At this point I have seen several people say that Agamemnon is a more sympathetic character than Achilles. Not only that it's their personal opinion, but that there's enough textual evidence in the Iliad itself to support that.

I am genuinely baffled by this.

I have read the Iliad many times, in several different translations, and never once was I led to believe this. In fact, I've always thought the opposite: that regardless of personal feelings or opinions, the work itself presents Achilles in a way more favourable light than Agamemnon.

I don't want to reply to OP posts directly because it may feel like I'm challenging them, but if someone has the time/willingness, can you please explain to me where exactly in the Iliad is Agamemnon portrayed as more sympathetic than Achilles, or where he is shown to have the moral highground? Like what's the "textual evidence" everyone keeps talking about? I promise I won't bite your head off lol I just want someone to explain this to me like I'm five.
