Magical Caretaker AU - Lost in Translation

I already did write about the fact that Sun uses mental images that he sends into Y/N's mind to communicate. Sometimes it can be hard to decipher them. Some flowers. An imagine of you. A flower meadow during a sunset. Maybe he wants to show you the place? Or is he asking you for some special flowers? Maybe he just wanted to share a nice memory of his?

During a break you decide to ask Moon if he has any idea about what Sun might wanted of you earlier this day.

Seems like Moon doesn't know anything. At least when you ask him if he has any idea what Sun could have meant, he just answers with a simple no. That he is grinning from horn to horn while doing so, doesn't raise any questions for you. That's just Moon being Moon, right? So you let the topic drop as you go back to your daily tasks. But it seems like Sun has overheard Moon's answer. And contrary to you, he is well aware that Moon had been lying.

Sun is a bit upset. After all Moon knows very well how much effort he puts into confessing his feelings to you on an almost daily basis! And instead of helping him out of his predicament, Moon has nothing better to do, then to watch and keep all quiet about it! It would all be so much easier if Moon, would just translate for him instead of playing dumb!

After his little fit, Sun keeps sulking while pouring his heart out to Moon. Not the first time that he does that, since Moon's the only one fluidly understanding him. And while Moon is not budging about the fact that he will not play translator for Sun's love confession, he does give Sun another idea to try out. If the old stuff obviously doesn't work, why not do something different? Sun is more than pleased with the idea! Don't get Moon wrong though. He does find all those misunderstandings between you and Sun funny to no end. But at the same time, he does want Sun to succeed as well. Because in the end of the day, Moon does love you just as much as he does love Sun. But he isn't in a hurry to tell you two about it. He can wait til Sun had made his move first, before following along. ... and to see both of your faces when the day comes will make the whole waiting more then worth it.

One of the best stories I ever read as a child was a fantasy novel by some local dude selling books out of a suitcase on the sidewalk downtown, and I don't remember what it was called or who the author was, and it's so obscure that no matter how many elements I remember, I've never been able to find it through web searches. I only vaguely remember the story - it was a love story, something about a tower on an island and two characters on a quest to discover their forgotten past. They fall in love and at the end the only way to stay together is to allow themselves to forget again, and you realize that they're right where they started, in the exact same tower, and they're doomed to go on this same quest over and over again, never completed, but that also means they'll fall in love over and over again forever. And I remember how that ending blew up my little child brain into a million pieces.

I don't know what happened to the book, and I'll probably never read it again, but if you're somewhere out there and you were once selling fantasy novels from a suitcase on the sidewalk in the suburbs of Chicago, and if you ever felt like your writing never meant anything or went anywhere except a hundred copies you had printed yourself and sold for almost nothing, please know that your story buried itself in my young brain and has probably shaped my worldview in ways even I don't understand.

Concept/future GC scene (spoilers)

YN to Neutron, wondering if we are really tied to our experiences, and if it is still possible to help Biohazard make peace with himself.

Trauma does not define the path we will take in the end. That is our responsibility. Neutron knows they could be wrong, and at the same time, just as sure as how much that line of thinking has helped them not to test the limits of their sanity.

Maybe this answers the question of what kind of character Neutron is, and their role in the story

when I was a kid I read a sci-fi story where some researcher discovers that all crocodiles since prehistory have had the same congenital heart defect, so they set about curing it. when they do, suddenly their research specimen starts getting stronger and healthier and growing rapidly and developing new appendages, and it turns out all crocodilians were actually stunted sickly forms of dragons. that story really stuck with me because it's basically an expression of the "what if I went to the doctor and they discovered I was deficient in one special vitamin and then I took a pill and all my problems and ailments vanished immediately" fantasy.
