Attending a prestigious university near your hometown, you live alone in your mansion by the vacant, serene seaside. You spend your extra free time playing video games to distract the raging waves of your loneliness.
Your life hadn't been smooth sailing for the majority of your childhood, and now, you could finally thrive, peacefully.
However, when you arrived back home after another morning of classes, the normal comfort of your home was replaced with a cold-tense feeling that flagged every warning sign in your body.
So when a muscular arm held a cold-translucent spear up to your neck when you moved to exit, you slowly turned your head to look at your captor, ignoring the sting from where the water blade was beginning to draw blood.
A shiver ran down your spine when you caught a glimpse of bright ginger locks and ocean-blue eyes.
Now, you had a reason to be scared

โง.*Thank you for reading my Childe x Female reader! Update times aren't confirmed, as I run on a schedule of when I can update. Please keep in mind that I'm currently in high-school and have many classes a day. One could even say I spend more time at school than I do at home. I am very busy and that's not even including what I have to to outside of school. Not to mention if I get sick, or my mental health. (I do have depression.) Alsoโplease don't ask for updates, in a rude way, of course. I don't mind if you only ask once, as I will give you an answer anyway.ย
โง.*I do not own Childe, or any other Genshin Impact characters included in this story. They belong to Mihoyo. Any of the art used in this story isn't mine unless I specifically state otherwise.
โง.*Trigger warnings will be provided at the beginning of each chapter. Including lime. I'm not so sure if I'll be writing lemon yet, but we'll see.
โง.*The reader in this story is female, or what you would call afab, and uses the pronouns She/Her and They/Them. If this doesn't apply to you, I apologize. As a Demi-girl, I feel more comfortable writing a female protagonist.

Dust arose from the old book you opened, the pages were fragile from many years of wear and tear.ย
You borrowed it from your family's overly large library, which looked like it belonged in a rustic castle, not a mansion located on a cliff near the sea.
Running your fingers over the decrepit pages, your eyes followed the faded words one by one.
"ฮคฮฟ ฮผฮญฮปฮปฮฟฮฝ," The title read.ย
Despite only being 10, you were far more intelligent than most children your age.
You knew a few different languages and took multiple advanced classes in school.ย
Though your family still didn't think you were good enough.
A frown spread across your face at the thought, the rainbow shimmer inside of your (e/c) irises, which your family also thought was odd, grew slightly cloudy.
Shaking your head to dismiss the looming sadness crowding your head, you looked at the title on the dusty book closer.
From what you could tell, the words read, "The Future," but in Greek.
Flipping through the pages, you skimmed over the sentences, seeing nothing interesting, until a certain tragedy plastered onto the top of a page caught your attention.
"The flood?"
Pressing the book harder onto the table, you leaned in closer, analyzing every word inked onto the paper.
Around 9 years ago, a disastrous flood wiped out a majority of the town you lived around 40 minutes away from.
Buildings were damaged, some almost beyond repair, and many families moved to get away from the aftermath. Others, however, weren't so lucky.
Nowadays, a town like yours, next to a large beach with white sands and crystal blue water, would be bursting at the seams with people and greedy contractors trying to sell out the locals.ย
But the flood prevented that from happening.
And now, only locals remained in the now-rebuilt beach town, which looks almost brand new.
A major part of you was thankful for nature protecting your little slice of paradise from those who didn't belong.
The words on the pages described what happened during the flood in great detail, and the more you read, the more disturbed you became.
This book had to be multiple decades old, so why did it describe the tragedy so perfectly?
Lost in the rapid currents of your thoughts, the familiar sound of stilettos clicking against wooden floors startled you out of your daze.
You jumped and almost fell from the latter you were leaning against.
Jumping down from the latter, and almost twisting your ankle, you opened a random drawer at the bottom of the bookcase and shoved the book in it.
The large door to the library opened with a creak, as the sound of heels against the floor ceased.
"What are you up to?"
You turned around quickly, a guilty smile plastered on your face.
"Nothing Motherโ I was just looking for a new book to read..." A worn-out sigh left your mouth, as your hands moved to brush the dust off of the expensive material of your dress.
She raised an eyebrow, a sour look overtaking her face. "Mhm. If only all that reading you've done would help with your studies." Your mother placed her hand on her hip, tapping her sleek-black stiletto against the wooden flooring.
You frown, feeling yourself lose patience. "Is there something you need?"
"It's Ma'am to you. And yes, there is. Your father is hosting a party with his colleagues and I don't need you looking trashy in front of business." She walks up to you as you back up into the bookshelf, cowering as you feel a manicured nail press against your shoulder.
"I've commissioned a designer dress for you, it's hanging in your room. All you have to do is to sit still and look pretty.ย Don't mess up."
Your frown deepens. "Yes Ma'am..."
She looks you up and down, the sour look remaining. "Good. Don't disappoint our family name."
Flipping her hair, your mother removed her nail from your shoulder, a crescent mark evidence of her anger, and walked away, not bothering to shut the door as her quieting footsteps furthered away.ย
Sliding down onto the floor, you sighed, your silk dress draping around you and flowering onto the floor.ย
"What I'd give for peace."
