It had been a bit of a rough day for Ricky, however it wasn’t for anything related to saving humans from cards or familiars. Instead, it had to do with work. He loved his boss. Really, he did. But sometimes, his job as an assistant felt like he was more of a babysitter since his boss was far from mature, save the questionable porn he watches.
It’s why by the end of the day, he feels he deserves another cup of coffee. Ricky plans to stay up the night, meaning he had something important to do or he was preparing to do something important to do tonight. Some missions come off as a surprise, so he always prepared himself for the worst.
However, besides his drink, the only other thing he had attention on was his laptop in front of him. At least until he notices a girl who sat at another table, holding her phone up and showing it in his direction.
She look entertained, but Ricky was far from pleased. In fact, he was kind of irritated. No glares or bitch faces though. Just a “what’s so funny” face.
Happily, the girl watched her phone – but not for too long. Her giggles had been too loud, she figured, because as she looked at the camera on her phone, she saw him look right at her. Surprised, she quickly cleared her throat and lowered the hand with her phone. Putting on a straight face, she lightly bowed her head to him – half in apology, half because what else was she supposed to do now?
Yuna hoped for him to quickly let it drop and that he'd focus back on whatever he'd been doing – because she also hoped she could have a little more fun for a little longer. She didn't mean ill by it, she really just found it stupidly amusing and when would a situation like this ever happen again? That's right, probably never, so better make the best of it.
To see whether he'd put his attention back away from her, Yuna glanced up again.

“I wouldn’t throw around the word ‘crazy’ that easily, but your choice of jokes is indeed quite strange…”
It did confuzzle him to some extent, but would a crazy person admit that they’re crazy? Most probably not. This was why Taekwoon concluded that she’s just unique - different, to say the least. There’s just something about her that he couldn’t place…
“Yuna-sshi… okay, got it.” The male barista repeated as he wrote her name down on the plastic cup, and nodded before he politely mentioned the price of her order and accepted the payment.
“Oh, would you like some confectionary to go with the drink? We have black forest, strawberry cake, and a lot of other flavors if you want to take a look…”
“Sorry,” she said again, with her usual pretty – but secretly mischievous – smile that shouldn't be seen too earnestly. She was ready to accept her cup and walk to a nice table after paying, but his question certainly was a good question and with a smile – an earnest one this time – she nodded. “I'll take a piece of that chocolate cake, please,” she said, pointing at the requested deliciousness.
She'd always loved coffee and she'd always loved cake – even if this “always” was only a timespan of 4 years – so what would be better than having both at once?
A few days had passed until she last visited the cafe, but Yura couldn't get the thought of that barista out of her head. As expected, Yuna had judged her more than enough, but she just couldn't forget that weird something she'd felt, that led her to the cafe in the first place.
She figured she would just go and see – maybe she really was wrong about everything and if so she would find out about it today. But it was still a little early and Yura wasn't sure when he would be at the cafe. But she ended up falling asleep. Yuna on the other hand was wide awake and figured she could go instead and prove Yura wrong.
She walked in – the leather jacket exchanged for a thick taupe cardigan, her hair waved instead of straight and her jeans a light blue instead of black. The air around her was completely different and instead of the neutral expression, she looked a lot friendlier today. “Hello, I'll have a Caramel Macchiato, please,” she said with a warm voice.

Yuna sat in a cafe, sipping her coffee, enjoying some cake. It was a peaceful day, aka her favourite kind of day. No heroes to fight, no cards to fight, no one trying to capture her either – what more could a card, almost constantly tired of everything want? Well, admittedly, Yura was more on the constantly tired side than Yuna, but she had her days as well.
And to her surprise the day got even better. A bit away from her, sat a young man with an – in her opinion – utterly hilarious milk beard and he seemed to not be aware of it at all, at least that's what she thought. At first Yuna only glanced into his direction, trying to stifle her giggles. She had to bite her lip for that.
It didn't help for long, though and she took out her phone. People weren't supposed to film strangers... but she wasn't exactly human, so did that still apply to her? And even I it would have, she wouldn't have cared for it much.
The girl started the camera of her phone and tried to film him as unnoticeably as possible, though her chuckles could possibly give her away.

