I love the entire character analysis on both of them and I love that conclusion because it touches the right spot between empathy for her and disdain for who she is

I am still wrestling with how I feel about the incident between Syril and Dedra in this episode

On one hand 🫴 domestic assault

On the other hand 🫴 manipulation, massacre, and genocide

We have two characters that are undeniably (willing and active) tools of the empire and we can feel morally fine rooting against them. We are aware of Dedra manipulating her partner into helping her carry out the atrocity on Ghorman. He is justifiably angry and she is clearly on the Bad Side so why does it still feel so viscerally bad (and unjustified? idk) when he wraps his hands over her throat and intimately assaults her?

I could say that it's the raw imagery of a man attacking his female partner but idk if that's truly it because we see Dedra fulfill the more traditionally masculine role in the relationship and she is definitely more intimidating and dominant. I guess as a woman myself, it's hard to see that the hyper-competent, domineering, picture of female strength in the ISB is not immune to being domestically assaulted by a man she trusted and loved.

Any opinions? Totally willing and open to discuss if y'all are looking at this and totally seeing something that I'm not
