Honestly, I’ll be pretty pissed if Horikoshi decides to end quirks in his finale. He’s always been a huge marvel fan, particularly Spider-Man, but the other biggest part of Marvel is the X-men and that series has always been about accepting differences no matter where you’re from and how your powers change you.

Now, I’ll fully admit that there are some mutants, Rogue for instance, who would prefer to not have their powers anymore, but choice and perspective has always been important. Removing quirks entirely would kinda spit in the face of that, especially in a world-wide non-consensual quirk-purge.

I was talking to my best friend about this, and she's got an OC who actually considered trying to erase her quirk because her appearance is a large issue for her.

I agree that It's okay for a quirk-user (or a mutant) to *choose* to become a regular human but to have that decision taken out of your hands is a horrible thing.

I think if Blake were to say the same thing today it'd be a lot different. All the girls have evolved, a lot.

Ruby - I think she's got too many scars now to be considered "purity". I'm not sure of her current word but I'm leaning toward "Perseverance"

Weiss is no longer defiance, her father, her father's company, and even the oppressive kingdom she lived in are all gone - she's redefining herself - "Resolute" I think fits.

Yang is still strong, she always will be but she's so much more than that. I think to Blake, Yang will forever be "Love" love of family, of friends and of lovers.

And Blake? She never defined herself but I always felt that it was "Empathy."

Addendum to Tai post: Also on a side note, I'd want Weiss to frankly just outright wonder how much of a clusterfuck the Xiao-Long Rose Branwen family really is if the above is true.

Like her family is a mess, but at least her father was an open asshole, not this absolute disaster of well meaning flawed people keeping painful massive secrets from each other that just keeps on hurting each other.

I'd like to think that while Tai is oblivious he's not that level of awful.

But yeah, Weiss would be stunned to see how relatively normal Ruby and Yang are coming from that mess.

I think probably the most painful thing that Tai could be doing right now on his mission is if it turns out that Raven wasn't the only person who had any idea what happened to Summer.

Like it turns out that he might have initially been ignorant, but then found out later on that Summer was not dead, but doing something...and he just kept his mouth shut out of misguided loyalty, strong disdain and hurt feelings towards his former team members, and holding Summer up on a pedestal, out of some cockamamie hope that he could somehow get her back.

Like, it'd hurt like hell if Yang and Ruby found out this was the case; that their dear old dad was keeping this kind of giant secret from them all this time and was hypocritical enough to hold so much against their other family and keep his own daughters out of the loop.

And it'd be very akin to a Sun taken to the worst extreme with his own version of Blake; someone who is so fixated on helping one person at the expense of his own team, his own family, while also being too stuck in his own little world to consider how much this would hurt them in the process when they inevitably find out.

Oh damn, that's one hell of an idea.

I can't even imagine the level of betrayal the girls would feel.

I've been thinking about Tai's advice to Yang in Volume 4 about how she uses her Semblance.

I very much get the impression that what he knows about Burn is limited by what he's witnessed, and he doesn't actually know everything about how she uses it.

If Yang relied on her Semblance as much as Tai thinks she does, going by most of her broadcast fights in the Vytal tournament and whatever he's seen while training her... Surely Blake would have known how Burn works before Volume 2?

There's no way every classroom duel could have been on screen in the RWBY volumes at Beacon, or every training session. And I doubt Blake had her nose in a book every time Yang fought or trained, so the fact Blake didn't know what Yang's Semblance did for quite some time? That must mean Yang didn't use Burn to finish every fight.

God I hope quirks don’t just get erased. Get rid of OFA and AFO, but don’t just rip something away that so many people consider to be a part of themselves without their consent.

Hell, can you imagine Tokoyami losing Dark Shadow?

I have to wonder what removing quirks would even look like for people with heteromorphic quirks like Tokoyami or Tsu or Mina or my own OC, Izumi (she has gills, scales and fins)

Like do they just get turned into "normal" humans? And for people like Tsu and Izumi whose quirks are something that has been a part of them probably their entire lives, they'd have to relearn how to use their bodies.

I hate the idea.

If I can be serious for a moment, I started socially transitioning online around 2019 (some of y'all were even around for that) and then got on HRT in 2021 and it's the weirdest thing...

Who I was before, feels like a distant memory. It is legitimately hard to remember a time when I wasn't a woman and it really hasn't even been that long.

Synthesis was always the worst ending imho. It’s just a slap in the face to everyone who lost someone/something to the reapers. It’s literally the “siding with the reapers/shitty ghost kid” ending. Where the traumatized survivors are now expected to co-exist with the giant, malicious war machines that wiped out the galaxy countless times cause reasons.

I can tell you right now, my Shepard would never even consider it. It's repulsive.

What’re your top 3 “real world” jobs for each of team RWBY?

I’m trying to write an au, but I’m having problems picking out careers for them.

(Bonus points if you can think of one that fits all four of them!)

One that would fit all four is a tall order.

An idea just came to mind though, even if I'm not sure how good it is.

Home renovators/repair. Ruby and Yang could be the muscle, Blake possibly finance? Weiss could be the interior decorator or she and Blake could both be.

Separately it would be Yang as a mechanic, Ruby, I'm going to be different and say video game dev, Blake, writer and Weiss is still an interior decorator (with the assumption she's not interested in business due to her family)