Beat It
Yuna sighed upon running into a certain situation. A rookie – presumably – was apparently having a little trouble fighting a monster. She was on a good day, which happened somewhat regularly but still not too often, so why not do something good and help someone for once?
She was quickly transformed – “Really? Helping the enemy?” the only thought Yura spared the situation so far – and shot a strong gust of wind in the general of the monster. She had to make sure it wouldn't get in her way, after all, even if it wasn't her job to defeat it.
Yuna could only hope that boy wouldn't suddenly start fighting her instead. Though considering the monster, it would be stupid to put his priorities on her. And it would be ungrateful, very much so, on top. Yuna and Yura didn't agree on much, but they both didn't appreciate ungratefulness at all.
“Hey! Over here!” she called out to him, waving her hand.

ccxdaichi:
in retrospect, for someone who tried so hard to ignore this world of magic, he was very awful at it. it seemed like since he came to korea, everything was far more active than it ever was in japan. or maybe because the people in his life in japan just thought he had been batshit crazy, so he waned to prove them wrong. in korea, he had friends, but none who knew what he had gone through in his youth. they knew about his evil ex-wife, but that was about it. daichi didn’t talk about his parents or the things he saw.
he almost missed those days. it was easier to be in denial then.
a voice from behind caused him to jump and he turned quickly. he sighed when he saw a young girl. he chuckled lightly, “maybe a bit bitter about it not being my hogwarts letter, but if it was, it is a good seventeen years too late…”
the male sighed and guessed he was being utterly childish about this. the chances were that it was just a wanna-be magic shop. all niche stuff to get tourists into buying crappy trinkets. that was the explanation he was going to give himself to feel better.
deciding to pull on his big boy pants, he sighed and opened the door, motioning for the female to go ahead in. “ladies first,” he offered a small smile.
Yura chuckled at his reply. Yeah, it really would've been very late. “Poor soul, waiting so long!” she said, a bit of sarcasm in her voice. Really, as a magical being already, she didn't have a lot of empathy to share. Not that she had all too much empathy to begin with, in contrast to Yuna.
Yet it were situations like these that made her glad that she – or rather Yuna – studied a lot of recent and present human-world stuff to blend in properly. Otherwise, she wouldn't have had any clue about the whole owl thing at all and just seen it as an interesting – though unusual – twist on normal mail.
“Thank you!” she smiled at him and stepped inside, her eyes slowly moving over the many items. Trinkets, talismans, charms... anything magical – or wannabe magical – one could think of. But she had a feeling at least something about this place was legit. It was like a weird feeling crawled up her spine.
“Look at this!” she addressed the man she'd only just met and pointed at one of the curious items. It was a little... something, in the form of what looked like a mix between an elephant and a dog, which in her opinion was utterly ridiculous, especially seeing the colourful little stones on it.

ccminki:
Minki nearly dropped the set of books in his arms because of what was happening in front of his very eyes.
It was like a regular day at the library where Minki had to bring the books that have been returned back to their respective shelves. He often took his time, leaving the front desk empty while he walked in between numerous sections of the library. He usually didn’t have a problem because not many people needed the help of a person behind the front desk with technology nowadays. And if there was someone, Minki returned without the person having to wait for a very long time.
Today, someone came to the front desk. But what he saw nearly made him scream despite being in such a quiet sanctum.
“People don’t usually go around touching other people’s belongings, miss.” Minki swiped the sketchbook from her hands, placing it on the table with the drawings facing downward. He tried his best to keep his voice low and not yell because he was still an employee and in the middle of working, but he didn’t bother hiding the annoyance between his teeth.
Yura didn't let her surprise show at all. Suppressing the jump, she calmly looked at the owner of the drawings. “Oh, I'm sorry!” she lied, with a sweet, honest-looking smile, holding her hands behind her back, now where she wasn't holding the sketchpad any longer. “It- kind of drew me in,” Yura continued, not exactly lying this time.
He was obviously annoyed and being in a playful mood – which was one of those moods Yuna hated Yura for – Yura figured she might just enjoy herself a little more. “You draw really well! It's rather intriguing.” Her voice was lower than usual, since she didn't want to get into more trouble than necessary. But her tone was definitely still chipper.
The female talked as though there hadn't been a problem at all and as if everything was fine. It was the kind of attitude she'd gotten a lot of angry and annoyed comments for, but that was exactly what she'd wanted – she didn't care much if Yuna was ever to meet that person and get into an uncomfortable situation either.

After the disappointment the letter had brought her – really, who dared sending a letter through an owl, when it really was only advertisement for some shop? – she still decided getting an owl for herself sounded pretty sweet. Of course, if Yura had read the message properly, she wouldn't actually have come, after all it was “only” an owl delivery service, which could be interpreted different ways, really.
Eventually, Yura decided she'd go and so there she was, all giddy in excitement and ready to bring her very own owl home. A snow owl, or a barn owl would've been nice, she figured. But really, she wasn't all too picky, plus a smaller size one would probably be better, seeing the size of her apartment.
When she arrived, Yura saw someone in front of the store. Seeing her good mood, it was no surprise that her comment was a lot less sarcastic than usual. “Here to complain about the fake Hogwarts letter as well?” she asked, not actually having thought of it as that, but finding the thought amusing none the less.