๐ผ๐ขึดึดเป๐๐หโฉเฟเฟหห๐ขึดโงห
After some time on the floor to regain your bearings, you dragged yourself up, exiting the library and walking up a flight of stairs to your room.
Despite your parents' coldness toward you, your room was beautiful and made you feel at peace every time you were in it.
Your bed sat at the bottom of your room, and a spiral staircase led to a second floor where your vanity among other things was.
A dull murmur left your mouth, as you opened the door to your large walk-in closet and flipped the light on, your eyes landing on the dress that lay on your closet's island.
Stepping closer, light and almost unsure, you admired the dress, eyes twinkling at the pretty fabric.
Even if you felt bitter towards your parents, you couldn't deny their obvious talent in fashion.ย
Against the light from your closet, the shimmery silver fabric or the gown sparkled, along with the light tint of (f/c) covering the material. The top of the dress fit a modest sweetheart neckline where the sparkly fabric was crossed over the other, with off-the-shoulder sleeves that draped off the shoulders from the excess material. A dark silver belt wrapped around the waist.
Smiling brightly, you picked up the dress and twirled around, an energetic giggle leaving your mouth.
"Maybe today won't be so bad after all."
Setting down the sparkling gown, you pulled the zipper down on the dress you were currently wearing and pulled it over your head, tossing it onto the floor to focus your attention on your new dress.
You patted down your petticoat and turned toward your attention to the gown lying on your island, carefully undoing the zipper.
With barely concealed excitement, you slipped the gown over your head, putting your arms through the sleeves and fixing the dress over your petticoat.ย
Your breath halted as you slowly walked over to the large mirror at the end of your closet.
The dress fit you perfectly and shimmered every time the light hit it, resembling a diamond in the sunlight.ย
A wide grin spread across your face as you clumsily stumbled out of your closet, leaving the door open and the lights on, and dangerously rushing up the spiral staircase in your room.ย
You approached your vanity and plopped down in the chair in front of it, opening one of the drawers and grabbing a few makeup products out of it.ย
A lopsided attempt at doing your makeup, you noticed, groaning and rubbing more eyeshadow onto your eyelid in an attempt to fix your mistakes.ย
Though you were better at most of your age makeup, you still had a lot to learn.
A knock on your door startled you out of what you were doing, and you almost dropped the brush in your hand.ย
Your eyes widened and you placed the brush back onto your vanity, almost falling out of your chair. "--Coming!"
Shifting came from behind the door as the knock increased in volume. "Ms. (Name)? Are you alright?"ย
The voice coming from the hallway caused you to sigh in relief.ย
Untangling your leg from the chair, (a result of not paying attention to your surroundings,) you walked over to your staircase and carefully, this time, walked down to your door.ย
You grabbed the door handle and opened the door, coming face to face with your maid, Arabella.
"I'm fine Ariโwhat's with that face?"ย
She stared at you with wide eyes, before her face twisted in a way that made her look like she was in pain.ย
Covering her mouth with her palm, she averted her eyes, attempting to not laugh at your predicament.ย
"Arabella?"
Arabella shook her head and calmed herself down, sighing and stepping toward you, placing a hand on your shoulder in sympathy. "Ms. (Name)...while I don't doubt your talents for a moment, I do believe you need some help with your makeup."
Now it was your turn to stand there fish-eyed.ย
Bashfully, the floorboards seemed most interesting as you looked at the floor, nodding in embarrassment.
She smiled at you and grabbed your hand, leading you up the stairs and guiding you to sit in front of your vanity.ย
"I'm guessing you favor a certain color, hm?"
Recovering from your embarrassment, you nodded, grabbing one of your many eyeshadow pallets and opening it to point at your favorite color.ย
"What a wonderful choice. This color suits your complexion."
Arabella grabbed a makeup wipe and held your chin as she wiped your makeup off in a gentle manner.ย
"Nowโlet's start fresh."
Grabbing a brush, Arabella began to lightly apply makeup to your face.
You hummed in pleasure at the soft motion, feeling yourself becoming sleepy. Who knew getting your makeup done could be so relaxing?
With a swift hand movement, Arabella applied a small amount of eyeliner over the shimmery eyeshadow you were wearing and then spun your chair around to face the mirror of your vanity.
"You can open your eyes now Ms. (Name)."
Peeking your eyes open, you grinned widely, beaming at the beautiful art on your face.ย
Arabella noticed your silence and began to worry. "Do you like it? I can redo it if you don'tโ"
"I love it!"
You rushed and engulfed her in an energetic hug.ย
She stumbled in shock before laughing and hugging your back, patting your head. "Now Ms. (Name). Let's not mess up your makeup just yet."
A huff left your mouth as you snickered, "Alright," you paused and let go of Arabella before smirking, "By the way, you can just call (Name)."
Arabella gaped before shaking her head. "Ma'amโ"
"I see you as a friend. There's no need for formalities."ย
She gave you a warm smile. "Alright then, (Name)."ย
You giggled and she flicked you on the nose, rolling her eyes playfully. "It's almost time for you to greet your family's guests."
