i think one of the things i love about Lanolin is that she's one of the only non-villain characters who doesn't fully buy into Sonic's mythos as a great hero. she isn't willing to look past his flaws because she sees that his refusal to end Eggman once and for all is dangerous. yet she's surrounded by people so blinded by his victories they can't even see that in many ways, he's still putting them in danger.

and the thing is, she is only working with the Restoration the way she is because of him. she used to buy into that mythos too. he inspired her to join The Cause, but after working with him, seeing how he treats danger up close... her opinion of him soured a little. she doesn't believe he's responsible enough to be a hero long-term. she thinks his decision not to end things is going to get people killed. and the wild thing is... she isn't entirely wrong.

that's so fucking juicy. i cannot believe people hate her. it is so rare for characters who aren't evil to have complicated feelings about Sonic as a flawed character. i fucking love it

silver wouldnt cry abt killing a tamagotchi blaze would find him sitting on the curb of the street holding it in his hands looking down and pondering very intensly and she'd ask whats wrong and he'd be quiet for a second then go "blaze... is life really so fragile? is it that easy to lose it? are we all just a few accidents away from withering away and being forgotten?" and she'd go what and he'd say "will i be remembered after i die blaze" and she'd say did you kill your tamagotchi and he'd look into the sky melancholically and say "one of my many mistakes"

"i hope that character you really like gets an uber-popular yaoi ship and you have to watch in real time as they get sanded down into a toothless, barely-recognizable version of themself that's become little more than a vessel for bland tropes and OOC fluff, and that's just the permanent fandom consensus view of that character now." now THAT'S a threat. that cuts right to the bone. that's real. that's happening to me as we speak.
