for me!