( yuuko’s magic shop around 5:34pm w/ @ccxyuna )
daichi has made it a goal in his life to avoid the ‘magic’ world as possible. he went so deep into ignoring it that for the longest time, he forgot it existed. it was safer that way. his parents weren’t as cruel and he finished high school in peace. he went through culinary school and got married, then divorced. he got a job as a head chef and moved to another country.
his life hadn’t been perfect, but it had been better. when he pretended he was normal, he was… happier. things were easier. he wasn’t terrified of being eaten alive by a monster, or recruited by that weird old man again. now that he was acknowledging the world around him again, he needed protection.
that was why he decided to go to yuuko’s shop. maybe there was something there he could use to blind him to the magical word. maybe there was something that would take his sight away. maybe she could! he heard some things. if anyone could or knew a way, it had to be yuuko.
and yet, his feet refused to move the last remaining steps. he stood several feet from the door, just staring at it. his fingers were curled into fists at his side. he spent so long trying to get away from this world that no one else could see. was he going to risk walking right into it for hope that he could finally be free from it? what if he got his hopes up? he was terrified.

“Thank you,” she smiled, then chuckled. “You're flattering me too much, would I be human- well you wouldn't believe the bags under my eyes.” Yura took a sip, then set the cup back down on the table. “Pretty well, actually, but I've been pushed to a later hour because of some young singer who has to go on stage earlier because of some age thing,” she frowned, not very happy with it. And it didn't make sense, because the place served alcohlic beverages after all... and in general it wasn't the most kid friendly, but oh well. “Anyway you'll have to come by a bit later from now on.” She chuckled again, contradicting her mood from just seconds ago, as usual.
Honestly, Yuna never really minded the small talk with Minseok, because even if it was only small talk and nothing serious, it was still nice and felt relaxing. Yet she was glad to start on the more interesting, possibly dangerous things. Yuna had never been much of a gossiper, but this didn't count too much as gossip she thought, it was pretty serious after all.
“Hmm...” she pondered for a moment, back of her index finger against her lips. “Well, I don't have too many things to tell you today, I fear.” Yuna sighed, remembering how Yura had been out a lot of the time lately, getting into whatever trouble she could, keeping Yuna from gathering much interesting news.
“But I did hear about some 'fun game' for the Busan league, because of which they're out to get more cards. Some kind of points thing I think.” Yuna nodded to herself, then shook her head. She really didn't understand those magical ballerinas – how could they just go around and capture innocent cards? Sure some might pose some sort of danger to them, but others certainly didn't. “I didn't really get too many details, but supposedly they're looking around for cards a lot more than usual.”
don’t shoot the messenger.
boredom, there was no emotion minseok had gotten quite as familiar with as boredom ever since his release from the spellbook. it almost felt like days were beginning to blend in with one another, his life becoming a slur of the most uninteresting, mundane tasks over and over again like a record stuck on repeat.
his fingers were still aching to do something, a little mayhem here and there as a break from the insignificant tasks like buying groceries, going to work and checking his mail like he had grown far too familiar with. he needed just a small speck of chaos to keep it interesting.
but he couldn’t as long as those damn heroes were breathing down his back, waiting dutifully for his human facade to slip up so they could put him back in that damn card.
which was all to blame on the state the world was currently in. a state that, to be fair, minseok knew very little about. he didn’t care about magical politics. not about who was currently in charge of the busan league, not about what teams were currently out on the hunt for him, not about which cards had already been struck by disaster and captured yet again, all of it left minseok severely disinterested.
his unknowingness was dangerous, he knew that much, yet he could just not be bothered to care.
luckily there was one person (or should he say two?) that had always kept out an eye for him, providing him with the latest whispers and gossips that traveled from card to card. her stories made the news somewhat bearable, at least enough to not immediately roll his eyes and switch to another subject.
“there you go.” he hummed, putting the cup of tea down in front of yuna before taking the seat across from her at the small table located on his balcony. “it’s good to see you, you look beautiful as ever. how are your shows going? please remind me to come watch you again soon.” he smiled friendly, squinting against the sunlight that was blinding his sight. “but i don’t mean to keep you up with boring small talk, tell me what did i miss out on.”