The calm expression on your face dampened and you frowned.ย
Arabella noticed your discomfort and gave you a reassuring smile. "You'll do great, I know you will," Reaching into the pocket of her apron, she pulled out a necklace and placed it against your neck," If it helps, I found this on the floor of the library when I was looking for you. When I saw it I immediately thought of you."
You looked down at the necklace and gasped when you saw a beautiful white-gold ring, set with large ruby crystals in the center and adorned with a few navy crystals along the rim. Flipping the ring over, you looked at the band, which had a narwhal carved into the thick part of the back and the letter A carved into the thin part of the band.ย
It sat perfectly on your collarbone, and the weight of the metal felt like it was meant to be there. Not to mention how the ring felt warm against your upper chest, and when you tried to remove it, frigidness would wash over you.
You smiled genuinely at your friend. "Thank you, Ari. For everything."
She pinched your cheek and lightly shoved you towards the door.ย
"Don't mention it." Arabella brushes off your dress and tucks a wild strand of your hair behind your ear. "Break a leg."
The nervous smile on your face shifted into one of confusion. "What?"
"It's an expression. You'll do great anyway, I know it."
Before you could press her even further, she pushed you out of your room and shut the door behind you.ย
A shaky sigh left your mouth and you made your way down the hallway, walking down two flights of stairs and reaching the entrance to the living room.ย
You spotted your mother's authoritarian figure standing in front of the doorway, arm linked with your fathers, who was laughing proudly, raising a glass of whiskey to toast.ย
Slinking quietly toward the entrance, you tried to slip inside to a corner where you wouldn't be noticed, but when your heels made a noise on the floor, your mother's sharp icy blue eyes turned towards you.
She gave you a look and you begrudgingly walked up to stand beside her.
A fierce whisper left her mouth. "You're late."
You gulped, cold sweat began to form as you could feel her free hand wrap around your wrist, her sharp nails threatening to break the skin.ย
"But you didn't say when toโ"
"That's enough. I don't want to hear your excuses. The only thing you can do to atone for your mistakes is sit still and look pretty.ย Got it?"
"Yes, mother.." You nod, tears threatening to ruin your makeup.
"Good."
She released your wrist, but the mark remained, already red and irritated.
Your father had finally finished his speech and looked toward where you were standing. He seemed surprised to see you there but frowned when he saw your watery eyes.ย
He unlinked his arm with your mother and placed a hand on your shoulder, patting it softly.ย
You smiled through your tear-blurry eyes.
Everything would be okay.
๐ผ๐ขึดึดเป๐๐หโฉเฟเฟหห๐ขึดโงห
The party had ended after a few more hours after the tipsy stragglers left.ย
With a renewed pep in your step, you gratefully left the living room, rushing up the stairs to the second floor to run back into the library.
Pushing the door open faster than you usually did, (and with the weight of the door, you'd be sore tomorrow,) you rushed toward the drawer you remember stashing the mysterious book in.ย
Flinging open the drawer, you found the book just where you had left it,
A relieved sigh left your mouth. "Thank goodness."
You pick up the book and stuff it under your petticoat, making sure it won't fall out.
Shutting the drawer, you ran out of the open library, not bothering to look and see if someone was inside the hallway to witness your odd behavior.
Another flight of stairs later and a few confused maids, you had made it back to your room and locked the door.
You sat the book on your nightstand, deciding you'd read more of it after you got some rest.
Quickly taking of your dress along with your other items, you took your makeup off and lunged into your bed, snuggling into the silk covers as you drifted off to sleep.
But, what you didn't realize is that the book had fallen off your nightstand, hitting the floor and opening up to reveal a read and gold mask.

ย โงหยฐส๐ษโก

Alone at an empty cafeteria table sat a young girl with a blank look on her face. On the outside, she looked completely normal, happy, and content. On the inside, she was far from normal.
Normal. A group of normal people, all different but also similar. They shared the same interests, opinions, and emotions. A group of people that stayed together and always found a way back after a fight. The three. The trio had been with each other for many years and were considered family by that point. A young girl named (Y/N), her crush, and her best friend. An inseparable trio. (Not the calamity trio btw lol.)
Despite the years and the unbreakable bond the three had, they always seemed to find a way to separate. Any fight or inconvenience would lead to screaming arguments over the phone or abandonment. In every situation (Y/N) would either be the target or the blame. Panic attacks would come to her often, not allowing her to keep food down, think properly, or move on.ย
She was never able to move on. Too attached to the good memories, pushing away and despising the bad. No matter the number of times her mother would tell her, "You have to be more mature, and don't act on your impulses because of their immaturity. You need to leave them and branch out."
But how could she leave? She cared too much, and it was too late to branch out. By high school, everyone had already formed their groups. Not to mention, the very different options of the people around her. Nervous to try something new, she would always come back.ย
The most recent fight. There was no coming back. The door had been shut, and that same young girl finally didn't care anymore. She felt.., free. Well, for a little while. (Y/N) had other friends, and even if she didn't talk to them as much, she still had some type of comfort. Until she didn't.ย
Accusation after accusation. One she hadn't even known about, which turned out to be true. She didn't even realize what had been done in the first place, as she had no idea and no I'll intentions. All of the comforts she found in those people were gone. Those people slowly drifted away from her, leaving her nothing but an aching heart.
