I don't know if you remember but a year ago or so, I made a tiny embroidery of a Parisian scene. That was quite some fun. Yesterday while working on the computer I was thinking of trying it again with different topics. I will do some architectural one in the future but this time I wanted to make a figurative one that I had in mind. The nice thing with tiny designs is that you can stitch in many different accessories : t-shirts, tote-bags, hats, pencil-case, so on and so on. It is a great way for me to use one strand (you know how love to work with very thin threads.).⁠ I might put this pattern in a limited edition in 3 different size depending of your project. When I say limited edition, I might just open it for sale 24 hours only. I will think more about the idea and see if I will do it or not. ⁠ The video is showing you how I proceed with backstitch, I usually don't do full loops, but in this example as the stitches are tiny, so it's a great way to secure my thread, mostly if it is for a t-shirt. My mood today 💃 😂 We are moving our stuff and getting prepared for our trip to France. I feel like dropping all the luggages and leaving like a princess and a free bird hahah. I love this piece, in a way I am quite happy no one bought it yet because it is very personal to me for some reason. Not that I am close to the dancing world but I just like the story behind it. Drawing figures has been a subject I have been drawing for many years. To be honest, I started joining nude model drawing classes when I was 15 years old. Officially I was not allowed to join at my age, but I was lucky to look older than my age. It was my first step at the School of Fine Arts in Paris, I still remember the first time: shaking hands, I drew nervously. Not that I was intimidated by the models, but it was the first time a teacher would judge me on what I was drawing. This teacher in questions supported me in my approach and saw that I had a real passion for it. For me the body in art is not a subject representing sexuality. What I like is the difference of the forms between the different bodies, each body to its history. You can feel the sensitivity, the history, the confidence and everything else in a body. When we draw a figure we do not know what people are living but their bodies can transmit scars, traces of their being. So that's why I decided to be a photographer later for a few years. Now here I am doing embroidery, and I rediscover the figures in a new way. Here is a discovery of what is the beginning of a reunion between me and a passion of youth. Back to embroidery for this summer season🌞!! I start with the July pattern on our monthly program. I realized that we did not create yet any pattern of this iconic Eiffel Tower. This pattern will practice your skill with very small stitches to create details. There will be some colors too !!  We realize that more of you would like advanced patterns which is a great news for us to make more complex patterns with different angles ! We decided to get in the same boat, roaming in the same direction without knowing the way, but we are together. We got all sort of judgements during the way, but we knew, you and me, that we were doing what feels right to us. If life is meant to be lived according to people's opinions why would we ? We passed through challenges and we tried to deal with it as soon as we can, all this to say that we were creating since day 1, strong foundations in our couple. What counts is to be here, you around my arms, feeling your breath, caring about our well being. I remember you to say that we can't advice people to go for their dreams if we don't do it ourseleves. That what we are doing, going for our dreams. We have been called "crazy", "traditionalists", "too young", "dreamers", we told us a thousand times to get "A real job" but we didn't see it this way. What we live is more than real, and we know it. We decided to share our journey together, to show everyone that this is not complicated, everyone can do it, prove is, we are doing it. You were a student and I was stopping my job we started from scratch, we also had no followers but we just jumped. For the love of our passion, for the passion between you and me. I fell for it again. Honestly it pisses me off. Yesterday I was posting a video that took me time and really enjoyed to do. After posting it, I literally got no views. After a hour I deleted it. Then I felt guilty that I fell for the algorithm again. Many would tell me, "you don't do your art for the likes, you do it for you. " Right and... wrong. Right that I make my art for me. But for every career in life we have a purpose. And every artists want to share to people what they are doing, the message that they want to express. If you block the expression, it's like cutting the feet of a runner. The likes, I don't care, but that my post doesn't get reach by any of my followers, yes, it attacks me. It attacks me because I realise that we have no control out of that, it makes me realise that most people I follow I don't get their posts also, even if I would like to see it. By Instagram wanted to adapt your feed according to what you like (according to them) puts you in a mental jail. Personally if I follow completely different and opposite persons, is to get challenge in what I see. I don't want to see the same thing other and other again. But that what happen all the time. I want to share you my state right now to prove you that it happens to everyone. We are getting fooled, and when you work with a platform that fools you, it can turns you crazy. I shared recently the weird state of my follow/unfollow stats on Instagram. We can clearly see that there is something behind the scene that control the profile behaviour. To maybe control..... emotions. Yes, our phones and mostly social media shape us emotionally. Plenty of books and research is popping talking about that. Elin read a great one made by a psychiatrist, we talk about it on our podcast episode of today on Charles and Elin. So now what ? More I work with Instagram and internet the more I know about it, I am working to not get tricked emotionally as I know it is a common thing they do to make me continue to use the platform. I want to concentrate on content I share and on you guys. The best thing I can do is to share it you the experiences and that you learn from it without you have to go through this. When I illustrate I used to love #stippling, if you want to see how it looked like you can check my first ever posts to see it ! To sum up it is to make an illustration with only dots. As I love the effect and the beauty of a #frenchknot I decided to go fully dots in this piece and see if I can reproduce the same kind of effect with embroidery. So far it works, unlike illustration it doesn't hurt the hand, but it does hurt the neck haha, so I found a weird position to not be in pain that I might show you next time ! It was a lovely day, 18 degrees, sunny and we were chilling in a terrace, for northern people like us, what can we ask for more ? Well...
