Golden hour on concrete, Evry-Courcouronnes, France
The other day I was telling coworkers that I find the architecture of this city really interesting when the light hits right, and they all laughed teasing me that I didn't have to be polite and it's an ugly, ugly town.
Well I beg to disagree.

The village of my grandfather, part 2, France
My grandpa grew up in the France no one cares to visit now, and many people would rather forget about. The ground is fertile, but the vast flat plains make it a perfect soil for a battlegrounds. World War 1 and 2 of course, but long before that the Hundred Years War, and any war between the French and the Spanish, the French and the English, the French and the Austrian, the French and the Prussians... Sometimes I wonder the stories the fields and rivers would tell if they could speak.

Emily in Paris needs an umbrella, Paris, France
I had an appointment in the 17th arrondissement, I don't know it too well so I put on the audiobook of the Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett and told myself I was going on an adventure ! I would appreciate tips on how to handle my umbrella and my camera settings at the same time when I only have two hands, it's a struggle...

The village of my grandfather, France
When my friends asked me to describe the place I was taking them to for a weekend getaway, I told them it's a small village, surrounded by fields and beet sugar factories, so flat you can see the wind mills from very far away, with some houses that haven't been properly rebuilt since the storm of 1999, no stores but a tobacco/lottery "bar PMU" (not even a bakery), a modern church since the old one was bombed in both world wars, a stadium that's really just grass with two goal posts, and nothing to do but fish in the swamp.
They told me I was trying to make it sound terrible on purpose, I told them I wasn't, it's just what it really is. After a weekend there, they confirmed that it is exactly what I described, and that there is actually nothing depreciative about that description ; and in fact all those things give our little village in the North of France its bittersweet charm.

Sailing in the November rains, Paris, France
I had some extra time in Paris yesterday before meeting up with a friend, so instead of sitting down somewhere, I went on a walk from the 17th to the 1st arrondissement, through many streets I had never been in before ! I hadn't walked aimlessly with my camera in a while...

Let me build a house in the forest for you, Newfoundland, Canada
This trail gets so gorged with water and slimu that they've build this little path of wood along most of it to avoid struggling through the mud ; the wood sometimes looks slippery and unstable, and yet it resists and takes you through the trees to meadows and coves.

Ocean mountain and rain forest, Newfoundland, Canada
On our second day of hiking the West of the island, we headed to Cedar Cove and the James Cook Heritage Trail, and played hide and seek with the pouring rain and the fog... We mostly lost, but happily so 🍂😊🌧️

Love under the Tuckamore trees, Newfoundland, Canada
The strong winds and the fog of the island have deformed the Krummholz trees into dense shrubs, and the ones on the Coastal Trail of Newfoundland have formed a little tent you can walk around and feel cozy under 🥰🌿

Fall in Newfoundland felt magical and mysterious, and I just wanted to get lost in the woods, hearing nothing but the wind and the sea...

Priestesses of fire, Provins, France
As the night grew dark and the people gathered in front of the old church, the women danced with fire and music to tell a tale as old as times

All onboard the wizarding train, Metz, France
Seriously, Metz train station is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen ! It's so unique and such a mark of the history of Prussian occupation of this part of France, that I didn't expect to see so much all over the city