And for the first time, she had thought about doing something she would have never even imagined before. Suicide. When she closed her eyes, she would imagine taking pills from a medicine cabinet or taking a sharp knife from the kitchen. She was suffering in silence, wanting to tell her mother what was going on, for even a sliver of comfort. But she knew better. With how serious those accusations were, she would never hear the end of it.
Living each day in fear. Fear of what she had built for herself crumbling, fear of losing her family's support, fear of losing the one thing that kept her sane, her phone. Ridiculous? I know. The internet provided enough entertainment to drown out her problems and make them disappear for a little while. All those two had to do was say one word, and that word would ruin her.
"Keep moving, keep the facade up, just make it to the summer." It was what she would try and reassure herself, but it was easier said than done.ย
For once she wanted them to feel what she was feeling. The pain, the fear, and betrayal, the disgust. But most of all, she wanted them to move on, as she tried to. To stop talking about her, to ignore her, to not bring her name up. That was her last wish for them.
She envied those who dared to take that step, as she wanted what was happening to end but was scared. Scared of death, scared of saying goodbye, scared of losing.
But.., hadn't she lost from the beginning?

You scrambled to put on your converse, as your mother was rushing you out of the door at 6 am. It was your first day at your new school, and you were nervous. The school-issued uniform didn't fit your style, so you switched it up a bit. (You don't have to wear this, I just made it for the story.)

"Hurry up (Y/N)! I'll be late for work!"
"I know I'm coming!" You threw your backpack over your shoulder, grabbed your other necessities and ran out of your room, not bothering to close the door.
Your mother stood near the front door with her huge purse and a hand on her hip. She looked at you for a second and then smiled.ย
"You seem to be in a good mood. Did you meet anyone yesterday?" She winked at you.
Your face turned red as you recalled yesterday's shenanigans.ย
"Wait-you did?! I was joking, but I can't believe it! I'm so proud of you!"ย
"Nooo..."
Your mother snickered at you. "Alright kid, we have been wasting too much time. We have to go before I'm late."
You walked out the front door and sat in the passenger's seat of the car. Your mother sat in the driver's seat and turned on your favorite song.
"Nothing wrong with jamming out before your first day, right?"
You nodded excitedly, and you and your mother jammed out to music the entire car ride.
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
She stopped in front of the school. Multiple students were chatting and talking to each other.ย 'Oh no..., I'm so not ready for this.'
You looked at your mother as she caressed your cheek reassuringly.
"Don't worry you will do great. This is an amazing opportunity for you to branch out!"
"But what if I don't do great? What if people think I'm weird?"
"Then let them think that because I know the real you. You're strong, smart, creative, beautiful, and best of all, my daughter." She squeezed your cheeks at the last statement.
"Mom..."
"I know, I know. Don't embarrass you in front of other people." She let go of your cheeks and looked down at your necklace for a moment. Her face softened as she sighed and carefully inspected it. A rose quartz necklace, carved into the shape of a rose. She ran her thumb over the smooth curves in the crystal. (This necklace is so pretty, I have it irl, and I love it so much.)

"I miss her so much, mom. It hurts." Your voice cracked as you began to get emotional.ย
She envelopes you in a hug. "I...I miss her to hun, but you have to stay strong, for all of us."
You nod, as she wipes a single tear from your eye.
"I have to go to work now before I'm late."
"Ok, mom. I love you."
"I love you too darling."ย You open the car door and step out. Your mother waved at you and you did the same. She drove off and your smile faded. A voice startled you out of your trance.
"I didn't know a freak moved to this school."
You turned around to see a girl around your height with ginger hair in two braids, wearing a baseball hat backwards.ย
"I'm sorry?"
She rolled her eyes at you. "You aren't from here."
"Uhmm... Is it obvious?.."
"Duh, I'd recognize a weirdo anywhere."
You rubbed the back of your neck awkwardly. She looked you up and down, almost like she was judging you.ย
"Nice necklace, mind if I borrow it?" Without waiting for an answer, the random girl snatched the necklace off your neck.
"Hey! Give it back please!"ย
She smirked at you. "Hmm... I don't know if I should."ย
"Maggie! Give it back!"
You both turned to look at who had interrupted your conversation. Maggie scowled.ย It was Sasha. Your cheeks turned pink.
"What if I don't?" Maggie protested.
"We both know you have too much to lose. You wouldn't want the principal to find out you're bullying a new student, would you? It would suck not being able to come to any of my sweet house parties."
"But- I"
Sasha shook her head with a smirk.ย
"Fine! This necklace is lame anyway." Maggie shoved the necklace back into your hands and walked away.ย
Sasha smiled and walked up to you. "Sorry about her, she thinks she can pick on anyone."
"It's fine, it was my fault anyway."
