I have zero issue with people wildin’ out on tumblr and saying whatever they want to say here because that is the singular purpose of this website as a fan space. Seriously, if I’m ever saying something it’s not about anybody here because this is the place you can share those thoughts and opinions and find community and if I don’t agree, I can scroll on.

However, when you take that fan energy to a mainstream social media platform the lines become incredibly blurred in interactions where one party is presenting as themselves in a professional capacity related to their job and another is acting and engaging as a fan account.

I don’t know how to really explain it but it’s related to a deteriorating 4th wall in fandom culture and also the ever growing clap back style fan wars nature that has thrived on Twitter.

* I also don’t disagree that sports journalists on Twitter have a sensationalism problem. That’s also the nature of people getting paid per click and needing engagement to drive revenue. It’s a two-fold problem and no one is innocent in this situation.
