Ruddy inherited his father's brown hair color, hairstyle and kind personality, and his mother's eye color, eye shape, partial red hair and shy personality. He also wears a pair of glasses and Eevee bag just like his mother.

Ruddy's Japanese name is "Makoto (マコト)" which means "Red (丹)" deriving from Penny's Japanese name "Botan (牡丹)", whereas Korean name is "Dan (단)" which also means "Red (붉을 단 丹)" also deriving from Penny's Korean name "모란 (牡丹).

"Ruddy" means "Red Colored" which matches red color themed name with his Japanese and Korean name. His English name also ends with double non-vowels and the letter "Y" just like his mother "Penny".