She seemed slightly bothered by your ability to take the blame for something that wasn't your fault. Sasha noticed you messing with the chain of your necklace, and took the necklace from your hands.ย You looked at her confused until you felt her putting it around your neck.
"It looks good on you (Y/N)."
You smiled at her. "Thanks."
Sasha turned away to hide her blush. "Since you're new here, why don't you stick with me and my group? Well make sure no one else picks on you."ย
"Sure, I don't see why not."
"I'll introduce you to them." She grabbed your wrist and you followed her into the school. You reached the gym and you followed her under the bleachers. (I have zero ideas where the trio hangs out lol)
Two other girls were standing under there. Your jaw dropped at the sudden realization.ย 'Holy-'
"Girls, I'm back. You remember the new friend I was talking about?"ย
Anne and Marcy looked up at Sasha, as she pulled you out from behind her. "Here she is. Her name is (Y/N). (Y/N), these are my friends, Anne and Marcy."
The two froze as they looked at you.ย
"(Y/N)?" Anne spoke up.
"Hey.."
Marcy blurted out, "Wait!-You go to this school too?"
You giggled. "Yeah, I just moved here."
"I assume you two have met (Y/N) before?" Sasha asked.
"Mhm. Yesterday." Anne replied and Marcy nodded.
"Okay cool." Sasha shrugged and leaned against you.
The three surrounded you and made conversation. Marcy showed you some of her games, Anne showed you some cheesy, teen crush magazines, and Sasha showed you clothes she thought would look good on you.ย
'Maybe moving wasn't such a bad idea after all.'
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
You stayed and talked under the bleachers with the three until the bell for class rang. You walked to your first class and took a seat, which was dreadfully dull. Sometime later, you stood in the hallway between class changes and felt a tap on your shoulder. You turned around and saw Sasha for a second time.ย
"Oh hey, Sasha. Do you need something?"
"Anne and Marcy are coming to my house after school, and we wanted to ask if you want to come over." Her eyes drifted to your lips, then back up to your eyes.ย
You were surprised at the sudden invitation and blushed. "I would love to!"
"Awesome. I'll see you there, cutie." Sasha then winked at you with a smirk and walked away. You were considerably as red as a tomato.ย
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
After class, you made your way to the library. It was a decent size, despite this public school being a downgrade from your previous one. You went straight to the fantasy section and scanned the books.ย
'I've already read most of these.'
Maybe the library was smaller than you originally thought. While busying yourself with fantasy books, a section hidden in the corner of the library caught your eye. Out of curiosity, you made your way over there.ย
A book suddenly fell from the bookcase, spooking you. It had a warm yellow cover, with elegant gold accents.ย 'Woah. This book looks old.'
You picked it up and dusted it off. A large star was on the front of the cover, it looked like a crystal. It sent a chill down your spine. You picked it up and sat down in one of the beanbags on the other side of the room.
You flipped through the pages, only to find words in an unknown language. Strange symbols and images were on all of the pages. The most noticeable page was in the middle. What made it stand out from every other page was how the page was gold, instead of the regular brown color, and had a huge image of the sun brightly shining down on hundreds of figures, bowing down to the sun's glory. All words on this page were in an unknown language, except for one section.ย
This section read,ย
"The glorious sun, shining bright for the entire solar system to witness.ย
Blinding all with its beauty, but burning those who dare to get too close.ย
The sun is a star. This star who will deliver us, and protect us from hidden evils unawakened.ย
The fourth of the three points to the highest level. Mending and healing what is broken.
Oh glorious sun, shining in even the darkest moments. The greatest sorrow will not dim your shine. As your radiance will bring light into the darkness.ย
But beware. To use this power too great, could put an end to the light. Never fly too close to the sun, unless you're willing to burn."
'Wow. That was...deep.'
You didn't understand the poem but decided it was too interesting to put down. A shifting noise pulled you out of your daydream. A person had sat in the bean bag across from you, so sucked into the book they were reading, they didn't even notice you sitting there. You grinned at who it was.
Marcy was reading a book you had read before. A book full of unexpected twists and turns, and was about halfway through it.ย 'Just wait until the main character dies.'ย
Her eyes widened and you giggled. She looked up to see who laughed. "What? Why are you laughing?"
"Oh, I've just read that book before, and the same thing got me too."
She smiled at you. "Please don't spoil it for me though."
"Don't worry, I wouldn't do something like that. I hate it when people do that to me." You smiled at her.ย
Marcy blushed and turned to the next page. You got up and sat right next to her, and then proceeded to lean on her shoulder. She looked like she was about to explode from embarrassment.
'Cute.'
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
It was finally time to go home, and you were super excited to go to Sasha's house. 'I'm so excited to go to someone's house. Maybe we'll play truth or dare, prank little kids on Roblox through adopt me, or maybe even play spin the bottle-.'
You shook those thoughts out of your head as a blush began to rise to your cheeks. Your mom arrived to pick you up. You got in the car and looked at her.
"Hey mom.., I know this is late notice, but I made a friend at school and I want to go to their house."
Her eyes widened as she suddenly hit the brakes. You jolted and let out a small scream.
