Yeah the new show basically retcons the whole third movie cuz the coat never would have allowed Jack to be Santa according to the new lore.
In The Santa Clause 3, Scott and Jack Frost fight over the Santa suit, because whoever puts it on first becomes Santa.
In The Santa Clauses tv show, the suit is presented as a magical, potentially sentient, thing that actively avoids this guy who is not supposed to be the next Santa Claus.
So why didn’t the suit avoid Jack Frost?
retconning.

Woke up with a painful thought and now must share it with all of you:
Cassian, lying broken and near death at the bottom of the data tower on Scarif, thinking of Jyn up at the top alone, Krennic on her tail, knowing he needs to help her, and whispering to himself:
“Climb.”

Hello, Mr.Gaiman. Recently, I watched the episode "Calliope" again and noticed that Calliope addresses The Fates as "mother" and they call her "daughter". Some people think that it's just an address, but some think that The Fates are actually her mother, at least in a spiritual way. What would you say about this, I wonder?
I'd say that version of the Three-in-One consisted of the original three Muses (Melete, Aoede, and Mneme), which preceded the nine muses that followed, of whom Calliope was the youngest.

This deleted scene from The Sandman episode "The Sound of Her Wings" gives us a little more insight into why Death is the way she is. We hope you enjoy it.

I love the Nox and wish we got to see more of them in SG-1!

Our pod about Stargate SG-1 Season 1, The Nox and Brief Candle, is up now! We really enjoyed talking about the use of language in The Nox and timey-wimey stuff in Brief Candle. Content warning in the show notes for some dub-con/non-con in Brief Candle.

I absolutely hate it when I hear that my name gets brought up at publishing meetings as an example of "authors who made social media work for them." Like fuck you, the lesson you should've learnt from my case was "take a chance on a book an editor is eager to acquire even if it's in a genre that hasn't been selling well" (Iron Widow got shot down at every major American publisher for market reasons even though many editors wanted it), not "LET'S PUSH AUTHORS TO BECOME INFLUENCERS." The skillset someone needs to be popular on social media is completely different than what's used to write books. Why would you force the average author to shake their ass on TikTok instead of DOING THE MARKETING THAT IS YOUR JOB and letting authors write in peace

hi mr gaiman, i just wanted to ask, why do events in the show version of sandman seem (for lack of better word) kinder than the comic version? eg. alex is a more sympathetic character in the show than in the comics, john dee ends up not killing rosemary, gault having better motvation and getting to turn into a dream as compared to her comic counterparts. the show clearly doesnt shy away from gore, so i was just wondering if these changes were made for like thematic reasons. thank you!
I think we're older and perhaps a bit kinder than I was thirty four years ago.

I have a question: when u draw squid, it seems like you draw them with their tentacles and everything all together, but in other portrayals, people like to have them all splayed out. Is this a personal choice or based on the species of squid you draw? also what kind of squid are the ones you’ve been making? Thanks!
Ooh this is a good question. I draw them all together because that's how I almost always see them IRL. When they're swimming or not really doing much of anything, they usually hold them together. When they're attacking/eating/mating/trying to look tough/trying to look like algae, they're splayed or held above their head or whatever (this part is super specific to the species, like reef squid tend to do silly things with their arms for various reasons). Most of the time most species kinda keep their arms/tentacles in a little cone!
It looks more interesting and dramatic to have them all over the place, but... I am mostly drawing what I'm used to seeing them doing!
One thing you'll see a lot, more-so in old cephalopod art, is the tentacles all dangling out. That's often because that person was looking at a DEAD CEPHALOPOD. Living cephalopods MOST of the time keep those tentacles tucked between their arms. They come out to grab food, but otherwise, USUALLY, they're tucked away. In art, you often see them going wild all over the place. Looks good! But doesn't usually happen IRL.
The squid I usually draw are:
Doryteuthis
Reef Squid
Firefly Squid
(hey! these ones are splayed! that's because I saw them doing this pose in pictures)

Bit of a strange, and very specific, question.
In Sandman, Fiddlers Green uses the exclamation “Hoom” a lot.
I've been reading The Two Towers for the first time and noticed that Tolkien also has Treebeard using “Hoom”. I know Tolkien was familiar with Chesterton's work, and it got me thinking.
Did you have Fiddlers Green saying Hoom because it was something Chesterton was known to say a lot?
If so, do you think Treebeard says it because Tolkien is paying tribute to Chesterton?
Or was it just something common in the circles both Tolkien and Chesterton moved?
Thanks!
It was something I had wanted someone to say ever since I first encountered Treebeard as a boy, and Gilbert seemed like someone who ought to say it.
