omg! What a lovely cel! If you plan on or have framed it, make sure you air it out once a year! (And that the frame shop did it properly. It’d be awful if it gone vinegar syndrome) :D What a beautiful cel!

Sakura and Tomoyo official Dakimakura, distributed by Nakayoshi in 1999ish.

The Tomoyo Bag is a bit dirty but the Sakura bag is very clean. These are the original bags but I’m considering rebagging them both.

Not only a wonderful cel, but a wonderful visual of how they are laid!

The peg holes on the top would line up with pegs on a table/board, all the images would be layered, then photographed to create the film for the animation.

This is a two layer cel, meaning each character is drawn on its own cellophane paper! (Notice how in the second image Conan is now being hidden by the sleepy Mouri Kogoro!) Also note how the outline is gone. The outline of the drawing is on the front of the cel, usually Xeroxed from the artist’s final drawing, and paint is applied to the back! The numbers/Letters in the top right corner are the frame names/numbers, letting them know its location/timing I think. (I don’t know I wasn’t animating at the time cel animation was being done, I’m just a guy with google.)

Cool right? 

Because there are multiple frames and usually only one background per scene, it’s not always common to find a frame with a matching original background, hence the higher price! Not only that, but this cel looks to be at a larger length than normal cels, which means it’s a pan cel! (They would pan the cel to the side and photograph it as it inched one direction to create motion, maybe focusing on Mouri first, before slowly scrolling toward Conan as he makes his deduction.