"You were invited to someone's house?!"
You nodded at her excitement. "Yes, her name is Sasha Waybright."
Your mother grinned and made teasing noises. You blushed and covered your face.ย
"Oooh, you made a new friend and she's a girl?" She grinned at you.ย
"We're just friends mom."
"Okay then, whatever you say." She began to drive again and took you home. You needed to pack a few things before you go to Sasha's house.ย
You grabbed some necessities, a change of clothes, and other things and stuffed them in a small kuromi bag. (I adore kuromi so much, Live Laugh Love Kuromi)
You threw your bag over your shoulder and went downstairs.ย
"Okay mom, I'm going to Sasha's house now."
She looked up at you from the counter in the kitchen.ย
"Alright! Have fun dear! Don't stay out too late!"
"Okay mom, love you."
You walked over to Sasha's house following the address she texted you. You knocked on the door, and Sasha opened it.ย
"Hey cutie, I'm glad you came."
You smiled at her.ย
"Come on inside, Anne and Marcy aren't here yet, but they will arrive soon."
She opened the door wider to let you in and then closed it behind you.
"Follow me."
You followed her up the stairs into her room. It was fairly big and clean.ย
"Nice room."
"Thanks, you can set your bag down if you want. I'll be right back, I'm gonna go get something."
You nodded as Sasha walked back downstairs. 'I should change out of my school uniform.'
You walked into the bathroom inside of her room and changed into some lounge shorts that showed off almost your entire thighs, and an oversized crop top that fell off your shoulder slightly and had astrology designs on it. You put your school clothes back in your bag and sat down.
"Ok, I'm back-."
Sasha walked back into the room and almost had a heart attack when she saw what you were wearing. Despite being oversized lounge clothes, they still showed off your features, and Sasha couldn't help but stare.ย
"Oh hey, Sasha-...Are you ok?"
Her face was red and she looked away respectfully. You stood up to her about to ask what the matter was, and Sasha stood forward, only to trip and fall on you. Luckily, you caught her and your hands were resting on her waist. Your lips were seconds away from touching and you both stumbled back immediately.ย
"Ah- I'm sorry." She scrambled for words.
"It's fine." You looked away flustered.
You wished you would've kissed.ย

As your unfortunate luck would have it, your mother decided to surprise you with a move to California. All of your previous friends ditched you because of fake rumours, making you wonder, were they even your friends at all? As much as you pretended you didn't care, you always knew you would. The feelings of sadness, betrayal, anger and hurt always linger in your mind. So you decided it was best to move to a different state for a better start. After all, it's what your sister would have wanted. However, it seems your unluckiness couldn't get enough. Because maybe you were unlucky enough to get trapped in another world through a music box stolen from a thrift store. But someone can't possibly be that unlucky?โฆ Right?

A soft golden light began to fill in through the windows of the car you were sleeping in, casting a warm glow on your face as the sun rose into the sky, creating a beautiful painting of colors. The coastal air was warm and salty and provided a nice breeze. Morning dew shimmered off the blades of grass as it was early in the morning.ย
Your mother had recently decided to move to California, a decision you did not understand. Part of you still wanted to hang on to the place you grew up in, even with the bad memories. It was 6 am because your mom had decided it would be best to leave early. She had been driving throughout the entire night. You rubbed your eyes and took in your surroundings. Large buildings and traffic,ย 'how wonderful.'ย The voice of your mother regains your focus.ย
"Did you sleep well, darling?", she asks.
You nodded in response to her question. Mornings never came easy for you, as you enjoyed your rest, not to mention how you had to take melatonin to fall asleep. However, a sudden jerk in traffic startles you awake and causes your mother to laugh, as you roll your eyes in annoyance.ย
"Is the traffic always this bad here?" You ask as your mother turns down a different road.
She chuckles at your irritation and nods. "If we are lucky, the traffic won't be as bad in this neighborhood."
Your mother had always had a sense of style and reassurance to her. A kind of reassurance that makes you feel warm and safe. She would always wear simple yet elegant clothes, usually matched with small pearl earrings and a sleek pair of heels. Your mother would wear light floral perfume, unlike the heavy axe body spray that the musty boys at the school would wear. On the other hand, you dressed differently. You had three piercings each on both ears, multiple necklaces, and trendy clothes. Despite having a completely different style than your mom, she still loved you entirely.ย
A very large house came into view as your mother pulled up the driveway. Yet your blank expression stayed the same. For as long as you can remember, your family has had decent money. You had nice clothes, a nice house, a nice car, and loads of other nice things that aren't necessary for survival, and you were beyond grateful. Empty boxes were stacked outside near the trash can, as you were informed everything has already been unpacked. When the car came to a stop, you grabbed all of your belongings and rushed inside the front door and up the stairs, almost dropping everything in the process. Your room was huge and had anything you could have wanted. (You can imagine your room however you'd like) You set all of your things down and begin rearranging some of your stuff. Footsteps sounded and you turned to see your mother standing in your doorway.ย
"Do you like your new room? It's an upgrade compared to the last one you had."
"Yes! It's awesome!", your voice sounding with ย enthusiasm.
