Anti McLaren Rant
Here's your friendly reminder that, in addition to inviting Trump to the garage today (which was confirmed by Kym Illman), McLaren:
Invited Jeremy Hunt, a controversial Conservative UK politician, to their headquarters, and made a whole video about it
their team boss Zak Brown has been very vocal against political statements in F1, making it harder for drivers to speak up about women and minorities in countries where their rights are repressed
make a huge deal about mental health awareness, but treated Daniel so poorly that he had to find a psychologist
I am not surprised at all that they would invite Trump to their garage.

I also hope all the McLaren fans that piled on DR for his completely reasonable comments about the Horner situation have the WORST day. Your team boss invited a literal fascist who is anti-woman, anti-LGBT+, anti-BIPOC, anti-decency to a Grand Prix. And remember, based on YOUR logic, if you support McLaren, you support all of that, too. ✌🏻

Carlos Sainz had 3.3% chance of winning both Singapore and Melbourne. Here's why:
Tumblr media
So I was in a silly goofy mood (as in fuming because I decided to sleep instead of watching the GP, thinking "ah yes Max will just win again", like an idiot) and I've started wondering what are the odds of Max ONLY having issues with the car when Carlos is front row (and ahead of charles in quali). So I've gathered my three braincells together and calculated it - around 3.3%. This is absolutely WILD. Obviously I'm not downplaying Carlos's ability to deliver when the opportunity arises HOWEVER I think it's nice to point out just how unlucky Charles is lol.
As to where the hell I pulled this number from - I've calculated it based on last 11 races (since Singapore 23), in the span of which Carlos outqualified Charles twice (leading to his two wins) and Max also had technical issues twice. (This realization actually prompted me to calculate it, because "what are the odds???", right?) Basically I checked how likely it is for two events of probability 18,(18)% (both Max having issues and Carlos outqualifying Charles - 2/11) to occur simultaneously, which I did by multiplying the numbers and BOOM 3.3%. (For this stat to work, we need to pretend that the rest of the grid doesn't exist and it's just between the ferraris, so just keep that in mind). I'd like to add that I'm absolutely no expert in maths so I COULD BE WRONG - if someone has a better idea how to count this, hit me up.
Tumblr media
Also, data from 11 races is veeeeery scarce, so it's more of a "Look - that's an interesting stat" post, rather than anything else.
And on a different note-
3.3%? -> 33??? Hello??? Max Verstappen are you there???
So yeah, Charles continues to be the unluckiest ever [relatable]. If you flip the number around, he had 96.7% chance of winning at least one of the two races when redbull wasn't as strong as always.

I've been thinking long and hard and outside of ferrari and their innate problem Charles and Lewis as a driver pairing weirdly match? I think some people are panicking abt the 1st driver/ 2nd driver thing and I honestly think they won't have a clear line about it. I also think both of them respect each other enough to handle it properly. Now if ferrari have the skills to manage them is a whole different conversation.
What I mean by them weirdly matching though is that from the grid I feel like they are the only two people with similar interests outside of F1 (maybe par danny ric). Like the fashion, the music are things both of them are very involved with. Makes me think that if maybe since Charles knew abt lewis before signing if both of them have that freedom now in their contracts to pursue their interests.
Also something to point out is that Charles and Lewis' driving styles match more than Charles/Carlos and Lewis/George. So hey maybe this will all work out.

Wait what's wrong with Zhou's hair? I think it suits him, it looks really cool!
Hey there! So I’m a white person and, therefore, not anywhere near the end all be all voice around black hairstyles and appropriation.
But, as a general concept, protective styles (twists, locs, various types of braids, etc) are specifically made for black hair. Beyond the fact that these styles can be harmful to non-black hair types, there’s also pretty extensive history of these styles (and natural black hair!) being treated negatively in work places, school systems, and general culture.
As a random example, black students often face policing of their natural and protective hair that non-black students do not.
Again, there is a ton of detail here boiling down to, at its core, racism and non-black people’s lack of awareness regarding the black experience. Zhou can choose to call his twists something “crazy he did while he was young” whereas, for black people, it’s a normal hairstyle that deserves respect.

'if the trophies are so valuable they shouldn't put them up there' 'it's porcelain, what did you expect?' 'they got caught up in the celebration, it's not his fault it accidentally broke' in the past few years, how many times can you recall a trophy was in danger of breaking? genuinely. even when they are spritzing champagne and running around, the trophies barely even move. l*ndo norris goes and purposefully does his little champagne bottle smash maneuver right next to a trophy that's not his. that's why trophies topple and fall and - when they're made out of fragile stuff - break. his childish carelessness ruined a craftsman's six months' worth of work and then he stepped over it since it's not his problem. every day, the people in this sport can disappoint even more
