My longform essay about “Maestro” Anthony Frisell is out today. I’m beyond grateful that it found a home in this beautiful journal @cagibilit (and that they published the whole thing). May it be a testament to our love.

Also: Now that the piece is online, my hope is that it leads us to a home for his archives. I’ve attempted to submit them to several organizations, but have struck out so far. If anyone has an in, please reach out.

I’m quite proud of this essay on prayer. I’m glad it found a home at eMerge Magazine. I was able to read the editors’ comments from another journal where it ALMOST made it in. They ranged from “this guy needs help and I don’t wanna hear about it” to “he had me at shit sausage.” It’s not for everyone but it is me:

I’m so pleased to have had this essay published. It’s about chaos, hope and the fabulous GenerationZ!

One of the 11th graders at my school just wrote this essay “Censorship in History Classes Hurts Students, Encourages Racism.” What a skilled essayist at such a young age! I can tell you with metaphysical certitude that over 20 years of teaching high school I’ve never seen so many wise, open, loving, fierce, brilliant kids. Every year they’re making better and better humans. (Maybe it’s the socials?) DON’T BELIEVE THE HYPE GENZ IS THE GREATEST!

Six socially-distanced, concert performances of The Winter Journey are coming up at the end of February. The venue is in the East Village and audiences are limited to 10 people per performance with strict safety protocols. All proceeds go to the dancers and staff of New York Theater Ballet, a vital community organization. Please DM me if you would like details. I will not put you on a list.
