Book Update #1
As you may know, I am currently in the process of writing my very first book. I thought I’d go ahead and post a quick update about how it’s going. So far I only have about 20,000 words (roughly 55 pages). So, it’s very slow going, but I’ve been in a writing mood lately so I’m writing a lot more lately than I have previously. My goal is to have 40,000+ words by the end of the year. More would be ideal, but I have to be realistic here.
As for the story itself, I don’t want to say too much in case an idea thief is reading my updates, but I will say there will be a lot of LGBTQ+ and blindness representation throughout the book. So if you’re part of the LGBTQ+ community and would like to make sure you see yourself represented in the book please leave anything I should know in the comments, especially if you are in an underrepresented section of the community. I have firsthand knowledge about some aspects of the LGBTQ+ community, but don’t want to misrepresent anyone else.
I also wanted to mention that I will most likely create social media accounts specifically for the book once it gets closer to the release, but since I don’t have a name, cover, or estimated release date I will not create them yet. Until then you can get updates here or on any of my other social media accounts which are all my name, Chelby Farley, except Snapchat, which is chattychelby. I will try not to leave y’all hanging here for so long without an update in the future, but I update a lot more on my other social media. With that, if you have any questions feel free to leave them in the comments, and I will update y’all soon.

Hey, I am Chelby Farley. I was born with a condition called Septo Optic-Dysplasia, which caused me to be legally blind and have several other health problems. I have a dog named Glenna, who I got from Guiding Eyes for the Blind, who was my guide dog from 2013 to 2018. I have both a mom and a dad, and a younger brother, who all love me and who I cherish.
I am part of the LGBTQ+ community, and came out as bisexual in 2017. I am a huge advocate for the blind and LGBTQ+ communities, and have been making YouTube videos about blindness since 2011 and videos about the LGBTQ+ community since 2017. I am also a college graduate. I graduated in 2018 with my bachelor’s degree in Child Development with the hopes of becoming a Child Life Specialist. Unfortunately, my dream of becoming a Child Life Specialist didn’t work out, and now I’m trying to figure out what the heck I’m going to do instead. I am working on writing my first novel though, which I'm incredibly excited about.
Lastly, I have depression, and have been hospitalized 3 times because of it. While I am still struggling a lot with it, I am doing my best to keep fighting and also showing people what it’s like to actually have depression. I am terrified of what life has in store for me, but I’m determined to document it all, the good, the amazing, the bad, the ugly, the dark, and the hideous.
