With the threat of the Night in the Backstreets looming over the surviving Fixers, the next segment of their evaluation proved to be a test of one’s intuition, quick-thinking, and desperation to survive. So with Merru in front as the guide through the winding streets and alleyways, Kai and Miix keeping pace and stopping anyone from falling out of step with the others, and Prior taking command from the back, the Managers worked in tandem to pull off a miraculous escape to safety. Not a single life was lost in their escape, even when the Managers chose to stand off against the horde of Sweepers descending upon the Backstreets to buy the Fixers more time. It was only thanks to the former K Corp Researcher Yuna’s foresight to set up emergency programming in their drone Pascal to drive the RV that the Managers were able to make their own escape, but any form of survival through the Night in the Backstreets is a victory in and of itself.

But the evaluation was still far from over. The Managers were only allowed a brief period of respite back at the evaluation site before they were each separated and forced through yet another challenge; this time a test of one’s mind as every response, tonal change, and mannerism was noted and graded by a chosen group of counselors.

As this evaluation continues on, it becomes hard to not question what more will be thrown at them all. And with the Qlipoth deterrence system back at their facility still on the verge of disfunction… every second lost is another tick of the clock counting down to their complete and utter failure at the hands of the City.

Swept away by ambition, cornered in an hour of despair, cry as they might, none will hear them above the roaring rapids of the Night in the Backstreet.

The 'so-called' Hana Fixer event turned into a deathtrap - a brutal bloody evaluation testing their capability to survive. Thwarting the game, the Managers now race against a different clock, leading the Fixer swarm through the twisting canals and side streets of V Corp to make it to the Nest in time to seek safety in the hands of the Fixers who have promised them sanctuary if they can survive.

The challenge is unfair, and survival seems all but miniscule.

Yet it is in a Fixer’s nature to succeed. A groveling insect’s as well.

Time will tell which the Managers end up being, in this race to survive.

Project Moon "Absolute Pride Resonance" (APR) Charity event:

The greater PM community of content creators is once again fundraising for the month of June as a Project Moon Pride Month (PMPM if you will).

This year the donations will be raised for OutRight International, a non-profit human rights organisation that was previously known as the International Gay and Lesbian Human Rights Commission.

OutRight is a wide reaching charity that works to address violations of human rights and discrimination against LGBTQ+ individuals. OutRight holds a consultative status with the United Nations' and has several global projects that aim to address various issues.

While I'm not personally affiliated with APR (not really known nor a traditional content creator), I wanted to make sure that it gets as far as it can.

HAPPY PRIDE MONTH FROM YOUR LOCAL LOBOTOMY CORPORATION BRANCH

For so long, Lobotomy Corporation stood - so young to the city and yet so unchallengeable, their dominance was absolute, their superiority assured as they became the city's only provider of the blood that pumped through wires and into the walls of every home and corporate headquarters across every District. How quickly the mighty fall, how fast the faith of a people are shattered. How singular and small can the action be that sets off the end of everything. The Managers, survivors of their mysterious AI Assistant Ange's attempt to bury their facility, return with the supplies their remnant branch need to put food on the table for their hungry clerks, materials to reinforce the containment units, and a Golden Bough which they hoped would help their AI Assistant in her goal to become a true human.

Taking a moment to reflect on their adventures so far, the gathered group split up as quickly as they had come together, back to their corners of the facilities and different responsibilities running each department. Merru and Kai stayed in touch, but otherwise the four were mostly preoccupied with their own business - after all, while they had gone on quite the adventure, nothing could compel them to risk themselves like that again. Or so they thought when Ange returned with the news that the Deterrence system was failing due to these very Golden Boughs being recovered across the city, the Managers had to scramble to capture more of them in the hopes they could be utilized to keep the facility safe, and the Abnormalities they still had contained deep in the bowls of the earth contained.

Bags packed, hearts heavy, the Managers say goodbye yet again to their home, their friends, and one set of responsibilities for another, as they venture back into the cold air of the city, hoping to find a new lead on another Golden Bough and find it before one of the seemingly many factions who seeks them finds it first. If they're lucky, they'll find not a single detour on their way. But this story all begins, like most stories in the city do, with the Managers trying to find a way to survive the cruel apathy of the city - manifesting in the four hours they've been waiting at the border to V Corp's District 22.