ccxleo:
Taekwoon stared at the female stranger in front of him—now that’s weird. Walking into a cafe and asking such a random question at the barista and calling it a joke… wasn’t that a little bit too much? Then again, he didn’t know her, so that definitely wasn’t just a random prank… unless she’s out of her mind or something.
“I… see.”
And just then, he caught her strange expression, and momentarily he really wondered whether something’s wrong with her. But then it’s gone like the wind, and everything seemingly went back to normal, as if nothing had transpired during the last few seconds or so. Just in the blink of an eye.
Strange.
The male shook the discomforting feeling away with a subtle shake of his head, and immediately went back to preparing the female’s order—taking the plastic cup and a marker, he then turned towards her.
“May I have your name, miss?”
“Sorry,” Yura apologised again, looking apologetic. “I'm not usually quite as strange,” she promised. “Though I guess that's what a crazy person might say, huh?” A smirk showed on her face, realising that if anything he would only be more confused or more suspicious of her now. Or maybe not.
“Yuna.” She lied with a sweet smile. Yuna, Yura... not that much of a difference anyway. Plus they were carrying Yuna's ID around and not Yura's anyway. While he wrote her name down, she got her wallet out and counted the money – a little more than what she actually owed him. This wasn't something she usually did – Yuna yeah, but not Yura – but she felt a little sorry. Plus it may make his picture of her a little nicer.
And this was important for her plans because there was something magical about him and she was sure of it and even if she wouldn't address it anymore – at least for now – she was going to stick around. And she was going to find out eventually – or so she thought.

It’s dark, but Mark thinks it makes the stars light up even more, and it’s beautiful. He hopes letting the darkness creep through will work, but he merely thinks, and he doesn’t know. There is the quality of rareness in his concentrated raven eyes, quick to clean up, quick to retrieve, quick to patch her up.
Slender fingers trailing down strands of muscle, down the length of her arm, pushing her into place. He can see past her skin, her blood lighting up, her tension, the heat and cold of her body and how tissues wrap around bones and her non existent heart beating and lungs functioning.
That’s the problem– he can see right through her in the most magical sense of the word but he can never capture her into a card, he just can’t.
So now it’s just a chase of Alice and the White Rabbit; poor Mark Tuan. Now, he’s thrown to the air, hardly having a plan in mind before finally getting slumped down against the surface. He lifts his hand up, pushes himself from the ground with a few scratches around him and goes to dust non existent powder from his clothes.
“That wasn’t cool” he says, amidst the music blasting on his earphones. He takes his wires out and whips it aggressively around her, tight and strong.
“But this is fun”
Yura didn’t move a muscle, but she certainly did not like this at all. She should’ve been more careful and she was already annoyed by all the scolding she’d have to go through later, after escaping. If you’re going to escape, I’ll kill you if you get us captured. An angry voice in the back of her mind pointed out.
But she would never give up without a fight. Neither Yura nor Yuna would. And air – which was after all her speciality – was certainly effective against mass, so a human body was the perfect target for her. Even better if it would knock the guy out for a while and she’d have time to flee, because boy, did she not like being touched by a stranger. Though he surely had his reasons as a magical ballerina – which is how she liked to address heroes after watching the one or other ridiculous magical girl anime.
She smirks at his words, cocking her head. Yura was ready to retort something witty, but before she could do so, the wires were around her. And they were a lot harder to push away through wind magic as they were too thin. She growled low and the smirk had left her face completely.
Again she stood completely still – moving against the wires would possibly only tighten them more and she really didn’t want that. Yura frowned at his comment and wanted to retort something witty again, but she knew better than to do that. Instead she tried focusing the wind on the wires, to loosen them, which presented itself to take a lot more concentration and strength than she would’ve thought.
“You know I was actually going to go eat something, so I really don’t have time for this right now.” she gave in and said in the end, hoping that it would at least distract him enough to get out of this wiry situation.

Small Mistakes
Lately, Yura felt, there were more of those magical ballerinas jumping around than usual. Again, she got caught up in a fight and again she won. She was lucky to have the wind powers she did, as those easily took out the heroes. At least the weaker ones, the stronger and more experienced ones were a different story – a very different story as Yuna liked to remember Yura.
With a smirk, she quickly got into a smaller alley and transformed back. But it was too late when she noticed that someone was standing only a couple metres away from her and she could only hope they were a card as well – or a human that would believe her “Huh? Oh that? Ooooh I'm only cosplaying” excuse, without asking too many more questions.

