Good reasons to ship chengqing
1) jc's wq greatest creation and the proof of her medical genius the Gothic Frankenstein vibes undertones are strong
2) in a post canon scenario do they feel like they are betraying their family loving someone who is one of the reasons their family is dead
3) genuinely post-canon wwx would lose his shit. 'how dare you forgive her for family-murder but not me?'
4) post knowing the truth about the golden core jc could be either disgusted by having intimacy with wq or even more into it. Or both he co
5) they are fundamentally the opposite of wangxian. like wangxian is about 'I choose you over everyone else' while chengqing is like 'I lov you so much but I'll murder you if it means protecting my family <3'
6) older girl x younger boy
7) i find interesting exploring wq & lotus pier (maybe during the timeskip). There's so much to unpack her.
8) wq would definitely ask jc to drop any grudge he has against wn and play nice with him. jc obviously would do anything to make happy his loved ones. still very funny to see and explore
9) wq could get jc pregnant and perform every medical modification she wants on jc because now jc's body is wq's

Out here having feelings about combs like a sucker, but
Jiang Cheng only gives Wen Qing the comb after he tells her that he has a debt to her and she tells him that they’re square. She saved him, he saved her, no need for them to have anything more to do with each other. The comb is an offer to move into “hey I’d actually rather if you didn’t die for personal reasons” territory. It’s going to go really well for them.
He doesn’t even give it to her directly, just puts in on the table and leaves, which means he doesn’t know if she took it until she gives it back to him.
I know this is obvious and I’m late but he must have been carrying that comb around constantly since he bought it. He had it when Lotus Pier burned. He had it when he was having trauma freakouts because of the Wen insignia on her robes. He had to have had it tucked into his robes when he walked up that mountain so she could do secret experimental surgery on him. My take on their relationship is that he had a crush coupled with some empathy that could have turned into something more but never really had a chance to, but that is some highkey toting around a token of your adolescent regard.
p>I’m going to sneak some Yunmeng bros feeling in here because of course I am. So that other time Jiang Cheng was carrying around a sentimental object linked to someone he cared for but had some mixed feelings about:

How sure are we that he didn’t just literally have that thing tucked into his robes for sixteen years?

call for propaganda
looking to advance from the golden core brainrot stage to the nascent soul brainrot stage - in other words, looking to get into more jiang cheng ships lol
everyone please respond with propaganda for your favorite jiang cheng ship
for maximal propaganda effectiveness please follow this format:
what existing problems does the ship solve?
what new problems does the ship create?
what in-law drama does the ship cause?
imo an ideal ship has content for all 3 questions
please and thank yew

If it’s not too much to ask can we get some ideas on how chengqings relationship ship bloomed both before and during the war? Not just romantically, I also mean as friends and comrades. Sorry I just rlly love the ship I THIBK they’d go nicely but the fandom generally calls them the forced het pairing so there isn’t much content
You asked for chengqing, I give you chengqing. I don’t care what people say; i’ve only seen CQL and as far as I’m concerned chengqing is a tragic pair and I’m gonna fix that.
Warning though: Spoilers. There is nothing about this relationship that won’t spoil the plot. The beginning of their relationship essentially drive plot forward in many ways. So… :) happy reading. Reminder that yes Jiang Cheng is a demonic cultivator in this.
Snow came early this year. Stretching north west from Yunmeng, the mild winters of the river lands gave away to Qishan’s mountains and its harsh storms.
The villages in the border region between the two sect’s juridical territories were on average poor, too out of reach of Lotus Pier or Nevernight for either clan to claim responsibility. The people got by on small scale farming, mostly for sustenance, but some families hunted game meat too, to be cured and kept over the long harsh months when the land yielded no more grains or greens.
Yet by the first snow fall, most hunters had already packed up their gears and headed home for new years. Their cabins, littering the mountain range stretching some several hundred li from southeast to northwest, would be locked up and abandoned until spring.
A perfect place for a clandestine meeting.

okay I'm not a fan of the whole "JC gets pegged by WQ because feminism, am I right ladies?" thing that fandom goes wild about, for a number of reasons, BUT
I would love JC and WQ in a Love and Leashes style arrangement. JC who totally doesn't have a mommy kink, why the hell would you say that?, wanting to be smacked around by his very competent but uptight and kinda scary coworker WQ. WQ, who definitely isn't upset by the fact that she can't seem to get a promotion because her dumbass boss doesn't like her and she doesn't really get along with her teammates because they don't do things right and why the hell is the new guy always staring at her anyway?!
Do you see my vision? Do you get it? This is the only BDSM type arrangement I want for these two, okay? If you're gonna go for it, I need you to COMMIT. Fully invest!

a while ago i made a post abt chengqing not being really relevant post timeskip and ppl were talking in the tags abt wen ning bringing it up during the core reveal and like. i Get why they say it and yeah that would have been terrible for jc (and thus great for angst) but i do think the fact that absolutely no one knows abt chengqing is important to the ship and the tragedy of it. like they had this thing between them that could never really be anything more and that only existed between the two of them and that's exactly what gave them whatever futile hope they had it was a possibility. it was why jiang cheng gave her the comb and why wen qing took it. but it was also why, inevitably, she gave it back. they never really had a chance, but so long as it was just them and this thing between them, they could pretend.
i do also think it would be good drama and angst for wen ning to find out abt it after Everything. like wen qing was his older sister who always looked after him and took care of him, she would do anything for him, she was the best person he knew. and there was this secret that she kept all to herself. like it isn't just about her keeping something from him, i'm sure he's aware that she kept things from him in an effort to protect him, it's abt how this secret hid her desire for something else, for some life other than the one she had, for a possibility she would never be able to pursue. this wasn't just about protecting wen ning or the other members of their family, this was about wen qing and what she wanted and hoped for and ultimately gave up.

[read it on ao3]
The phone in Wen Qing’s hands feels too warm compared to the coldness of her hands, her mouth pressed into a fine line as she stares straight ahead. She should have called Jiang Yanli, but she liked Jiang Yanli, she liked her too much to tell her what had happened. Let Wei Ying tell her that Jiang Cheng had gotten into an accident on that stupid motorcycle of his, he was smart, he would figure it out.
He would forgive Wen Qing for it eventually.
A sniffle leaves her before Wen Qing can stop it, and she reaches up and scrubs at her face with the back of her hand, regardless of whether or not there was actually anything rolling down her cheek. “Fucking brat.” She murmurs to Jiang Cheng, he’d be moved to a room as soon as he got out of surgery, she wouldn’t leave until then.