Your mother smiled warmly at you and approached you to envelop you in a hug. Before you could hug back, she let go and ruffled your hair. You frowned slightly.ย
"I have to go to work already, and I won't be home until later tonight, so feel free to go and explore the different shops and stores, but make sure to stay safe and keep your phone on at all times."
A completely new city full of different people. The thought made you nervous. Your mom seemed to notice your nervousness, because she added, "Don't feel like you have to go out and look around. It was just a suggestion. But I do think it would be a good opportunity to make some new friends and familiarize yourself with the city."
You beamed at her as she kissed you on the forehead. "I love you, mom." She smiled back at you and responded, "I love you too, sweetheart." She turned around and made her way downstairs, her heels making noises each time she walked. You walked over to the entrance of your room and leaned on the doorframe, watching your mother leave.ย
She looked up at you from downstairs, "If you decide to go outside don't stay out too late, and if I call you, respond!", she paused, "If there's something you need I'm only a phone call away!"
You replied with a happy grin, "I understand mom."ย
The door closed as your mother left for her new job. The house was quiet and peaceful, and you looked at the clock. An idea popped into your head.ย 'Why don't I explore some of the shops around town? She didn't say where I could go, and a little fun won't hurt.'ย With a smirk, you turned around and opened the closet. You chose a cute outfit paired with converse. (Can be any outfit you want to wear.)
You twirled around a bit and then grabbed your purse as you pulled your phone out. The sun was up already, signaling the official beginning of the day.ย 'Where should I go? After all, this is my first time being in California.'ย Your stomach rumbled, distracting you from your previous thoughts. You pulled up nearby food places on google and scrolled through the restaurants. A restaurant named "Thai Go'' caught your attention.ย 'Hmmm... I've never had Thai food before, and it's not too far away.'ย You thought for a second before making a decision and heading downstairs.
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
You walked on the sidewalk next to the streets in my neighborhood. 'Not much further until I arrive.' The buildings in California were large and took time to get used to. After a few more minutes of walking, you arrived at your destination. You pushed the door open and walked inside.ย
A beautiful girl emerged from the back. She looked around your age and had soft, curly brown hair, tanned skin, long eyelashes, and hazel eyes. You froze for a second as your cheeks turned red.ย 'She's gorgeous...Lord have mercy I'm gay as hell.'ย
"Hi! How may I help you?"
You snapped out of the trance you were in and smiled warmly at her as you placed your order. The girl behind the counter nodded and went into the back again. You turned around and sat down at one of the tables and pulled your phone out. A few minutes pass and the pretty girl comes back out with a to-go bag and hands it to you.ย
"Here's your food-", she pauses then speaks up again, "Hey, you go to Saint James?" The pretty girl points at the pin on your bag. You look down at your bag for a second before looking back up at her.
"Oh- Yeah, I just moved here not too long ago actually."ย
"Nice! I go to Saint James too, it's not too bad of a school." She smiles at you.ย 'So pretty..'
A voice from the back interrupts your conversation, "Anne!"ย
'She even has a pretty name..'ย The girl in front of you looks up and yells back. "In a second mom! I'm talking to someone!"
The voice yells again, "We have work to do! You can socialize later!"
Anne lets out a sigh and turns back to you. "I have to get back to work. Maybe I'll see you at school."
You nod, "It was nice meeting you, Anne."ย
"Oh, by the way, I don't think I ever got your name?"
"It's (Y/N)." You said as you flashed a sweet smile at her. You swore you saw her cheeks turn pink.ย
You turned around and walked out the door. A yellow piece of paper attached to the side of the bag caught your eye. It had a phone number and a cute note written on it. ('Maybe we'll see each other at school? โค๏ธ -Anne') Your heart races as your cheeks return to their previous red state.ย
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
After sitting on a bench beside the sidewalk and eating your food, you decided to look at the different stores around town. While walking down the sidewalk, you got distracted and weren't paying attention, and ran straight into someone.ย
You both fell backwards, almost hitting your head during the ordeal. A Nintendo switch landed in your lap, and you recognized the game they were playing. You looked up at them as they were shaken out of their daydreaming. The girl you had run into was also beautiful.ย 'Why am I meeting so many pretty girls today?'ย She had shiny, black hair in a pixie cut, emerald green eyes, tanned skin, and a cute hair clip holding her hair out of her face.ย
"Ah- I'm sorry! I wasn't looking where I was going!" You apologized as you stood up and held your hand out for her to grab. She looked up at you.
"It's fine!! I mean- it was my fault anyway, I got too distracted."ย
She placed her hand in yours, and you pulled her up. As your luck would have it, you almost toppled backwards, seconds away from her falling on top of you. Thankfully, you caught yourself and prevented another accident from happening. The girl was still holding onto you and now partially leaning on you after you almost fell over. You both made eye contact for a split second before you separated.ย
"Ack-! I'm sorry!" She blushed and launched herself backwards, slightly covering her face in embarrassment.ย
You realized what had just happened, and your face turned red.ย 'I'm being tested today. Two pretty girls in a row?'