Curiosity Kills the Cat
@ccminki
It was a rare thing for Yura to ever go to a library. Unsurprisingly, her eyes quickly caught something else than the books surrounding her, which she was actually supposed to look at. After all she'd promised to research something for a friend... oh well, too bad for the friend.
And what she saw instead was surely not supposed to be seen by her eyes – just like she surely wasn't supposed to be behind the library's front desk. And yet Yura had gotten curious and stepped further. She took the sketchbook and started to turn pages, looking at the different sketches.
She couldn't really make anything of it, but continued to go through it anyway. Yura even forgot to check if the owner was coming anywhere close and whether it would've been better to leave unseen.

Good Luck, Bad Luck
@ccjaebum
Today Yura decided to go out to eat again. She felt like having beef stew and decided to go to a place she heard was really, really good. The girl really loved food and so she'd been in a good mood all day, looking forward to it.
After entering she saw that the place was pretty full, but not as full as she'd expected it to be. Yura ordered beef stew – just like she'd planned – and was glad when she was told that she was lucky, because that was the last beef stew of the day.
It only got her into an even better mood, because wow, when was she actually lucky like this? Exactly – barely ever. And so she smiled to herself, looking forward to what she was sure would be a delicious meal.

The subtle, but certain - as much as it could be distinguished - presence; now Taekwoon was not aware of that coming out of him, but to be honest, the way he immediately managed to look up when she entered might had just given him away to the keen observers, even though he didn’t exactly realize why.
Thankfully, there weren’t any.
Most of the people there were regulars who stays until morning - university students working on assignments, programmers and hackers alike (distinguished them by the laptop they use and how discreet they were with their own screen, really), or nightowls who tends to stay until past midnight before going home. Their ambience was perfect for people looking for peace - distantly, the latest Korean idol songs could be heard from the speakers, loud enough to distinguish but not intruding. There weren’t many people to begin with, and the male barista was cleaning the counter while humming very softly to the music; that is, until the female walking in managed to get his undivided attention.
“Yes, wait a moment, please,” he bowed his head and began to prepare her order - but he hadn’t even gotten to taking the standard cup when the question made him turn.
“…Power? What power?”
Yura was a confident “person” - though actually insecure from time to time – and she wasn't wrong too often. At least that's what she thought, Yuna would definitely disagree. So It was a big surprise, when the male in front of her didn't just seem to play dumb, but earnestly looked like he didn't know what she was talking about.
The recovery of her facial expression was quick – luckily – and she smiled, chuckling a little. “Oh, I'm sorry, I was just joking, must be the lack of caffeine.” But something felt off. She definitely felt something... or not? Actually, she wasn't so sure anymore, because it was gone? Maybe another card just left right before she walked in? And that's why she could feel magic?
Well, it was either a card that already left, or he was an extremely good actor, who didn't emit all that much magic. While waiting for her coffee to be ready, she bit on her lower lip. It just couldn't be, he had to be a card, he just had to.
Yura's face would've been funny to look at right now, because just after she started biting her lower lip in thought, her her brows furrowed and upper lip pulled up a little, in disgust. That was because she could already imagine what Yuna would say to this. “Don't be so high of yourself, he obviously isn't.” or “Oh really? Because I can't feel any magic and when it comes to that we feel the same, so how do you explain that?”
It annoyed her, but after her thoughts came back to earth, her expression straightened, leaving not much to read.

Oops, I did it again
@ccxtuan
Yura couldn't help but pick fights every now and then. Now, she didn't make it too easy for heroes to find her, because she definitely didn't want to be caught – since pride comes before the fall – but also because Yuna would definitely make her life hell. Yuna would blame her – and she wouldn't really be wrong to do so.
Today was one of those days, where she'd had to take her anger out on a poor hero, though. It was definitely a rookie and she'd beat them easily. Now, she hid in an alleyway and thanked herself for having chosen a late time like this, so at least she wouldn't be seen as easily.
Of course her magical outfit helped her hide more easily through the light reflecting tiny “mirror” stones and her wind magic, but she could never be sure, so better safe than sorry, the Card figured. And so she quickly changed back – of course without looking left and right first, contradicting her previous thoughts for caution – and noticed the person a couple metres away from her way too late. This would be another one of those moments, Yuna would be angry at her for. Well at least this 'in the same body' ordeal had one good side to it.
“Concentrate, darn it!” Yura told herself and quickly sized the male up and down, wondering if he was a human and she could just say that she was cosplaying or something like that, or a hero she would possibly have to fight again.
