hard to say (2002)

I completely forgot how to draw… I honestly don’t know why I can’t bring myself to draw regularly these last few years. It’s like a minor inconvenience happens and I extend my art break for another 3 months... Oh yeah, I was working on a pretty ambitious Mariah piece that I just gave up on lol

Lately I’ve been feeling nostalgic for the early 2000s so I was watching old mvs. Kuri-chan’s the ones I binge the most ∩^ω^∩ This song might be my favorite of hers right now.

I keep wanting to go back in time. Mostly because I’m sad an old mcyt I used to watch finished his mc series. I think it’ll also be his last video playing the game. I was so heartbroken it felt like I’m slowly losing in touch with my inner child. I cried after finishing the video…

On that note, I think I’ll go further back and do fanart of another series I’ve been intrigued by—MTV’s downtown. I wanna draw Serena! I’ll have to change my art style to be more cartoonish or something. I think my current one looks a bit disjointed from the eras I want to portray…

Not quite a human, even less than that a woman.

I keep thinking about her.  She spent her days serving evil men in a castle... Death was the sweetest release she’s felt after such a cruel fate. There’s been speculation on whether Daniella is a homunculus or human. She keeps alluding to the former by saying she was “created” but I’d like to think it’s still up to interpretation. What if she was just a normal girl before her life was taken from her when they kidnapped her and turned her into a mindless servant... Or that if she’s a homunculus, being made with azoth (the essence of life) is ironic given that she was infertile. Thus not being able to contain azoth within her. She was made to be “The Perfect Woman”, adding insult to injury.

I think I’ve said too much but I guess I really resonate with her story haskjhskjhg Also I just think she’s neat :3 I watched so many video essays, the only thing left to do for me is to play it. Hopefully I can emulate it...?

I was trying to capture a colored pencil look so I downloaded these. I might never truly be able to capture the unique look of traditional art digitally though I’ll still keep trying.

I finished before 12 am... I’m genuinely surprised :o I hope this means I’m getting faster.

I keep drawing pretty girls from video games I’m currently obsessing over, but I’ve been meaning to draw Rule of Rose fanart for a while now. Diana is so pretty even if she’s a psycho... Next girl is gonna be from Haunting Ground if I don’t get distracted again.

I mostly used the gouache brushes to color this one, but I soften them with watercolor. Like for the face, I don’t like using harsh colors so I use just watercolor instead. I find myself using a custom ballpoint pen to do line work too.

Sometimes when I watch at my speedpaint gifs it makes me realize I like the lineart more. I’m really not good at coloring but I’m trying my best...

Late post because I got sick :p I'm still recovering but I stayed up to finish this cause it’s been too long. It was supposed to include Levi but... I don’t like how I drew him lol I’ll redraw them soon...

I don’t know what to do with the lighting so it looks weird. I was having trouble with the hair at first which is part of why I took so long but it’s because I stubbornly don’t look at much references. So I downloaded some guide pictures on drawing curls and I think I did great :D

Lili was announced for Tekken 8!

I’m so happy to see her new model. I think she looked... not her best in 7. The new outfit is so cute too! I was even more delighted to learn it’s designed by Jasmin Darnell!

I put a new signature again... I’ve had 4 so far lmao it looks like I’m stealing my own art. But I kinda get impostor syndrome when I have to put a watermark on my drawings. I don’t like seeing my name on them but I haven’t thought of a really cool artist name I wanna go by. I know I could just... not put one but I still feel the need to. It gives a sense of finality. 

I used new brushes to color this one. It’s the wet ink blot and dry ink brushes. I think they’re default on csp but I also downloaded a custom g pen here for the lineart!

Late post... this was done weeks ago but my wifi was bugging so I forgot about this o3o

I was really frustrated starting this because I was planning a bigger piece that’s inspired by the Mikumo figure but I just couldn’t get it quite right. I scrapped it and just settled for this half body shot. Being ambitious right after getting out of an art block is just gonna send me right back into it. So, I’ll be sticking to the rivers and the lakes that I’m used to for my next works.

Currently. I’m reading Lolita which may or may not have motivated me more to finish this after I realized the book and song have the same themes. If you don’t know, the song is Romeo and Cinderella by Hatsune Miku!

My back hurts while writing this. I’ve decided to go back to an art noveau style. It takes so long to draw for me but I think I’ll come to love it.  I happen to like the thin lines and ornate detailing in this style. Semirealism is nice but only for practice.

Clip Studio Paint’s text tool is... laughably bad. I shouldn’t have to feel threatened to use Photoshop just to add text.

Also, my first official art of the year? *cheering and fanfare* So I thought of signing this one instead of just adding in a watermark. Hopefully I don’t disappear for another 6 months again. I want to draw more.

2 in a month! There must be something in the air this September. I did that blur effect I see in some digital art. Does it work? Maybe I should dial it down next time. I’m testing new waters with this art style so I’m still figuring things out. Also, new watermark! So yay for that :p

I’m gonna start posting speedpaint gifs instead of WIP screenshots. I think those would just clutter my blog to be honest. The gif looks wonky because I had to resize it to 2mb. Tumblr won’t let me post the 8mb one under the cut, wtf?

New OC debut! Her name is Dahlia. I’ll get around to making an actual character sheet for her but seeing how this took me 2 months, I’ll probably wait til February or whenever my new pen nibs come in :p Also new art for the new year!