You shook your head bashfully. "It's ok! I should be paying more attention to my surroundings."
Turning your attention back to the Nintendo, which was currently laying on the ground, you picked it up and looked back up at the girl, who was fidgeting with her fingers.
"Hey, I love this game! I play it all the time!"
Upon hearing this, her expression changed completely. She was grinning from ear to ear, so happily you swore she was emitting sparkles.ย 'So adorable!'
"You do?! I've never met anyone who likes this game!"
You nod with a grin and hand the Nintendo back.ย
"That's so cool! I've always wanted to talk to someone about this game, but no one ever listens!" She continued to ramble, but you didn't mind, even though the people passing by gave you strange looks. You giggled at her. The girl in front of you seemed to come back to her senses when realized she was rambling about a video game to a stranger.ย
"Ah- I'm rambling! Sorry!-"ย
You smiled at her reaction. "It's ok! It was cute."
She blushed at your words, almost falling over again while scrambling to grab the rest of her things.ย
You started, "It was nice meeting you.... uh-"
"Clumsy-, I mean-, Marcy! My name is Marcy."
"Nice to meet you, Marcy. I'm (Y/N)."
She smiled and looked away. You walked up to her and gently brushed her hair behind her ear, and placed her green hair clip back in her hair, startling her in the process. She looked you in the eyes.ย
"The color green suits you."
You then turned and walked away, leaving her standing there like a scarecrow. Her face was red.
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
You decided to head to the mall to go shopping, curious about what stores were there. However, you couldn't stop thinking about your previous interactions with Marcy and Anne. Your heart surged with hope and excitement at the idea of having new friends.
On the topic of friends, your mind drifted to the past. After the whole situation with your old friends, of course, you were left heartbroken. You just wanted the people who betrayed you to feel how bad you were hurting. Any little mistake or misunderstanding that happened because of you, they would abandon you without an explanation.ย
This had happened so many times before, yet you were foolish enough to run back to them, hoping maybe things would be different. Hoping that maybe, everything would be ok. But eventually, you realized it never would. For the first time, you didn't care if they weren't your friends, because you had others, Or so you thought. You were naive, dumb maybe, but not stupid.
Rumors had spread to the rest of your friends, then all of a sudden, you were alone. Again. Like the ground had been pulled from under your feet.ย
Your trust had been broken beyond mending. As much as you wanted to deny it, you couldn't. You were afraid. Afraid of what was next, afraid of them, afraid of everything you worked hard to accomplish crumbling. Some nights you'd lay awake, worrying about what would happen next. Some nights you even think about hurting yourself, in an attempt to forget what you were feeling. Even after all of the pain, this still wasn't the worst part.
The thing that hurt the most was them. A person you had known since you were little. Your best friend and your idol. You had fallen in love. Hearing them talk to you made your heart jump and butterflies emerge in your stomach. You could go on and on about the things you loved about them. You even dreamed about the future and the possibility of you two getting married. They were your girlfriend for over 3 years.. until they weren't. And you knew there was no coming back from this.
You were currently in the middle of a store in the mall. Throughout your entire thought process, you were so zoned out you hadn't even noticed the tears running down your face.ย
"Hey-, Are you ok?" A voice startling you out of your trance. You looked up and almost had a heart attack at the beautiful girl standing in front of you.ย 'If I keep meeting pretty girls I'm going to die.'
"Yeah. I'm fine, my eyes are just watering haha.." You looked away from her eyes. She didn't believe your lie. To your surprise, she gently grabbed your chin and forced you to look up at her. Then used her thumb to wipe your tears. You blushed at her sudden actions.ย
"I don't know.., these look like tears to me. Are you sure you're ok?"
You looked into her eyes for a moment. She had long blonde hair tied up in a ponytail, bright cerulean eyes, and long eyelashes.ย 'Good lord, give me strength. All of these interactions are giving me mixed signals.'ย You were currently gay and panicking.
"Yes. I'm fine, just some personal issues. It's not that big of a deal."
She looked at you with concern, her eyes gravitating toward your purse. "You go to Saint James?"
You nodded. "I just moved here not too long ago."
"I figured. I would notice when someone new is at our school."
She let go of your chin and introduced herself. "You're cute, My name is Sasha."
Hearing this you turned as red as a tomato, and the pretty girl laughed at your reaction.ย
"I'm (Y/N)."
"Your name is pretty, just like you."She winked at you.
At this point, you had already become a flustered mess. This seemed to amuse Sasha.
"I'll see you at school (Y/N). Also before you go, here's my phone number, text me sometime." Sasha handed you your phone back, with her phone number already entered.ย 'When did she-?'
As you looked up to ask her when she grabbed your phone, she was already gone.
โงหยฐส๐ษโก
You finally returned home. It was already beginning to turn dark outside. Running up the stairs into your bedroom, you jumped on the bed.ย 'Oh my gosh, oh my gosh, my my gosh-'
Your hands covered your red face as you thought about your day.ย 'I flirted with three pretty girls... On my first day here.'
"Maybe moving here wasn't such a bad idea after all." Smirking at the entire ordeal.
