Ascent Global Logistics Expands in Alaska
Tumblr media
Based in New Jersey, Chris Jamroz leads STG Holdings, in which role he oversees supply chain and logistics operations nationwide. Chris Jamroz also serves as executive chairman of Ascent Global Logistics, which spun off from Roadrunner Transportation Systems and announced a new board of directors in August of 2020. Ascent is known for a technology-driven approach that makes logistics less complex; the company spans international, domestic, and international supply chain management. In November, it expanded its footprint through the acquisition of Hageland Aviation Services. This allowed it to launch Rambler Air, a next-generation provider of commuter flights and cargo and passenger charters. As the CEO of Ascent described it, Rambler Air’s fleet of 10 aircraft benefits from his company’s nearly half century of experience operating USA Jet across the lower 48 states. Mr. Jamroz noted that Alaska is more dependent on air services than states within the lower 48, which presents a compelling business opportunity. Beyond proven safety and reliability, one distinct advantage is a core bid-board air charter technology, which is proprietary and enables an “Arctic On-Demand” approach.

Ascent Global Logistics Enters Alaska Aviation
Tumblr media
Serving as an executive chairman of STG Holdings, LLC, Chris Jamroz is a veteran of the container freight station industry. Overseeing a portfolio of companies in the logistics and supply chain spheres, Chris Jamroz also chairs Ascent Global Logistics, Inc., which is dedicated to custom, simplified solutions spanning international and domestic markets. In November 2020, Ascent announced that it had completed the acquisition of Hageland Aviation Services, LLC, which is based in Alaska. A guiding principle is one of providing pricing visibility across a unified network of passenger and air cargo carriers. With the Hageland acquisition, Ascent is launching Rambler Air, LLC, as a new air service provider. With service beginning in 2021, the Anchorage-based fleet includes a pair of Beechcraft 1900Ds and eight Piper Chieftain Navajo aircraft. As described by Ascent’s president and CEO, Rambler Air builds on successes achieved across the lower 48 states with USA Jet. Over four decades, the latter operation has attained a reputation for reliable, on-time, and safety-focused service.

Guiding a number of associated companies, Chris Jamroz also serves as a director on the board of Roadrunner Transportation Systems. In August 2020, Roadrunner announced the firm’s completion of evolution to a standalone LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier. Among these was the sale of Roadrunner Temperature Controlled Holdings, Inc., to Laurel Oak Capital Partners and Rich Logistics and Integrated Services, Inc., to a strategic purchaser that was undisclosed. The divestitures capped an extended reorganization process that included the March and April 2020, sales of Prime Distribution and Stagecoach respectively; and the November and December 2019, sales of Roadrunner Intermodal Services and Flatbed. As Mr. Jamroz described it, this completed a transformation of Roadrunner Transportation Systems from a “troubled roll-up” to a focused, nationwide provider of LTL (less-than-truckload) carrier solutions.

How Blockchain Can Influence the Shipping and Ports Industry
Tumblr media
As CEO of STG Holdings, Chris Jamroz oversees the management of the company’s many clients. In addition to this position, Chris Jamroz is also the executive chairman of Emergent Cold. As with other industries, logistics is exploring innovative ways to increase efficiency in this expanding industry. One of these strategies is to employ blockchain technology for day-to-day operations. Discussions of blockchain technology are usually about finance, but some of the innovation’s principles can be applied to the shipping and ports industry. Blockchain records all transactions among parties, usually a digital record. The digital record allows businesses to more efficiently track and document each transaction as products are shipped from one place to another. More importantly, the information encrypted in the chain is safe from being tampered with because the one benefit is that blockchain technology prevents anyone from going in and changing information. An added benefit is that blockchain technologies are more time-efficient to use because a person only needs access information on the chain, which can be done quickly. Since all information is recorded on the chain, it negates the need to store paperwork in large warehouses or storerooms. Blockchain technology can also assist businesses with planning. The one issue within the logistics industry is that planning is difficult because so much of transporting items include hypothetical situations that can happen along the journey. Blockchains can help workers generate predictions and manage potential conflicts and other risks.
